Report: The Chevy Camaro Is Coming Back, and Will Share a Platform with Buick and Cadillac Sedans

Uhh. . . Am I the only one who thinks it's dumb for GM to roll out a new Camaro on a new platform in 2027 with a combustion engine? How far into the future do they expect that model to carry on? It seems kind of obvious to me that it should be electric, fully electric.
lesubreddit@reddit
GRAND NATIONAL WHEN??!?!
Fit_Equivalent3610@reddit
Take CT4-V BW
Black it out, add “turbocharger with arrow” badge
Superbowl ad licensing the first few seconds of that one Kendrick Lamar song
Literally no other changes
???
Profit
a49991@reddit
This but leave in the uncensored “fuck being rational” line, pay the couple million dollar fine, and Buick will be a cool brand for the first time in 40 years.
ahm911@reddit
All I ever wanted was a black grand National
Fade out
Black screen
Engine starts, revs, burnout, white smoke fills the black screen, lights come on new Buick GC . . .... Fuck being rational
OH3ELEVUHN@reddit
Cuts to a power slide, “give em what they ask for”
norfatlantasanta@reddit
Buick has always been cool… in China.

That's a Buick?

BUH BUH BUH, BUH BUH BUH, BUH BUH BUH BUH BUH. HEY!
EatMiBanhMi@reddit
You’re onto something
The_Bucket_Of_Truth@reddit
Fuck that give it the new 6.7 liter small block and I'll buy that shit.
tclark2006@reddit
I feel like they could take over where Dodge left off with the last gen Chargers. Those folks are going to need a new ride soon and reception has been pretty lukewarm on the new gen Charger.
davethadude@reddit
Watch it be the Roadmaster lol. I’ll still take it though.
internutthead@reddit
I would absolutely buy a new roadmaster.
I'm not even kidding.
hx87@reddit
Hell if Buick badge engineered an Escalade ESV, gave it a 6" suspension drop and smaller wheels/tires, kept the 8000 lb row rating and called it a Roadmaster I'd buy it.
BinOfBargains@reddit
GIVE EM WHAT THEY ASK FOR
PEEWUN@reddit
IT'S NOT ENOUGH
Dark_Skyes@reddit
ALL I EVER WANTED WAS A BLACK GRAND NATIONAL
Xivios@reddit
No, dammit, let the awesome rest. The Grand National was a racing series (NASCAR) that Buick did well in, that car was to celebrate those racing successes. Buick doesn't race anymore and NASCAR doesn't use the term Grand National either, it would lose all meaning and just be a cheap meaningless cash grab.
Buick does have the Gran Sport name, and GSX, dating from the muscle car era, which isn't connected with anything but being a high-performance trim line, and that should make a return, but not Grand National.
RedWire75@reddit
If there is a Grand National trim I’m not sure I will be able to NOT buy it. Knowing GM there will not be. GS is probably the most you can hope for.
sc0lm00@reddit
It will probably start at $70k and be marked up to $90k.
RedWire75@reddit
Patience is a virtue. Never pay ADM.
EarthOk2418@reddit
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!
therobshow@reddit
I was all "meh" till I saw this comment and now I'm hype over this. I did even consider an updated GNX
External_Gold_96@reddit
Maybe that newer Buick commercial where they showed a GNX and then a crossover was a joke...to gauge interest in a new buick sports car. Made no sense otherwise.
TheChazman1962@reddit
Bring back the Chevelle with 1967 outside and modern drive train and interior
downbadmilflover@reddit
I actually want it to keep the high belt lines if it means extracting maximum performance out of the chassis. I could see out of the 6th gen by paying more attention. I don’t care about the interior room either. The Camaro is all about high performance and if you can’t live with that, get another car.
I do hope they make it much more THEFT RESISTANT WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THAT
r_type2266@reddit
Like the rumored Manual Infiniti Q50, I will believe it when I see it. If both actually hit the market I will have a really hard time deciding which one to get as a "forever car"
Uptons_BJs@reddit
Oooh, this is interesting. Camaro, 1 Cadillac Sedan, and 1 Buick sedan? and Buick's first RWD car in what, 40 years?
Cautiously optimistic here. Especially if they end up using the Camaro as a bit more of a daily driveable platform for the new Corvette Engines.
Haunting_Bit_3613@reddit
I hear Buick platform and assume GM is stupid enough to make the Camaro front wheel drive. Er ma gerd I hope I'm wrong.
gravis1982@reddit
RWD is terrible. AWD or FWD is fine.
NoPersimmon7434@reddit
What's wrong with RWD?
Spicywolff@reddit
Nothing, it’s perfect and absolutely a hoot to toss around.
gravis1982@reddit
People don't have driving cars illegally as a hobby anymore, by and large.
hx87@reddit
TIL driving in twisty New England roads at legal speeds is illegal
Spicywolff@reddit
So then all of us at r/autocross and r/cartrackdays must be doing some illegal stuff on public track streets then.
NoPersimmon7434@reddit
Good thing sports cars can be taken to a track. Besides, RWD cars can still corner better at normal speeds. You do not need to be at the limit of grip to feel the difference in how a RWD car rotates compared with a FWD car.
Spicywolff@reddit
RWD or AWD is fine. FWD is terrible. fixed it for ya
gravis1982@reddit
You have limited your market to 0 anywhere there is snow. Why would you do that. Makes no sense.
hx87@reddit
AWD is bad in snow? Never heard that before
Spicywolff@reddit
With proper winter tires and an ounce of sanity, you can drive your rear wheel drive sedan anywhere a front wheel drive sedan can go. Front wheel and all-wheel-drive does not automatically mean it’s superior in the snow.
At the end of the day, you’re limited by ground clearance and no sedan no matter what drive it is. is going to handle some really hard rough stuff that’s not plowed. The bigger factor is your tires and the nut behind the wheel.
potatoboy247@reddit
rwd is fine in snow, tires and throttle control are what really matter
anchor_states@reddit
a front wheel drive Camaro? are you smoking crack?
gravis1982@reddit
Who cares about the heritage. Looks cool, would buy. Dont want RWD. Market has changed.
mondaymoderate@reddit
Yeah that’s why all the top selling sports cars are FWD lmao
gravis1982@reddit
I dont care. I would buy a FWD sports car. Whats the difference. It makes it go and is better in winter. I am not trolling here. I would probably buy this car if it was FWD. Many like me.
Spicywolff@reddit
If you don’t know the difference between front wheel drive and rear wheel drive dynamics for an enthusiast car. Then you’re really truly clueless and should go out and drive some more fun cars. Rent one at a race track would be great exposure
gravis1982@reddit
If you are obeying the law on the road, then no, you wont notice a difference.
Spicywolff@reddit
Takeoff from a red light up to the legal speed limit, and you will notice.
Drzhivago138@reddit
This sounds like a marketing guy in the '80s trying to convince everyone at GM that FWD is "the way of the future" (and succeeding for a little while).
gravis1982@reddit
Um, are not all cars essentially FWD or AWD now
Drzhivago138@reddit
Your typical crossover is probably either FWD or front-biased AWD (and most don't have a way to turn the AWD on or off on demand, it just kicks in and out as needed). But there are still plenty of performance vehicles that are RWD, to say nothing of pickups and pickup-based SUVs with selectable 4WD.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
No lol.
Every BMW outside of the 2 series sedans is RWD based architecture, same for Mercedes. Mustang, Camaro, GR86 and GR Supra, Various Genesis offerings, most SUVs outside of smaller crossovers, blah blah blah.
Dude I think you're a smidge out of touch with the market rn.
mondaymoderate@reddit
Then go buy a Honda lmao nobody who wants a real sports car wants a FWD.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
Honda genuinely makes FWD super engaging too. The new Type R/Integra Type S are great to drive - I was about to buy one before I came across a Supra that fit exactly what I wanted.
gravis1982@reddit
I am not sure if people want sports car anymore.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
I own a sports car, and would very much not own it if it was FWD.
9e78@reddit
Sounds like you need to learn how to control a car, and use winter tires.
Shoopin@reddit
you've changed, bro
anchor_states@reddit
You think drivetrain is a matter of heritage? lol
soggybiscuit93@reddit
AWD is still either a longitudinal or transverse design at the end of the day, and I'd take a RWD based AWD vehicle over a FWD based AWD any day of the week.
gravis1982@reddit
Is not FWD better for bad road conditions and has no meaningful impact on acceleration or cornering that would be noticed by 99.9% of buyers.
RWD is a boomer car. Millennials are ok with FWD because they are more practical.
soggybiscuit93@reddit
FWD definitely does have an impact on acceleration. As you accelerate, vehicle weight shifts backwards, reducing weight on the drive wheels.
FWD generally has worse weight balance (idk a single 50/50 FWD vehicle off the top of my head)
Your turning wheels and acceleration wheels are the same, so you have the same grip has to be shared between both when accelerating on a turn, resulting in understeer
And also, it's very noticeable for regular drivers when they have to accelerate hard on a turn from a stand still, such as turning onto a fast road from a stop sign. It's super easy to peel out a FWD in this condition.
In exchange, vs RWD, you yet better rear row center floor room, cheaper packaging, and slightly better snow performance (although snow tires on RWD is better than FWD on all-season)
gravis1982@reddit
No one actually accelerates like that to feel the difference. Plus that is technically stunting.
soggybiscuit93@reddit
Idk where you live, but if youre in a high density metro area, like the North East, it's not uncommon to have to accelerate from a dead stop to 50mph at a stop sign intersecting a highway at a right angle.
Or to accelerate across 2 lanes of traffic in a left turn on a local stroad, waiting for a gap just large enough to squeeze through.
DodgerBlueRobert1@reddit
That guy is trolling hard in this whole thread. No one can be that obtuse.
bc10551@reddit
Fwd has so much impact on acceleration lol. Hope you like wheel hop. No one buying a Camaro wants a fwd car lol
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
This is bait.
Lucreth2@reddit
It's a Cadillac platform with a Buick on it.. and didn't they already say that it would just be the next ct5? It's probably rwd with AWD options.
AndroidMyAndroid@reddit
I'd bet on a Corvette-like hybrid AWD option coming. And it's going to be absolutely, breathtakingly fast and will make Ford have to make some serious decisions about the direction of the Mustang.
Lucreth2@reddit
Only if it's 2 doors lol. I don't think Ford will care much about a 4 door version unless they finally make the 4 door mustang they've yapped about for years. And that would be hybrid anyways since they've committed to hybrid-ing all the things.
AndroidMyAndroid@reddit
I'm talking about the Camaro, which sure as hell better be a coupe. Although a new SS would be pretty sweet. Whatever they do to the Camaro engine-wise, will probably be pretty similar to the Cadillac and Buick it shares a platform with. Hybridization is the hot thing right now and they have the tech in the Corvette E Ray and ZR1-X, it makes sense that they will use this new platform to start bringing that tech down into more mainstream GM products.
Ford would have to answer to a Camaro that's going to have the kind of acceleration that an AWD hybrid can do. They obviously do not care about competing with Cadillacs except the Escalade.
AndroidMyAndroid@reddit
It's going to be a FWD-based AWD Camaro with a performance hybrid system and 500hp in the base model. It'll weigh 4,500 lbs and cost $60k, and after 2 years of wait lists and $10k dealer markups everyone who wants one will have it and they will sit on dealer lots with 0% APR and $10k discounts until GM kills it again.
Training-Expert5598@reddit
More than likely AWD on all 3.
Noobasdfjkl@reddit
The posted article says it’s expected that the trio will be based on an updated Alpha platform.
nonaveris@reddit
They did make the FWD W platform for good or ill.
CuddleTeamCatboy@reddit
They’re all supposed to be built on the Alpha platform originally developed for Cadillac, so it will be RWD.
CorrectCombination11@reddit
It will be, at best rear-biased awd and worst, front-biased awd, because normal folks want awd and not rwd.
Lava_Lagoon@reddit
you're projecting
most sports/performance car enthusiasts prefer rwd
CorrectCombination11@reddit
If you think car enthusiasts are the norm, you have some growing up to do.
Lava_Lagoon@reddit
is english not your native language?
CorrectCombination11@reddit
Good job! This is correct.
If 3 vehicles are sharing one platform. That single platform needs to serve the needs of all targeted customers. Caddys and Buicks will need to outsell the pony car in order to pay the bill. So what will the accountants allow the engineers to build?
Have you never used logic in your life?
Lava_Lagoon@reddit
i see - that explains why your comments don't make sense
keep learning !
CorrectCombination11@reddit
Don't get stuck being a townie!
ThatoneJira@reddit
The 6.7 wasn't just for the corvette but will they be NA versions too or just ones with forced induction...
RyanOfTheVille@reddit
Which 6.7 are you talking about? The ZR1 motor?
The 6.7L V8 in the 27 Stingray, 27 Grandsport, and Z06 are already N/A and I’m pretty sure the ZR1 uses a variant of the Z06 motor.
ThatoneJira@reddit
The grand sport of course and the zo6 and zr1 have 5.5 flat plane crank
LoudGunZ@reddit
I think he was referring to you mentioning forced induction on the 6.7 which doesn't currently exist at all.
ascii42@reddit
It has been 30 years for cars, 19 years overall. The 1996 Roadmaster was their last RWD car. 2007 Ranier was their last RWD vehicle.
kstetter@reddit
Only 14 years for cars, the Chinese Buick Park Avenue.
Drzhivago138@reddit
The Rainier also had the dubious distinction of being Buick's first I6-powered vehicle since the '30s.
long_fish3000@reddit
probably will be awd?
geardownson@reddit

youreloser@reddit
If it's a Buick, it should be a Skylark or Regal.
doubletwist@reddit
Grand National?
Seeker80@reddit
Regal: 2.0T Regal T-Type: 2.7T Grand National: LF4 V6 at LF3 power(LF3 no longer available) GNX: LF4 V6 at full power
luke10050@reddit
Only if they're RWD...
Hell, just bring back the 3800 V6 and strap a massive turbo to it.
Seeker80@reddit
Yeah, rwd of course.
A week or two ago, I was saying to base the Regal on the larger CT5. Then a Grand National/GNX can use the V6 from the CT4-V Blackwing. The weight/size increase would keep it from overshadowing Cadillac.
Those at GM with long memories, or at least access to internal history, will remember the turmoil that the GN/GNX and the Lotus Carlton caused with the Corvette. No chance of that now, but they won't want to press Cadillac too hard either. I guess GM just makes their turbo V6 cars too potent, and it causes trouble.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
GM pls, I need this.
Zwig@reddit
🥵🥵🥵 gnx yes please
Super-Tour3004@reddit

aroundincircles@reddit
LeSabre.
youreloser@reddit
Depends on what they're going for with the car.. if they want buyers who reminisce about their grandma's \~\~couch\~\~ car, then LeSabre it is. And they should call the electric version the Electra.
Cornflakecwl2@reddit
More fitting name now than ever before.
Xivios@reddit
I vote Wildcat. That was a fuckin' cool name.
spongebob_meth@reddit
Malibu. Leave Chevelles 2 door.
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
Unfortunately I think the last two decades of Malibus being the most uninspired FWD GM slop has made it such that the nameplate is a bit tarnished.
mondaymoderate@reddit
Chevelles came 4 door.
spongebob_meth@reddit
And they were endlessly mocked and seen as undesirable.
Drzhivago138@reddit
And a wagon! It was Chevy's regular mid-size car until the Malibu trim became more popular and took over the whole line.
mondaymoderate@reddit

The 6th gen Camaro and CT4/ATS shared the alpha chassis. Shared chassis doesn’t mean it’ll share the same number of doors
PurpleSausage77@reddit
CTS and CT5 also, just wider/longer wheelbase. CT4/CT5 are Alpha2 platform. So the “new” Camaro is just picking up where it left off on the same platform then.
Wonder what comes next, Alpha3 lol
RIP_Soulja_Slim@reddit
Honestly the Alpha is such a good platform still, there's no reason to do much other than iterative updates.
aheartworthbreaking@reddit
So did the Charger/Challenger with the LD chassis
ThatoneJira@reddit
Yeah the Buick could be new "4 door super sport" with both having NA 6.7 V8 while the new ct5-v blackwing could be the "4 door ZL1" with supercharged or Turbocharged 6.7 v8

Phosphorus444@reddit
Maybe the future holds a 2 door CT4 and a 4 door Regal/Grand National?
fiero-fire@reddit
I believe the previous gen shared a platform with the CT-4 caddy's
steakpienacho@reddit
Pretty much what the blackwing is already, 4 door ZL1
Csharp27@reddit
Do we not like Camaro’s here?
UnnamedStaplesDrone@reddit
Maybe for ppl who think chassis and platform equals number of doors
spongebob_meth@reddit
They could have printed money if they had made a Buick version of the ats-v and called it the grand national.
Instead people just crapped on it for not being a v8.
timberwolvesguy@reddit
Which is stupid since the Grand National was a turbo 6 lol
spongebob_meth@reddit
They shit on it for being a v6 Cadillac. My point was that it would have been right at home with a GNX badge
thesecretbarn@reddit
lol what, no. No American has wanted a Buick since 1995.
spongebob_meth@reddit
Grand nationals have an absolute cult following by rich old men. Done right it would sell.
And people would want bucks if they sold cool ones.
Gregarious_Raconteur@reddit
Not just rich old men, Kendrick Lamar's last album was titled GNX, and his subsequent tour was the Grand National tour.
G bodies in general still have a cult following.
spongebob_meth@reddit
Yep, almost all car enthusiasts think they are cool. A faithful revival would be in high demand. Make it good looking, rwd (or awd with a longitudinal engine) and there would be a high demand.
If they made it look like a classic G body it would be so cool. Boxy is back in after all
Kevin_Wolf@reddit
I bought a TourX because it was basically like an AMC Eagle and Buick GN had a baby and it came with airbags. Too bad it got Mom's 4 cylinder, but you can't win them all.
spongebob_meth@reddit
Those are cool cars. If they imported the manual trans version i would have gotten a lot more excited about them. Ended up with a Subaru instead since they're the only ones who were selling crossovers with a stick at the time.
WhateverItTakes117@reddit
That tourX is such a good looking car. I saw online someone took all the cladding off to make it sleek like the euro version. Looks damn good.
itsnottommy@reddit
From what I understand the euro conversion is pretty easy too. All of the panels and doors are the same as the euro version, the cladding is just stuck on with adhesive. If you can find a donor car, all you need is a new front bumper and side skirts.
Macgyver452@reddit
The next gen Camaro electric crossover doesn't excite you?
Recoil42@reddit
I don't think they're talking about an electric crossover here.
PotentialGarlicPasta@reddit
It sounds like it may or may not be 2 doors though. GM Authority quoted "...it may be not what you expect" in their article. I wont be surprised if they just follow Stellantis and offer it as 4 door so it sells and then a 2 door on the same body.
justin62001@reddit
I would’ve loved to have a sedan version of a Camaro lol. More utility and visibility? Yes please!! If the rumors about it having a 4-door option are true, I’d hope they at least keep the manual for it
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
It's definitely for China most, as they still sell sedans models there. Lacrosse has had update, but Regal hasn't . I think that Buick version CT5 sedan would be Regal replacement.
Recoil42@reddit
"Share a platform" and "Chevy Camaro" suggests it's not for China at all. China's already moving onto a domestic SAIC EV platform and Camaro implies gas. The article specifically mentions production at Lansing, Michigan, so... not China. This is US production of a US market Buick they're talking about.
MrFlow@reddit
Well at least it can't be worse than the last 2020 Buick Regal which was just a re-badged Opel.
luke10050@reddit
Because rebadging the opel insignia will work right?

FireCanary@reddit

SirLoinsALot03@reddit
The world needs more RWD sedans and coupes.
ZeGermanHam@reddit
Sharing a platform with Cadillac is nothing new, since they already did that with the Alpha platform. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Buick, though.
skepticallypessimist@reddit
Wasnt the fifth generation camaro and the cts the same zeta platform?
GastroAffectedCastro@reddit
No, the CTS was on the Sigma platform, then Sigma II, then Alpha.
skepticallypessimist@reddit
Rereading right now. Sigma 2 looks like a modified zeta
GastroAffectedCastro@reddit
Kinda, Sigma II increased parts sharing with Zeta, but it was still a more premium, upmarket platform, with a double wishbone front suspension instead of MacPherson strut, greater use of aluminium for parts such as control arms, and was considerably more expensive to manufacture.
ZeGermanHam@reddit
Yes
Lucreth2@reddit
The real question is if it will share wheelbase.... Aka 2 or 4 doors.
I'm sorry but if it's just a Chevrolet ct5 then it should be a Chevelle/Malibu/Impala etc.
PotentialGarlicPasta@reddit
From what it sounds like, it will be like the Dodge Charger, which is not surprising at all. The 4 door will sell more just as the 4 door Charger outsells the coupe.
Lucreth2@reddit
I find that extremely unlikely, but we'll see. If it's based on an updated A2 platform they should already have options for a shorter wheelbase from both the 6th Gen and CT4.
I suspect it's only a 4 door and all 3 cars will be badge engineered which SUCKS because the ct5 is a tiny tiny car inside for how big it is outside. Gm needs to get some tips from Honda because I'm much more comfortable in a civic.
FLman42069@reddit
They need to use it so there aren’t so many Cadillac models. Make the regular ct4 and ct5 buicks, then just have v and blackwing Cadillacs. Camero can be the two door variant

It'll just be Chevrolet's version of the new Dodge Charger.
kstetter@reddit
A Camaro based sedan?
PotentialGarlicPasta@reddit
More like a sedan based 2 door Camaro. With the highest trim being the sedan
kstetter@reddit
The Camaro has been sedan based since the 5th gen
Active-Effect-1473@reddit
I think the new Camaro will use the Buick sedan chassis but only be 2 doors so essentially a 2 door Buick with a different body. I don’t think it’s gonna be as good as the Mustang which has a chassis specifically designed for a race car. I may be wrong but if I had to pick right now I would still go Mustang coyote.
HomeCinemaParadise@reddit
I’d love to see a sedan with the new LS6 in it. Something similar to the Pontiac G8, I don’t care if it has a Buick badge on it
Mr_Chode_Shaver@reddit
Maybe they can manage to make windows big enough to see out of this time.
halotechnology@reddit
I got mine 1.5 years the window is exaggerated.
I used the drive a cobalt and I see way more in the Camaro except maybe really up ( traffic light that's too close ).
My blind spots are even and I don't have to turn my head as much.
iamr3d88@reddit
Yea, I have more issues with my b-pillar in my corolla and fusion than I do with my camaro (2015.) Set the side mirrors correctly and I have no rear blind spot. The front is a bit rough, but not as bad as most pickups these days.
halotechnology@reddit
Exactly my point the b piller was a huge problem for me.
Mr_Chode_Shaver@reddit
I drove a Bumblebee edition for almost a month, while I tried to sell it for my uncle who lives in a remote area. I got a bit used to it, but going back to my daily was like taking a blindfold off.
Ended up putting it in an auction, the market was soft like butter in 2018.
halotechnology@reddit
But you are talking about 5th gen not 6th Gen which is better
Mr_Chode_Shaver@reddit
I've only sat in a 6th gen, but it didn't seem much better, if at all.
BornWithAnAK@reddit
Of course not. They'll just survey previous Camaro owners again, who will stupidly say they love not being able to see out of their car.
imperialtrace@reddit
Seriously, I once commented my experience trying a ZL1 and mildly expressed that the visibility could be better in an otherwise great car. Had Camaro owners in the replies telling me I'm a blind idiot or just a hater.
Vhozite@reddit
It’s always funny when Camaro owners say it’s not a problem. Like obviously someone who liked the car enough to overlook it doesn’t think it matters. The problem is the sales lost to Ford or Dodge from people who didn’t buy a Camaro.
I think they’re cool but being in one it felt more claustrophobic than a GR86 despite being way bigger.
norfatlantasanta@reddit
It was always the problem and always a huge reason for poor sales. Three of my friends bought camaros and traded them in for Mustangs or Supras or some other sports cars because the visibility was just THAT bad.
I swear if GM just gave the platform to Mazda and let them design the bodystyle we’d all be better off.
Masta_Wayne@reddit
Yeah, I was one of those sales that was lost. Cross-shopped the 3 and ended up going with the Challenger just because it felt the biggest on the inside. I know the Camaro was usually the fastest around a track, but it was going to be my daily so I went with comfort over performance.
Turns out I apparently didn't care too much about comfort seeing as I ended up in a Corvette when all was said and done.
ZeroWashu@reddit
well to be honest you only needed to see out the front, to watch as the other cars passed you.
bc10551@reddit
Is it worse than the blindspots in an Emira lol. Crazy that thing doesn't come with blind spot sensors unless you get a 2026+
Hazindel@reddit
I had to settle and get little dome mirrors on my side mirrors for my Emira, it's sooo bad lol
bc10551@reddit
I genuinely felt uncomfortable on the highway with the blind spots on a test drive lmao. Literally just gun it and overtake. I had my mirrors set up how you're supposed to too but yeah wide angles kinda needed. Fun cars for sure though even though I test drove the dct and wouldn't spend 100k on a 4 cylinder
TheDragonaut@reddit
If you ever want a more OEM-looking setup the Emira owner I know found out UK-spec mirrors are more convex than the US mirrors and should be a direct swap if you can find them. Can't confirm that though because the mirrors are apparently hard to get hold of (Lotus parts availability right?). Honestly surprised someone like GRP or Inokinetic haven't made their own yet like they did for the Eliges, seems like a pretty common complaint among Emira owners.
bc10551@reddit
What is a blind spot when you can just accelerate and pray!
UnnamedStaplesDrone@reddit
What is a blind spot?? But a miserable pile of secrets!
Umbra427@reddit
How about they make it so it doesn’t get instantly stolen
randeus@reddit
My cousin’s SS got stolen out of his front drive way in less than 30 seconds. It was wild to see on camera how quickly and easily they can get stolen.
Substantial-Oil7569@reddit
That happened to my GF's brother as well. Car alarm went off in the middle of the night, didn't expect it to be his own, so by the time he got out of bed to look through the window a minute or two later, the car was leaving the neighborhood.
uberdosage@reddit
Facts. 2 attempts in the last 6 months. Im selling my corvette once my dark horse ships here
PeregrinsFolly@reddit
As far as I'm aware that's less of a problem now. I know on my 26 Colorado if the alarm is set off Onstar tells you that it disables key programming automatically.
ItsMeTrey@reddit
Or, and hear me out, we make it all blind spot and just use cameras.
bullyXLdisrespector@reddit
The current Cadillac sedans already have relatively poor visibility, so hoping this doesn't mean the Camaro's terribad visibility will bleed into the rest.

Hopefully it has a v6 trim instead of an inline 4 if they release it in time to comply with the lack of CAFE reg fees.

GM of the last decade is such a joke, it's boggles the mind.
anarke216@reddit
If its not RWD ,with LESS tech, and a manual option, I dont care and will wait for reviews. The G8 and SS got no promotion and Chevy continuously devalued the Camaro.

ATTN GM: WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE CAR. THIS CAR WONT SELL IF ITS LIKE DRIVING A TANK. I CANT SROP YELLING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
outofdate70shouse@reddit
If I can get it with a V8 OTD for $40k or less, then idc if there are windows at all
UnnamedStaplesDrone@reddit
You’re dreaming lol. 40k . The new normal for a v8 sports car is like 60k with decent options
blue92lx@reddit
The biggest problem with this mentality is that they'll need to make their interiors even worse than they already are. Interior quality is probably the #1 reason why people don't buy GM products over competitors. Nice interiors cost money though.
Also, 40k for a V8 sports car? The Civic Type R sells for 45k or more. No way modern day pricing supports a 40k V8 sports car that has any level of quality to it.
chargedcapacitor@reddit
When was the last time you drove a GM vehicle? Even the cheap traverse has a decent interior compared to similarly priced Toyotas, VWs, and Hondas. My 25 CT5V has a better interior than similarly priced BMWs.
Falloutvictim@reddit
FR. Between my wife and I we've owned/leased BMW, Audi, and Cadillac regarding comparable brands, so I have spent plenty of time in them. Currently we have my '25 CT5-V and her X5 SDrive40i. The Caddy interior, infotainment, etc. holds it's own if not better in some ways than BMW, and both are way better than Audi IMO.
chargedcapacitor@reddit
Audi interiors are such a disappointment. It's what held me back from considering one. With any luck, the next phase of BMW design will improve their interiors, but imo it's looking like Cadillac and possibly Genesis are the only "affordable" luxury game in town this generation.
Sarah_hussain09@reddit
New BMW interiors are HORRIBLE including the new M5 and even in the current 7 series. Been working at BMW for 12 years. Crazy how good the facelift CT5 is inside and out
chargedcapacitor@reddit
I'm excited for the upgrades to the 27 CT5 replacement. I really dig the new interior design of the Cadillac EVs. I believe they were designed by the same team that did the Bugatti interior. I just hope they don't bring the capacitive buttons along.
Ftpini@reddit
No way it comes in cheaper than a base Mustang GT. It’ll start around $47k plus delivery and everything else dealerships always tac on.
perennialpurist@reddit
There’s no way in the nine circles of hell that a new Camaro with V8 will be available under $40k. Maybe the base version with that 4-cylinder turbo they put in the Silverado, but no way the V8 will be under $50k in a world where a Mustang Dark Horse is going for $70k. If they do figure out a 2-door Camaro with a V8 and a 6-speed manual for even $50k, then I will be buying one as a weekend car for sure. But I can’t see how likely even $50k is without some horribly compromised packaging.
Compy222@reddit
Agree, the days of sub 45k deals on 1LE cars died with supply chain and inflation shocks during Covid. I do somewhat pine for the employee pricing 2SS 1LE days - those cars were monsters at sub-50k.
NoNeedleworker9246@reddit
So glad everyone knows this....When the car first came out I sat in one in a trade show I was so disappointed. The camero has such miserable visability, after that experience the challenger became like 20x cooler to me..

BUMBLEBEE IS BAAAAACK!!!!! Micheal Bay you better collaborate with GM to Build up the Hype for the car in a New Transformers Movie!
PEEWUN@reddit
I'd prefer if it were a good Transformers movie instead, but I'll take what I can get...
MikeofLA@reddit
They really should have built the Buick Avista back in 2017. That thing would have been a great competitor to the Lexus IS, BMW 3 Series, Audi S5, and Mercedes C class. It also wouldn't have really competed with their own Camaro, as it was luxury oriented. Hell, I probably would have gotten one back then.
https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/detroit-auto-show/news/a27848/buick-avista-concept-coupe-detroit-debut/
PEEWUN@reddit
Buick was in a battle with Subaru over who could disappoint the community more by not building their concepts.
That Avenir would've been beautiful to see on the streets. I'll never forgive GM for canceling the Omega project.
guisar@reddit
That’s a genuinely nice exterior!! mLove the rear styling with a hit of muscle car and a hint of e type!
YeonneGreene@reddit
So...a resumption of the previous status implementation plan.
PotentialGarlicPasta@reddit
Not really. From what GM Authority hinted at, it wont be a 2 door only like the original 7th gen was going to be. This would not he surprising, 4 doors outsell coupe 4:1.
PEEWUN@reddit
New Malibu, baby!!!
YeonneGreene@reddit
Sure, but using a sedan platform isn't anything new, both Zeta and Alpha were primarily sedan platforms. Releasing it as a sedan is specifically what's new.
The_Exia@reddit
I figured the Camaro would have to come back since Cadillac confirmed a next gen CT5. There was no chance the Lansing plant would stay open just for a sedan that sells so little.
The Buick is interesting news. I wonder with the death of the CT4 if GM wanted to try moving a compact sedan to Buick at a lower price.
Either way I hope its true, I'd buy a new Camaro in a heartbeat.
guisar@reddit
Why isn’t the bw more popular? i just don’t get it! Anyone who drives a bmw, would be way better off with a ct5- they are just amazing.
PEEWUN@reddit
Because a) the Bimmers are nicer inside (they look visually terrible to my eyes, though) and b) they just want the badge clout. Cadillac isn't back to where it should be just yet.
deja_entend_u@reddit
God give me a ct4 with an NA v8. I don't want and can't afford the ct5vblackwing.
real_fake_hoors@reddit
All I want is for them to go back to use nameplates and not this alphanumeric shit the Europeans do. That’s their thing and it’s great for them. That’s not how Cadillac do.

Craniummon@reddit
LS6 on SS, Lt6 on Z28, LT7 on ZL1
Umbra427@reddit
I don’t think flat plane cranks have a place in a Camaro. I have no source for this. It’s a conclusion based purely on vibes.
PEEWUN@reddit
If Ford can do it with the GT350...
Craniummon@reddit
Well... That's fine... Let's put the Lt6/LT7 on the Grand National or on the Caddies.
Umbra427@reddit
I think the Grand National would be an okay choice but would really love to see a turbo V6 there. The flat planes would be great in a little Cadillac roadster. Need something with more low end grunt for a caddy sedan
PotentialGarlicPasta@reddit
They might but it wont be the LT6. They did the same with the LT2. Probably an LS8 or something similar, modified heavily for front engine applications.
mannys2k@reddit
Hopefully with 2nd Gen retro styling 😆
ArcticBP@reddit
I doubt this’ll be a popular opinion but the 3rd was my favourite design, followed closely by the 4th
PEEWUN@reddit
The third was the best looking one, but that's an uncomfortable conversations for most...
mannys2k@reddit
3rd gen is a great style too. Had a 92 RS with a 5 speed a long time ago. Never really liked the catfish style though.
linoleumknife@reddit
I had a 4th gen, and back in the 90s and 00s I thought they were peak styling. Funny thing is, all these years later, and I think I actually like the 3rd gens more now.
Considering some other vehicles out there these days seem to have a bit of retro 80s styling, that would be awesome if GM made a new Camaro that borrowed a lot of the 3rd gen's style.
GrumpyCatStevens@reddit
The 3rd-gen F bodies were great looking cars.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Would like it having fastback feature like 3rd gen and catfish. Since Corvette goes mid-engine, Camaro can receive anything features from long hood Corvette.

All they need to do is stick with tremec and they'll be sellers. People will buy them just for the manual experience where reviewers aren't reluctantly saying buy it just because it has a manual. They'll be saying buy it because it has an amazing manual like they do now.
armchairracer@reddit
They'd sell dozens! But for real I really hope they do a rwd, manual, sedan with some sort of performance engine.

Big-Smoke99@reddit
Not enough people talking about this. Super weird timing that he retired before an incoming 7th gen. Wonder if he disagreed with the direction of the program or what
Vhozite@reddit
This is my read and I’m really curious if it ends up being a good thing or a bad thing. For example I can’t picture him being on board with a program that (hypothetically) turns the nameplate into an electric SUV. Or maybe they are simply making the car less compromised and he wasn’t on board with (again hypothetically) making the trunk opening bigger in exchange for more chassis rigidity.
Newer people with fresh ideas can be great but the Camaro was already a damn good car, and I’m afraid his retirement is due to a big departure from the previous formula.

I will legitimately buy a Buick if they make a V8 manual
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I suspect the Buick will the a 4-cylinder.
shouldahadaflat4@reddit
Yeah I mean that's what we all expect but I really wish GM would pair an N/A V8 with a manual in a sedan, and they haven't been willing to do it for Cadillac recently.
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
Maybe they will make the CT5-V a NA V8 and leave the turbo V6 for the Buick (i.e., the CT5 non-V V6). I worry that would make the BW less special, but in all honesty they could make a BW more on par with the Corvette's power and not impact Corvette sales. People don't cross-buy the two, and Caddy may want to take the BW even more up market.
Eggith@reddit
Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
motoguy@reddit
My prediciton: 4 doors looks similar to a 6th gen ZL1 2.7L i4 ~350hp base model w/ optional AWD 6.7L v8 ~535hp SS trim
AndreLeGeant88@reddit
I think my prediction from the other day might prove right. They will limit the CT5 to what is today the V and Blackwing, and the lower trim will be a Buick so as to make Caddy performance focused. What I don't know is how pricing for a Camaro will compare to a CT5V-Blackwing.
ringRunners@reddit
It's gonna come back as something that's not even close to a Camaro, some stupid bullshit that nobody asked for.
Significant-Dog-8166@reddit
I wish they could dial back the weight and give it good visibility this time and make a pony car instead of a porky car. The old Camaro looked nice but it was massive and had shitty visibility. The Challenger already does the big fat muscle car thing and the Mustang has been getting porkier every year as well. There's no light fun cheap American rwd coupe.
LA-ncevance@reddit
The Camaro weighed less than its competitors
Significant-Dog-8166@reddit
It was heavier than the Mustang, and the mustang is heavier than it was before. My 4 door 4.0 liter jeep cherokee was under 3000 lbs.
LA-ncevance@reddit
Latest Mustang Dark Horse is 3,930lbs.
halotechnology@reddit
Also the L4 like mine was only 3350 lb
Significant-Dog-8166@reddit
Yes for 1 out of 6 generations you're correct.
LA-ncevance@reddit
It is the most relevant one at this point, especially if the new Camaro is on the Blackwing platform, which is basically the same platform as the old Camaro (Alpha platform).
Storm_Chaser06@reddit
See it be a TT V6 like the Charger
halotechnology@reddit
Probably not I would live the L4 2.7 high output seems interesting
The question is will there be a manual on the smaller engine
Noobasdfjkl@reddit
When has the Charger ever had a TT V6?
Storm_Chaser06@reddit

Umbra427@reddit

PotentialGarlicPasta@reddit
Probably not... but it will probably be a 4-door and a 2 door 5 seats like the Charger.
GymLeaderMatt@reddit
Im a bow tie guy but I have my reservations. I really hope this engine is on new architecture because GMs currently small blocks are having all sorts of issues. I also hope that they engineered it so that when the CAFE regulations come back (cmon, it sucks but you know it will happen) that it will be able to pass emissions standards.
Barring that, the v8 will definitely be priced at 80k like the mustang currently is, with maybe the 2.7 turbomax 4pot as the base engine.
Ftpini@reddit
Fuck yeah!
camp_jacking_roy@reddit
6mpg just in time for $5 gas…why didn’t anybody buy this???

Here’s my theory,
Cadillac will still have the CT5 V Blackwing as reported.
CT4 V will still be here as a rebadge Regal (Blackwing being a Grand National) and a coupe version with a V8 will be a Chevy Camaro.
That way each brand has a different flagship performance car that won’t step on the Vette’s toes.
Bladex20@reddit
