Why do “there’s no replacement for displacement” people not mind supercharging even though they hate turbocharging.

I’ve noticed there are a lot of purists who hate turbocharged cars for being forced induction (normally muscle car fans but not exclusively) but don’t mind supercharging at all. Why is supercharging seen as purist-friendly and acceptable but turbocharging as boring even as not really the engine itself making the power. Is it just because supercharged cars have no lag and don’t sound muffled?
