I don’t care what anyone says, I still love the smell & taste of those stupid things.
Jerkrollatex@reddit
If I'm every terminally I'm starting smoking again. This is what I'm going to smoke.
ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
I just got diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer - and I’m definitely going to start drinking and smoking again near the end, if I can.
Jerkrollatex@reddit
I'm really sorry. I hope you squeeze as much joy as you're able to out of the time you have left.
ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
That’s the goal!
bajunio@reddit
The package there is already the nerfed ones. The original package was cream with a burgundy top with black lines throughout. The "cloves" used to pop and crackle when you would pull a drag while leaving that flavor on your lips.
OneRub3234@reddit
Do they still make them
EatsCrackers@reddit
Yup! They can’t legally be called “cigarettes” anymore, though, at least not in California. Not sure about the rest of the country/world.
Negative-Wrap95@reddit
It's not a California thing. It's a FDA thing going back to around 2009.
EatsCrackers@reddit
Fair enough. California will often have more restrictive laws than everyone else, but I guess even the 4th largest economy in the world is goi g to suck Philip Morris’s…. Smooth flavor with new longer filters
leicanthrope@reddit
Phillip Morris was one of the driving forces behind the ban. There was a specific exemption for menthols, which are basically the only type of “flavored cigarettes” made in the US. It was tobacco industry protectionism wrapped in a “save the children” wrapper.
OneRub3234@reddit
atom644@reddit
The sound too…
Late-External3249@reddit
That nice crackle and then the flavor when you pick your lips. Good times.

No one is fighting you. I wish I had one right now.

I thought CK One was more of a preppy thing.

You forgot about the black leather trench coat, pre-Matrix.
ZaphodBeeblebrahx@reddit
Pre-Columbine
rivalpinkbunny@reddit
I was wearing a trench coat when that shit happened! I wasn’t into industrial, I was a huge stoner, but I had a look
ZaphodBeeblebrahx@reddit
Same here. Me and like a few other theatre tech geeks all had trench coats and a Leatherman multi tool.
As you might imagine we were drowning in pussy
ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
In high school in the mid-90’s I had a WWII-era military surplus wool trench coat. The thing weighed about 20 pounds and was like wearing tank armor. I wore that stupid thing every day, even in the SUMMER. I also carried a thick blackthorn walking cane, and a surplus military messenger bag - usually full of books of poetry. I wore my hair teased into a weird crow’s nest like Robert Smith from The Cure.
I was SO COMPLEX.
ZaphodBeeblebrahx@reddit
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume you (like me) hung out with the “freaks”.
ennuiismymiddlename@reddit
You know it! We had the Jocks (typical sports & cars & hunting kids), the Nerds (smart kids), the Grubs (poor kids) , and the Freaks (“artsy” type kids).
humdrumturducken@reddit
pre-Matrix but post-Crow

I couldn’t do the ckOne, but I was absolutely into NIN, cloves, and wore a chain wallet with my oversized painters jeans.
Then my friends and I used to think we were something cool and go see Laser Pink Floyd or Nirvana at the planetarium.

Nobody's stopping you from making a post about your own culture/community. No one. I didn't engage with half of the stuff, but I'm not making a stink about it not representing me.
pug_fugly_moe@reddit
Missing those round Oakleys, Doc Martens or boots with the buckles, trench coat, hair gel/spikes, an MC Escher print on the wall.
Exciting-Argument-67@reddit
And when you got to college, it would be a Klimt print or that portrait of Kramer.
throwaway1102293384@reddit
Should be a CD though instead of vinyl
Exciting-Argument-67@reddit
That's what I came to say. Who was buying vinyl in the mid-nineties? That probably wasn't even released on vinyl until years later. Too lazy to try to look it up, but I'm sure I'm right.

Those goggles that offer no eye protection whatsoever but that doesn't matter cause you wore them on top of your head
ryguymcsly@reddit
Was Hot Topic even a thing then? I know it existed but in the part of the US I was in I didn’t see one until 1999 or so.
Fun-Preparation-4253@reddit
But like... a LOT of people wore CK One
the_ballmer_peak@reddit
CK1 is still the only fragrance I can instantly identify, even though it's probably been a decade since I've smelled it. I never wore it, but fucking everyone else did. I'm not a fan.
copyrighther@reddit
When did we start retconning the 90s as being a big time for vinyl records? My friends and I spent 99.9% of our time listening to CDs.
schwing710@reddit
Yup CDs and some cassettes in the earlier ‘90s

Swap out CK for some cologne that smelled like sandalwood and those cloves for Sampoerna and youre dead on.
ManWhoTalksToHisHand@reddit
I didn't wear cologne, I wore oils similar to patchouli, and vinyl had been replaced by CD's for most, but the cloves are right.
fourofkeys@reddit

themodefanatic@reddit
I think the only reason Hot Topic is still in business is all the money I spent there from 1989-1998. Prime Hot Topic. Not the mall goth aesthetic it is now.

I still use CK1 is that like my dad using Old Spice lol

SquirrelyMcNutz@reddit
Not too long ago, I got a bottle of CK One. And a bottle of Cool Water & Hugo Boss. They're sitting right by my 25+ year old bottles of Tommy Hilfiger, Iron, Gravity, and Curve.
I never wear 'em, but I like having them just for the occasional sniff of them.
(Sidenote: Remember ThinkGeek? They had bottles of cologne inspired by James T. Kirk and, iirc, Spock. Still got my bottle of Kirk. It's actually a pretty decent scent.)

Can confirm.

I have a CK variety pack from high school that I haven't even finished (I don't really use cologne), but I've still kept it with me. I'm SURE I have a CK One in that.
Funkopedia@reddit
I have the same one! cKone, Eternity, Obsession for men, Escape for men.
TheGillos@reddit
I looked it up, and some of the fragrances are discontinued, so some are worth $50-$300 on eBay for a single tiny travel bottle.
