Lucid Motors tells customer the cars are 'not designed to be parked outside in the winter', need alignments several times per year, and thier ADAS sending you into oncoming traffic is your fault.

One Million New-Car Buyers Are Gone and They’re Not Coming Back Soon | WSJ

I bought two new cars, and two used ones. One of the used ones was a beater for my wife who was learning to drive, and honestly it was not a great experience. The second used one is a supercar I wouldn’t have bought at the new price anyway. I don’t really see us buying new ever again, we needed new at the time for dependability, warranty, having the most modern tech, etc. New cars don’t really have anything newer that we want, they already cost 15-20% since the last new car we bought, they are also uglier across the board. I think the 3 year old used CPO is the way to go these days.

I didn’t? I’m just saying that it happens, and people in the comments here believe it’s not just Tesla, and there are some people in the comments that aren’t aware some of them are lying.

I believe people do need that a few times a year. And why should I not buy a car for that use case? My Tesla is rated for 280 or so now. I take 70mi trips to nearby big cities for events and such, and I barely have any charge by the time I get back home. This happens regularly in cold, hot, or mild temps. So would I like double the range? YES. I used to regularly take multi charge road trips, and I don’t anymore. Gas may be more expensive even at $3.50 but it was convenient, fast, and I won’t get stranded in bumfuck Ohio.

If trends continue, do you see V6/V8 used-car values going down?

Posted by planbskte11@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 145 comments

moldy912@reddit

No, we don’t care. I filled up my car half a tank today because it was convenient, and before that it was like a month ago that I filled it. If you daily drive and you do care, someone will gladly take that off your hands.

I agree. I hate that we are getting downvoted because our opinion doesn’t fit the narrative. It’s just so ugly, and as much as I hate to say it, it’s uglier than the X3, which is awful especially the interior. I’m not just saying this, I have driven one.

Bro they are the worse offenders. Only RS/M cars have more colorful options on the used market. You go look for a Jetta, A4, 3 series, etc. and literally most are black, gray, or white.

People do not like small cars here, at all. They love small crossovers though. I think it’s a height/size thing, because if you’re driving a small car amongst 3 row SUVs, you can at least feel bigger if you lift the car a few inches and add a hatchback. Also two door cars (and honestly coupes are losing favor too) are extremely unpopular here, I don’t even think they exist and that’s more of a practicality thing.

The X3 was way better than the Q3/5 last gen so we bought an X3. BMW is begging us to upgrade and the new X3 is a literal piece of plastic shit, that I’d probably switch to a Q5 or GLE. I know people have complaints about both of those, but at least they are nice looking plastic. The X3 looks like shitty shitty plastic.

I’ve been to Philadelphia twice and Detroit once and all of them sucked compared to what I remember seeing as a kid. No concepts. No German brands except VW. All cars I can go to a dealer and see for months already. I only went to Philadelphia because a dealer gave me free tickets and even that didn’t feel like worth the cost of parking.

Have we experienced 'peak car', and is it all downhill from here?

Posted by Anchor_Aways@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 70 comments

moldy912@reddit

I don’t think so. Hybrid tech in supercars is still in its infancy, and that’s likely the future even though they don’t really need it (low volume and impact). I think we could have peaked design wise 8-6 years ago, but I think we could reach another peak once buttons come back, and design is always going to have many peaks anyway.
