I always found this story more frustrating than scary. It ended with her head falling off and even as a kid I was like what?? Was she dead or a zombie or under some kind of curse? Without any kind of explanation, it was just weird.
I mean yeah when I was older (like 7-8 maybe???) I had MANY questions. When I was younger I thought it meant anytime I wore a necklace or a scarf my head would fall off when I took it off
My first grader did this book for her book report last autumn. She had to write what her favourite part was - “when her head fell off”. The kids in her class thought it was hilarious. The kids are alright (or maybe just messed up in a different way). Of course she is still afraid of the dark, so …
I read this book every year to my kids since they could sit to hear me read. I say “her head fell off” every time they tell me a story and want me to guess what happened next.
Back in college, I worked at a pizzeria, and the kitchen staff would often find ourselves chanting the chorus to the classic ICP song "Bugz on My Nutz" when there weren't customers around to freak out.
I had a bf in my 20s who was obsessed with ICP. He had big clown heads tattooed behind each calf. I wonder if he still adores them since he’s in his 50s now…
So my daughter went as this girl for Halloween once. She wore an old time dress and I made a ribbon where there was a clear part and the clear part showed her neck cut. Not a lot of people got it but at least she got the costume she wanted.
I dated this chick in my 20s who had a brother who got "JUGGALO 4 LYFE" tattooed across his back in some dude's basement. I'm sure that tattoo has held up great and he doesn't regret it 20 years later.
My former boss once told a coworker, "One day I'll be on my deathbed, and try to tell you something but you won't be able to hear me. So you'll put your ear up to my face, and my last words will be, "You fucked a Juggalo.'"

“In A Dark, Dark Room (and other scary stories)” book from our childhood
KingdomOfFawg@reddit
I am going to buy that on Amazon and scare my kid this Halloween.
LengthinessDouble@reddit
Highly recommend. My daughter loves that story!
beck33ers@reddit
Let me fix what you wrote there… “It’s from a book “In A Dark, Dark Room (and other scary stories)” that traumatized us as children.”
I saw the first picture, didn’t even read any words and immediately knew this was the head falling off story!
martapap@reddit
I thought the same. That story freaked me out.
Sorry_Im_Trying@reddit
hmmmmm, would be use "traumatized"?

I do not wish to hear an explanation from a scientist or their writings for they greatly upset me.
Kahnza@reddit
I remember when that first came out. I had a friend at the time that was heavy into ICP, and he put this amazing new song on for me.
I couldn't help but laugh. I was like, all these things are explainable with science. 🤣

In this day and age, Alfred would be investigated by HR after Jenny (anonymously) reported off-workplace harassment by a coworker.
In some places, he’d be arrested for motioning toward his neck while looking at her.
