Is it safe to sleep in my car and leave it on all night?

That’s not the problem. An engine is designed to idle indefinitely. The thermostat and radiator fans will keep it at operating temperature. The problem with idling for a long time is that fuel doesn’t burn as efficiently and that washes the cylinder walls.

Depends on the car. I still see kids today that are in love with 60s mustangs, Camaros, chevelles, Novas, etc. It’s the late 70s and early 80s cars nobody really wants or cares about.

Should you put parking brake every time you park?

Posted by AdGreen7615@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 479 comments

mondaymoderate@reddit

Never used mine in my automatics until one time the parking paw broke and the car would roll in park. So now I use it every time. You can feel the weight of the vehicle sitting on that small parking paw when on an incline and it’s just not designed to hold that weight.

Why am I starting to see so many "modified" SUVs?

Posted by Slight-Addition-2488@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 231 comments

mondaymoderate@reddit

Modding a FWD car was considered lame by most car guys until Fast and The Furious made it more mainstream. Car guys thought you should only put time and money into muscle and sports cars. People put money into FWD because that’s all they could afford and they already were driving them. That’s where CUVs are today and people think it’s lame.

mondaymoderate@reddit

They’re crossovers not SUVs. SUVs have always been modified. And the way your laughing at crossovers being modded it the way people laughed at anybody modding FWD cars.

Is there really a national backorder for a Nissan Altima intake manifold?

Posted by Burphybaby@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 11 comments

mondaymoderate@reddit

Usually when something is back ordered like this and there’s no aftermarket part then there’s some kind of design flaw stopping it from being made. The manufacturer is working on making an updated version or they are waiting out the clock so they no longer have to support that vehicle anymore. If OP wants a used one installed then the shop can’t warranty it when it inevitably fails and they will be back in the same situation.

You should get around 10 years out of them. But the charge capacity will decline every year you own it so by 10 years you hope to have at least 70% capacity if it hasn’t failed by then.
