Do you have something from the 80’s you still cherish?

My Grandma gave me this tote bag in 1982 in Billy Martin’s last year as the Oakland A’s manager. She’s been gone for a few years now, but the bag perseveres after 44.

One of the early Cabbage Patch Kids dolls with the cloth face, and autographed shoe. I still have the birth certificate that came with her.

I still have the Cabbage Patch Kid I got for Christmas in 82!

Kinda off topic but you should check out a movie called Patchtown

I also have my Snuggles stuffed bear my mom got me. He has a crooked ear. Mom saved bar codes for over a year to send in to get him.

The signature.

I still have my NES and 10-15 games. It works great for a 40 year-old gaming console.

I have a raggedy-ass gigantic ugly-as hell sweater - black & white checks - that I just wear around the house. I'm wearing it in my sophomore or junior yearbook picture.

This t-shirt but in yellow. It was my uncle's that I wore as pajamas when I stayed at my grandma's growing up and somehow it ended up in my possession permanently. Technically it might be 1970's but it was 80s for me.

My dad has this as a poster, and has been singing it, my whole life.

B Kliban is an amazing cartoonist and hugely influential! Absurdist before it was cool
scarred_but_whole@reddit
I knew nothing about the cartoonist until well into adulthood. Adults taught me the rhyme on the shirt before I could read and it's been stuck in my memory since. I googled it out of curiosity one day in the mid aughts and finally learned about it. Very cool.

Does my brother count?

This old sack of bones and meat I am trapped in. Doesn't work like it used to, but replacement is not practical at this point.

My hockey stick from highschool. Aluminum 2 piece. Still use it for stick handling practice to this day because it's a fucking rebar that will outlast me.

Haven't had this one since the 80s but he is identical to one of my favorite childhood stuffed animals. Bought him on eBay awhile back.

My Bo Jackson rookie card. I’ve had it for almost 40 years. It’s not in mint condition and I don’t care about the monetary value of it but he was one of my heroes as a kid. It’s the only card I still have left from my card collection
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
I had no idea who Bo was until my cousin opened a back of cards and found this one. So my jealously consumed me and I went to a baseball card store and bought one for the bone crushing price of $8. This was 1990-1991 so technically outside this posts window. But it’s still one of my favorite cards.
hanshotfirst2233@reddit (OP)
I had that poster on my wall growing up

I wish I kept my Bo shirt lol

Bo Jackson was such a bad ass.

I always loved the 86’ Topps card. I know I still have a few somewhere.

I moved across the country twice, and my parents moved to be near me. Everything was thrown away or donated prior to moves. I don't have a single thing that I owned prior to 2000ish.

Is that a Pound Puppy?
missnickypearl@reddit
Yep, been dragging him around 41 years.

Axis and Allies was as close as I got. I'm pretty sure I had it 19 or 20 years ago. I think I got it in 88 maybe 87. I don't remember what happened to it. I may have embarrassingly thrown it away because I thought it lost too much stuff. Not like I'd have anyone to play it with anyways.
Then after that was a leather biker jacket I may have had since 89 but I sold it about that same time 19 or 20 years ago.
As much shit as I have which is an ungodly fuck ton I don't think I have a single thing from the 80s. Maybe that's why I have so much shit.

This. IYKYK. My grandma bought me this in the early 80’s. Probably ‘82-ish because she died in April ‘83. It still works and hits me right in the nostalgia.

Brown label The North Face jacket. It’s pre-GoreTex and free of exterior labeling. It’s kind of ugly and totally freaking awesome
