Nice, finally a RamCharger. And a hot hatch coming out? Sweet, but they don’t really have a compact car anymore aside from Fiat 500 which I’ve only seen return as an EV.
realsebastianshort@reddit
In Europe the Fiat 500 returned with the same Fiat 3-cylinder from the prior generation. Same power, same drivetrain, just the chassis taken from the electric version.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Jesus Christ they’re planning an SRT grand wagoneer. Thing is going to get 4mpg highway.
stealer_of_monkeys@reddit
It won't even make it to the highway

GM - we are a software company that builds mobility solutions
Ford - we build smartphones on wheels
Dodge - they get a Hellcat, you get a Hellcat, everyone gets a Hellcat!
shugo7@reddit
Fuck yeah Dodge! Always knew I could count on you. I still love the Viper even though it doesn't exist anymore
KingMario05@reddit
Now: Chrysler 300 SRT8 pls
elan_alan@reddit
Umm didn’t they have one as the “last call”

None of what you said makes any sense. Go step into a fully loaded RAM and refer back to your comment. The tech is above and beyond what Ford and GM offer and the build quality is top tier.

What fantasy world you live in?
foytizzle@reddit
the one where ram leads in interiors
jon13000@reddit
Having owned both the current ram and f150. The 1500 doesn’t hold a candle to the f150.
HiIary4Prison@reddit
Being downvoted for speaking the truth. We just purchased 3 brand new Ford trucks which cost roughly $450k after tax and they don’t hold a candle when comparing them to the equivalent RAMs. Our Ford’s are full of plastic and they have been on a cost cutting role for some time now. For example, Ford has been deleting features year after year since 2023 and that truck will have more features than a 2026.
I dare anyone who downvoted me to go compare an F150 Platinum with a RAM Limited and get back to me. The materials and fit and finish is leagues above Ford.
jon13000@reddit
If you dislike the ford so much versus the ram why spend nearly 1/2 a million on them? Odd thing to do isn’t it?
HiIary4Prison@reddit
Ford has the most powerful diesel on the market right now.

Imagine having overpaid for a “last call” edition just for the V8 to return. Dodge played on those EV fears masterfully.
jhowlett@reddit
They could put the hemi/hellcat engine back in the Charger but I would rather have the last gen Challenger/Charger. They just looked so much better. So in that sense the buyers didn't miss out. But I do agree calling it "last call" was whack.
AwesomeBantha@reddit
I think the new gen looks good, it’s just a little bit too tall.
AwesomeBantha@reddit
The “Last Call” editions were rotting on lots for months with progressively larger discounts, if you overpaid for one the pain already came last year when values tanked.
I wouldn’t call it a masterful gambit on Dodge’s part. They profited off the Last Calls because everyone knew the next generation was going to be a turd, and then when the next generation came out, it was even more of a turd than expected, leading to brand new EVs selling for 50% off sticker, a crazy rush to get the I6 out, only for it to sell poorly as well, and finally a concession to bring the V8 back. When they finally get the V8 Charger out, the model will be where it should have been in 2023.

I got my Hellcat brand new in December 2024. It had sat on the dealer lot since like April of that year - probably because it was marked up to high hell. I had looked at them briefly in January '24 and they were marked up at least 10k over sticker if not more at almost every dealership and I wasn't going to pay what they were asking.
Was looking at very lightly used Camaro ZL1s in December '24 and the one I settled on wasn't there when I called the dealership after seeing it online. Decided to look back at Hellcats and one dealership still had some new ones, and had them very heavily discounted. They had one Challenger and two Chargers and they all were almost 20k off sticker so I jumped on the Challenger. Felt like I stole it at the price I got it.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Great username for a Hellcat. I’d be allllll over a Hellcat if I lived in Texas/Florida far away from tracks and mountains.
Giggle factor of the hellcats gas pedal is off the charts.
USS-Hellcat@reddit
Thanks! It's an excellent, comfortable cruiser and the acceleration once the tires hook is absolutely mind bending. My main issue with it is it's so goddamn fast you almost can't play around with it unless you go to a track. In my case it's my DD so I don't want to beat the piss out of it. I used to have a Mustang GT PP1 and Challenger Scat Pack and those were the sweet spot IMO for usable HP on the street. You could have fun without hitting felony speeds. Not the case with the Hellcat. You try to have fun in it and you're at go to jail speeds almost instantly.
_galaga_@reddit
In those car investment/appreciation threads that pop up from time to time I used to say I'd buy two Hellcat Challengers and put one in storage. I also agree a Scat Pack would be the way to go for a street car. They sound awesome and you get that muscle car experience without constantly being on the edge of death and/or jail.
USS-Hellcat@reddit
Funny you mention that. A friend of a friend bought a 2023 Charger Hellcat Redeye Last Call for 20k over MSRP with the intention of hanging onto it. They thought its value would skyrocket to like Viper levels after production stopped. When the market was pretty down (when I bought my Hellcat) they ended up selling it assuming things would continue getting worse, and they absolutely lost their ass on it. Think he had only put a couple thousand miles on it too. So not only did he lose his ass on it, he didn't drive it much at all for the year or so he had it thinking it'd tank the value.
_galaga_@reddit
I was thinking you'd need to wait 25 years before dusting off that pristine Hellcat to see some worthwhile appreciation or whenever ICE vehicles were endangered species. Then our cohort would look at a car like that on auction like boomers do over old muscle cars today. Skyrocketing to Viper levels, though, for a relatively mass produced car is uh... well, I hope he's not your financial advisor.

Stellantis previously swore up and down that the V8 simply “would not fit” the new Charger. To me, either they were using a flimsy justification to not dilute the already meager demand for the electric and 6 cylinder versions as buyers inevitably would hold out for a V8, or said poor demand (plus a healthy dosage of the rollback of fuel economy regulations) has resulted in the company making the necessary engineering changes to accommodate one.
leedle1234@reddit
Look up official pictures of the crate engines they sell. They have them sitting on the same stands and you can see that the hemi is only a little wider. the hurricane is surprisingly wide with the integrated turbo on one side and intake on the other.
gdnws@reddit
There are actually some measurements out there for them and the hurricane is actually an inch or two wider than the hemi even when accounting for the exhaust manifolds, assuming these measurements are correct.
RAMBIGHORNY@reddit
The “wouldn’t fit” thing is absolute BS. If Lexus can get a DOHC 5.0 V8 into an IS roughly the dimensions of a Corolla, there is no way on god’s green earth Stellantis can’t get a pushrod V8 into the Charger, roughly the dimensions of a Tahoe
gdnws@reddit
The wouldn't fit thing is also bs if you look at the reported measurements of the things; hemi vs hurricane. If those numbers are correct, the hurricane is bigger in all dimensions except height when comparing with the truck intake manifolds.
opeth10657@reddit
Back in the day, there was a aftermarket full bolt-on kit to convert a ford focus to a RWD 5.0 V8, no cutting or welding required.
ALaLaLa98@reddit
This is all very cool.
But. Why are they suddenly giving people so many cool things? What changed?
lael8u@reddit
All of these and no Grand Cherokee SRT??
jred321@reddit
I'm waiting. My Trackhawk has 64k on it. It won't last forever. The checkered flag next to the Grand Cherokee gives me hope.
Vhozite@reddit
This is good, fun news but I am very curious to see what the final product looks like and if it’ll actually sell. It was previously thought that the Charger Daytona was a flop but that the Sixpack would sell because ICE, but last time i checked those weren’t doing numbers either. Everyone wants a new Hellcat but this platform already has a negative stigma and it’ll almost certainly be insanely expensive.
Drzhivago138@reddit
What is this, 2004?
420khz@reddit
RAM trucks are the only trucks you see in rap videos. Obviously hellcats all over. Wouldn’t be surprised to see one if they put the v8 in it

They literally don’t care about this. Meanwhile ICE people meltdown at the thought of electricity powering cars
Spidaaman@reddit
No but it sure helped sales for the “last call” V8s. Nobody makes their customer feel stupid like Stellantis.
holchansg@reddit
I really think they are just stupid to think anyone would want an electric sports cars, and they would just magically sell hundreds of thousands of an electric bs charger. They are in panic mode right now, we want V8s.
VastDentis@reddit
overall it’s a classic Stellantis pattern: EV + inline-six now, with potential V8 halo model later if demand stays strong, just follow developments on carced Carvana and carmax before drawing conclusions
