Which bookstore do you miss more?

Omg Borders… I still dream of that place. I worked there for a number of years in the early 2000’s and opened a few stores for them during their heyday. Fun fact: Waldenbooks was a subsidiary of Borders Group Inc. While Borders were mostly stand-alone stores, Walden’s were mostly mall stores. (Our employee discount worked at both stores!)

Finally Watching Treasure Planet

Fr tho. I absolutely loved Atlantis. And Treasure Planet definitely had its moments too. Loved the father/son relationship between Silver and Jim. These were both more “male centered” and sci-fi themed projects which were a departure from Disney’s “princesses and fairy tales” pattern during the Renaissance. Which I have mad respect for. Wish Disney would take more risks like this but unfortunately they didn’t pay off. And Disney likes money more than creativity…

I dont know how I got here, but here I am.

Losing Parents

I’ve been “orphaned” since I was 35. (47 now.) It hurts like hell for a while but to be honest you DO get used to it. Now I hear people two decades older that me talking about their parents and it just feels so foreign to me. You will get through it. It will SUCK, but you will all get through it.

Oh wow - this was my JAM as a kid. I absolutely loved the Mathnet segments. Just recently, I was thinking it would be a hilarious idea to cosplay Kate and George at a random convention and see who would recognize the show. (True PBS old-heads would KNOW!!) 😂

Which one of a hundred names do you call it?

Haven’t seen this one mentioned yet but we used to call them “Gold Mine.” And yes. Ketchup on eggs is absolutely acceptable. Although I personally prefer hot sauce or salsa on my eggs…

Hell yes. This album still slaps. The opening track "Cry Tough" is severely underrated. These dudes may have slathered on the makeup but they definitely had... I believe the kids today would call it... "Rizz." 😂

Well, donuts are often found in the same church basements that coffee and alcoholics are also found… so… 😂 I would expect Florida would have a vibrant recovery community. It’s always interesting to hear from people in different states as to how things are where they are.

Younger GenX here. I partied so hard that I now sit around in a circle in church basements drinking bad coffee and talking about the dumb shit I did while partying hard. (IYKYK…)

Agree. Storm Front is a great album. I had a thing for Billy Joel as a kid but my favorite album of the time was the Russian live album. I still remember getting it on CASSETTE back in like ‘87 and I still love “Goodnight Saigon” and “Big Man on Mulberry Street” because of that album. Funny how the music we enjoyed as a kid sticks with us even if we didn’t fully understand the meaning it at the time.

Do you have something from the 80’s you still cherish?

This. IYKYK. My grandma bought me this in the early 80’s. Probably ‘82-ish because she died in April ‘83. It still works and hits me right in the nostalgia. https://preview.redd.it/wn24dyxfow0h1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c1bbcd7a983cbef23cf53392623ebfa238073d4

Omg. Teen Spirit. That brought me back. There was a green one that was my FAVORITE. Can’t remember what it was called but it smelled amazing.

My kids' dance recital theme is the equivalent of a 1950s theme when I was a kid. Legit themes, but I don't love how the math works out...

I am not familiar with “compounding pharmacies.” This will be my first time in my life taking a maintenance medication other than something for anxiety (never had issues with metal health meds) and other than that it was one-off “I have an acute issue so Dr. calls the medicine into the pharmacy.” Is this something online?

Yeah I need to get back on the HRT. Tried it for a few months, felt better, then my pharmacy stopped filling it and I haven’t had the energy to fight with insurance. Perimenopause is no joke.

Just some anxiety meds. Hopefully will be able to get off of those at some point. Other than my brain being a little “spicy” I’m all good health-wise at 47. My supplements/vitamins routine is pretty jam-packed though. 🫢

Yeah I could have guessed it was shitty quality but when you are 9-10 years old and ordering steak for the first time, it feels like gourmet dining. 😂😂😂

I am incapable of understanding how Madonna was so good

I actually really enjoyed her performance in the “Evita” movie musical. I’m a big Broadway nerd and Evita is my favorite Lloyd-Webber musical, so I was skeptical when she was cast. Then I actually saw the movie. Top-notch acting as Eva Peron. (Antonio Banderas actually knocked it out of the park as well.) Madonna was no slouch as an actress. “A League of their Own” is one of my favorite MOVIES of all time so I highly recommend catching her performance in that as well.

I can't even look at this picture because it pains me to think I gave away some mid-to-late 90's stuff that would have been worth money these days... 😭
