Honestly, fuck Slate. They're promoting the "simple and good" car a lot of people want, but they've made it insultingly basic and insultingly expensive.

Not the point, but the SP3 is such a cool car, easily one of the all-time greatest cars ever made. Its biggest drawback is its cost/exclusivity.

New Mini design boss: Big facelifts for Cooper, Countryman and Aceman incoming

ALaLaLa98@reddit

The new Cooper has grown on me a lot, but I'd still never even consider one since there isn't a single Mini with a manual anymore. "hurr durr, manuals don't sell well". I don't care what the reason is (it's actually not a lack of popularity), not having a manual as an option in a Mini is straight up blasphemous.

When they discontinued the fiesta and focus, the reason was simple and clear. They expected crossovers to take over their sales. I'm pretty sure they even said so.

The Slate is an insult to consumers. People want cheap, but instead they got *cheap*. You don't want to buy an overpriced box full of shit you don't need? Well, here's a thing that doesn't even have basic features cars had 3 decades ago. How cheap is it? About as much as cars that have all the features *it* doesn't.

"Public humiliation" means it took a decade for someone to build a car that costs 100k *more* than a GT3 RS and didn't even beat Porsche's 10-year old record...until they made another special *special* edition car, that will probably also come with a special special pricetag. Porsche won't be able to sleep at night. We'll see a real record when the GT2 RS shows up again.

I don't know if these numbers are impressive enough today. The R36 needs to be able to beat the C8 Vette in performance, or at least match it, but cost considerably less.

I doubt the hyperforce was ever meant to actually evoke the R36. If I had to guess, I'd say what the R36 ends up being will look nothing like that.

I can't help but feel like Nissan is really rushing this. Just last year, you could still buy an R35 brand new. Nissan has been struggling financially for years. If I had to guess, I'd say they probably haven't been actively workin on the R36 for long, yet say stuff like in the next five years. The first design concept for the R35 was unveiled in 2001, 6 years before the R35 was actually available to buy. I feel like Nissan just desperately wants a win, and they're scrambling to get it, but I don't see how that approach is going to nail the R36.

Toyota BZ Woodland: 3.9 seconds to 60mph, 0.78g skidpad

I'm sorry, but your car needs to keep up with itself. If it has the grip and power to do 60 in less than 4 seconds (which is WILD), it needs to be able to turn. I don't know if you know this or not, but people can't drive for shit. Modern cars are *incredibly* dummy proof because of that. If you drive a normal car, you will more than likely not exceed its capabilities, unless you've taken several really really wrong steps, on purpose. And that's how it should be.

Hasn't at least half the 911 line-up evolved into a 928 successor? Why not make it official? Market a full blown big GT car, charge more for it, obv, and pull the already highly popular 911 towards its purer sports car roots. Yes, I can dream.
