SnowDucks1985@reddit
I think the iX3 is a beautiful car inside and out, but I’m just saying the article was published on April Fools day 😭😭
_BurtMacklin_@reddit
Are you kidding? iX3 is hideous inside and out.
by_a_pyre_light@reddit
Agreed
moldy912@reddit
I agree. I hate that we are getting downvoted because our opinion doesn’t fit the narrative. It’s just so ugly, and as much as I hate to say it, it’s uglier than the X3, which is awful especially the interior. I’m not just saying this, I have driven one.
kinda_guilty@reddit
Almost like looks are subjective and can be polarizing without being wrong.
_BurtMacklin_@reddit
No beauty is objective actually
generalright@reddit
Car of the year and hasn’t been released, what is this self congratulatory bullshit
Logitech4873@reddit
It's amazing how many people just blindly upvote outrage bait without even checking
Recoil42@reddit
Car of the Year is based on reviewer consensus. Reviewers have already reviewed the cars.
adoodas@reddit
Reviewers have already been paid off lmao. This is the oddest feeling new car hype cycle I've seen. Feels more like bmw marketing team going harder on influencers and less on everything else.
I hope it's nice but smells kinda fishy
generalright@reddit
My problem with reviews these days is that the are very controlled and only people who tend to review positively are invited to these things, but I’m sure it’s an amazing car.
Only_One_Kenobi@reddit
A lot of the bigger publications (car magazine, Top Gear, etc) get paid by the manufacturers to do positive reviews.
devilishpie@reddit
Source? Unless you're referring to clearly marked sponsored content, that isn't labeled as reviews, that's both illegal and a major ethics breach.
devilishpie@reddit
What do you mean "these days"? None of what you described is new.
Recoil42@reddit
That's how reviews have worked for decades.
SeljD_SLO@reddit
For Slovenian car of the year, it's combination of reviewers and people voting
JC-Dude@reddit
It’s been out for a while. Deliveries started in like February.
FrostyFire@reddit
February was 5 weeks ago
ThatGuyFromCanadia@reddit
5 weeks is a while
watduhdamhell@reddit
Seriously. It was receiving glowing reviews before it was even released. Like seemingly full flowing reviews from what should have been a first drive/article type of thing. Very strange to me.
Recoil42@reddit
That's... how reviews work. They come out before the cars are released.
fathed@reddit
Don't we have a word for that, maybe it's preview...
They released preview opinions, of cars I'm sure went through more QA than your average car.
devilishpie@reddit
A review isn't only when a journalists writes their assessment when the car is on-sale and being delivered, it's just a critical evaluation of a car and can happen before its on-sale, during its sale or a decade after it's been out of production.
This is normal and occurs across industries, like in the consumer tech space with phones, the media space with movies and yes, in the automotive space with cars. If you want a long term review you're going to have to wait for just that, a long term review.
fathed@reddit
And words mean nothing again.
Preview, they have released previews, not reviews.
You are attempting to change it to long term reviews, which is an entire different form of review, and is impossible until it's released. Just like a review.
You get to see a movie before it's released, what's that called?
If you get to test a car before it's released, are you previewing it? No one else has access, so they can't review it.
devilishpie@reddit
I mean, the definition for a review is quite literally:
There's nothing in the definition for a review that requires it to be released to the public before its evaluation. That's something you've invented.
Although in this case, BMW began deliveries a month ago, so I'm not sure what your problem is regardless.
fathed@reddit
Cool, now do the definition of preview.
devilishpie@reddit
You're really choosing to die on this hill eh?
A preview is not the act of evaluating a product and publishing any findings. That's what a review is.
I don't know why you've chosen to be pedantic about definitions when you have to rely on inventing your own.
fathed@reddit
So, nope to the definition, but I'm in the wrong, got it.
I'm not dying on this, on no, I've lost Internet points.
Can I get the product, or evaluate the product on my own? No, it's not out yet, preview, or pre-release review.
I'm being pedantic about this, or are you being pedantic about the word review? These insults that get slug about work both ways.
Axman6@reddit
This is peak r/confidentlyincorrect content. I think what’s really happening here is you’ve decided the meaning of a work as a kid and it’s stuck with you for live, but you are absolutely wrong on this.
devilishpie@reddit
Oh now you're saying preview review and pre-release review... Way to move the goal posts from just review, to this lol.
And yes, you're pedantic and actually, are just wrong, both because the cars been out and delivered for over a month and because you don't understand what the word review means.
guy_incognito784@reddit
“The primary difference between a car preview and a car review lies in timing and depth: a preview offers a first look at an upcoming or unreleased vehicle based on initial, limited information, while a review is a comprehensive analysis of a finalized car based on hands-on driving and testing.”
It’s always great when idiots try so hard to sound intelligent on the internet.
guy_incognito784@reddit
If you watch a movie before it’s released. It’s called a preview.
If you write an opinion on what you thought of the film, that’s a review.
I appreciate your confidence in your ignorance.
Recoil42@reddit
Previews would be of static unfinished pre-production units.
Production of the iX3 has already started. Reviewers have all reviewed production models.
fathed@reddit
Ohh, I didn't know the word preview came with such qualifiers such as pre-production... Thanks for informing me, authority of words... (/s if it went too high).
Recoil42@reddit
Mate, I'm telling you how reviews have worked for decades in every industry. Movie reviewers review finished movies before they're released. Games reviewers review finished games... before release.
This snark act you're doing here is just hilarious self-dunkery.
fathed@reddit
And I'm telling you, there's a different word.
I was just outside before writing this response...
It's cool, I'm the stubborn one, says the guy ranting about this is the way it's always been... I know it's hard to change, perhaps you should think instead of being so stubborn on the word preview for things you can't review yourself.
Axman6@reddit
Why are you still going? This is embarrassing.
guy_incognito784@reddit
It’s ok to admit you’re too stupid to understand the meaning of the word preview and how it differs from review.
fathed@reddit
Is it released?
It's a simple question.
Recoil42@reddit
Yes.
guy_incognito784@reddit
Yes. It is.
Six_of_1@reddit
It has been released, it's been delivered, people are driving them. Not strange at all. Released in September last year in Bavaria, where Bayerische Motoren Werke are from.
CuddleTeamCatboy@reddit
It’s currently on sale in European markets. This is the World Car Awards, not the American Car Awards.
FrostyFire@reddit
Europe isn’t “the world” either
Whywipe@reddit
So it’s the European car awards?
HuskerBusker@reddit
Read the article you lazy shite.
Life_Yesterday_7008@reddit
The US has separated itself from the global car market, while all other major automotive nations (except the Chinese domestic market) major markets outside of the Americas have joined the European UN ECE standards. Therefore, almost no-one outside of the US cares much about US cars, if they aren't Teslas.
Only_One_Kenobi@reddit
Please, how can they have this car outside the USA if they don't even have roads or electricity
/s
Th1rt13n@reddit
Wdym? They’re literally everywhere on the streets in Europe.
The world is not only the US, you know.
Six_of_1@reddit
It has been released. Maybe it hasn't been released in the country you live in, but other countries exist. You know BMW is a German company, right? Bayerische Motoren Werke? It released in Germany first and Germany has people in it.
Imtherealwaffle@reddit
yes it has. deliveries started in early march

And we're only 4 months into the year
Gods_ShadowMTG@reddit
? the IX3 has been released and is in the roads already
AdventurousDress576@reddit
I've seen them around with plates in 3 countries. Looks like it is on sale.
blANK_NX@reddit
But america=world bro
Nicktyelor@reddit
Hasn’t it? A few people in the BMW have posted theirs.
Boundish91@reddit
Pretty low bar then i see.
Emotional_Radish_446@reddit
Yeah, no deliveries yet—but the judges actually drive the prototypes. It’s more ‘best car on paper and in early drives’ than what’s on lots.
Gods_ShadowMTG@reddit
you are wrong
catchawabbit@reddit
You do realize there's a world outside of the borders of the US? I've seen these on the streets in Germany for a while now? To simplify, they are released in Europe.
Gods_ShadowMTG@reddit
I think you are replying to the wrong person
catchawabbit@reddit
I stand corrected:)
JC-Dude@reddit
Deliveries started more than a month ago.
Emotional_Radish_446@reddit
Ah got it — thanks for the correction. I must’ve been thinking of earlier availability. Appreciate it 👍
NoPersimmon7434@reddit
The Ioniq 6 N was the performance car of the year?
Hilarious.
jkggwp@reddit
Not even close to Chinese EVs
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
The iX3 is set to be a fantastic car but the rest of the choices are interesting
Absolutely no bias there, no ZR1/GTD/RS3 etc, the Ioniq 6n which is just the 5n in different clothing, clothing thats discontinued in the US in its standard trim. & the lucid gravity w/ a stop sale.
strongmanass@reddit
Surely that has to go to the Yangwang U9 Extreme.
I assumed these awards were just the EV section, but it looks like it's for all cars. In that case the 6N shouldn't even be in the conversation. I'm sure it's very good to drive, but not World Performance Car winner good.
holchansg@reddit
U9? Performance? A car that can only do 1 lap on the ring without dying on battery? Are you insane?
ZR1X i can f with that, Valkyrie/AMG One i can fuck with that, Valhalla, T50…
strongmanass@reddit
I meant the U9 Extreme would be my Performance Car category pick if it was specifically for EVs.
holchansg@reddit
For what? The only good EV the world saw so far if you exclude exotics such as Nevera, Evija… is the Taycan.
The U9 is a bloat over wheels.
ghostogresnowrabbit@reddit
Taycan is slower around the ring than a Xiaomi.
holchansg@reddit
EV is about energy. The Taycan does the same time as the SU7 Extreme using 50% less energy.
Both do \~7:07, the U9 does \~7:02. The thing is, Taycan does using \~750kW, SU7 using 1150kW and the U9 using 2200kW.
What this means? Means that the Taycan has \~8min of energy flatout, the SU7 \~5min and the U9 Ex has \~2min.
The U9 would lose against a Ioniq 5 in a 5 lap race.
ghostogresnowrabbit@reddit
Just curious where are you getting the numbers from?
holchansg@reddit
What numbers?
ghostogresnowrabbit@reddit
You mean the kW numbers? They arent operating at max kW numbers at all times. I dont think you can simply use the kW numbers as a measure of how long they can go.
holchansg@reddit
Ofc not. Thats why i said flat out.
here and in-depth from Justin from Engineering Explained:
Gas Beats Electric! Why Is 1000 HP Faster Than 3,000 HP? - Engineering Explained
strongmanass@reddit
Performance EVs that came out over the past few months when this award was being decided. The Taycan wouldn't be in the conversation because it's not a new car.
I know you don't like the idea of performance EVs because of their weight compromises due to battery. That's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. We've had this exchange before. You're not going to browbeat me into thinking the U9 Extreme isn't impressive.
holchansg@reddit
Not only weight, the fact that the U9 has 3000HP to do the \~same time in the ring as the 1000hp Taycan.
When we are talking EV energy is EVERYTHING. Flatout the Taycan deliver \~8min of power, the SU7 Ultra delivers \~5min and the U9 delivers \~2min.
How in the F is this good?
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
I'm not sure what your point regarding the tarzan when the turbo gt etc wouldn't qualify for the award regardless, we're taking about cars released in the last yr
holchansg@reddit
Sure. We are also talking about good ones.
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
Yeah, and given what is eligible within the last year the u9 is quite neat. The 6n is just a 5n in a worse form factor
holchansg@reddit
No, it is not. Its quite the opposite. Best and ONLY one was the SC01.
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
SC01 as well
You can say no its not all you want but they discontinued the standard ioniq 6 here for a reason
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
It's supposed to be for all drivetrain types alike, Clearly they didn't get the memo
I'm like #1 sporty ev fan & this is the worst part of EVs, it's one thing if you're a government actively subsidizing & regulating towards efficiency, it's another if you're an owner and just sharing experience
and then you have these random mfs trying to will it into existence, it's so performative
strongmanass@reddit
Yeah it feels like they're trying to shoehorn EVs into everything. I obv want performance EVs, but they're not at that level yet. The U9 Extreme weighs 5400 pounds. The Nevera R weighs 5000 pounds. The Evija weighs 4100 pounds and sacrifices range to do it. 10 years from now it'll be a different story, but until then performance - at the very least on a closed circuit - is still dominated by engines and gasoline.
slashkehrin@reddit
Pretty easy to read the room here: The Jury aren't enthusiasts (which is fine IMO). The GTD is a limited run, the ZR1 isn't a global car. The 6N would for sure wow the average person more than an RS3.
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
The firefly & 6e arent global cars either, & the Gravity is fairly region limited as well. I don't think global here meant that it needs to sell in all markets
JARDIS@reddit
Must be a bad year for cars if it can both do all the things drivers hate in terms of cabin usability on the inside i.e no physical controls, and look that ugly on the outside while asking a rather premium price tag (in my country at least).
Imo this will be a car of the year that doesn't hold up in retrospect.
JB_UK@reddit
I think this vehicle is a sea change for EVs where they become genuinely competitive on cost and performance compared to the petrol equivalent. The iX3 has a real world motorway range of 350-400 miles, and can charge 150-200 miles in 10 minutes. For someone with a driveway and living in a country with a good charging network, this is likely to be easier than a petrol car, not harder.
QuinTheReal@reddit
Who tf is actually buying this abdomination?

Very sad with the design direction BMW has taken over the last decade. Whomever is responsible for all of these design choices needs to be held accountable.
CallLivesMatter@reddit
Luxury car of the year is a minivan (sans the convenient doors). The 90’s really are back.
dayvieee@reddit
One could say it was a world star
autisticlettuce@reddit
So when does this come to the U.S.? I've asked three guys at my dealer and gotten three different answers.
Privateer_Lev_Arris@reddit
Ah damn 3 months in and 2026 is already over.
avoidhugeships@reddit
Lol
7Sans@reddit
This just tells me this car is just not going to be that great
costafilh0@reddit
How? 2026 is not over yet. Plenty of cars to be launched.
Oh, I get it.
Is because it is FVCKING BULLSH!T.
DiddyEpsteinSixSeven@reddit
Obama giving Obama an award meme
kon---@reddit
Not a single unit delivered yet. None.
And since the brand is doubling shifts and increasing the work to keep up with initial orders of a brand new model, what's all this going to look like when those deliveries see a pattern of unscheduled service trips?
Then suddenly it'll be, World Car of the Year issues recall notice.
devilishpie@reddit
They began deliveries to customers in early March. Started in Europe and will expand from there. North America likely won't see any until fall this year though.
kon---@reddit
Aye
The-CaT-is-a-lie@reddit
Not a single?
Blyatskinator@reddit
I saw one on the road in front of me literally 15mins ago lmao… ”iX3 m50” (sweden)
