Turning 50 I was healthier and happier than I had been in decades. My only regret is that I wish I had made the changes much earlier. Whatever. I’m a couple of months into 65 now, and from what I’ve seen over the last few years it seems like a pretty good time to leave the stage, what awaits is quite possibly going to be worse on the planet than in the ether. I just turned 51 so it's all pretty fresh. Feels like I spent a lot of last year thinking about what it means to be 50 and doing my level best to not Google every new ache. I'm pretty sure it's just another mental line we have to cross as we age influenced by social norms to hit around now. That's how my GenX head compartmentalizes it at least and turns out it's just a new kind of worry because on this side of 50 I feel great, I'm excited about life and I can laugh at myself for my year of fretting. I have a feeling you'll be in a similar place. Good luck and report back!

I was upset to turn 50, but a friend told me that it was freeing and she was right! I think about things differently. I likely have more days behind me than in front id me, so i tend to be more protective of my time. If i don’t want to do something, i usually don’t do it and i don’t feel guilty about it. I spend my time with the people that matter and appreciate it more than i used to. I’m loving this time in my life. I hope you do too!

p.s., as other user mentioned, get that colonoscopy. It is waaaay way anticlimactic, it can save your life, the prep takes some effort, and the procedure itself is no concern at all.

Haha I was going to do a whole dress in black, over the hill, graveyard cake deal for my husband's 50th... but honestly as that milestone got close it seemed too real. Really awesome cake though, I love it!

I'm 51 and I still feel like 50 is old, there's no way I can be that old. It's kind of nice tho, close to retirement, had a great life and plenty of years to look forward to. Getting closer to the end just strengthens my resolve to spend more time having fun enjoying life.
