Woke up to find a light switch turned off and another turned on. I live alone now and never sleepwalk. What could it be?

I remember every time I wake up for a wee. But I also have some mental dreams that make no sense, that feel incredibly real. Then the birds wake me at around 4.30 (I live in a rural area), I fall back asleep around 6am, alarm wakes me at 7am. Lots and lots of things going on in my sleepy brain during that time. It is possible that OP wakes up in the middle of the night and forgets.

I moved back in with my mum a few years ago. Ran into some old guy in the village whilst walking my dog. He knew EVERYTHING about me, my family, asked how my sister was, my mum, my step dad... he told me so much about how he and his children were coping after the death of his wife, trying to catch me up. The whole time I was staring at him, nodding and thinking 'WHO THE FUCK IS THIS MAN?' I went home, asked my mum, described him, told her his wife's name childrens name and my mum just looked at me, pondering. She also had no idea. I asked my stepdad and he was also stumped. To this day I do not know who that man is, but I wish I did because he seemed so genuine.

I called my sister a fat fucking fatty when I visited her earlier. She has put on weight since I last saw her (she has given up vaping and smashing the biscuits), I also call her a bitch and a cunt when I greet her. As her sibling, it is my duty to bully her. My mum visited her this morning and said she was in a bad mood, she spoke to her this evening and said that whatever I did cheered her up. Best friends get the same terms of endearment. I wouldn't be mean to just an acquaintance, though. Banter between besties is fun. If your friend is fine with it, and it isn't malicious, who cares about the opinion of others. I only go as far as my sister and friends can take. I have known them for 20-30 years. I know when to mess around, I also know when it is inappropriate, like when they are confiding in me. That's the thing about healthy relationships with people, you know when to mess around and when to be there for them. No idea what a limey is, but I dont even care. It is a joke between you and your friend.

You mentioned cherries, I hate those glaze cherries they out on a perfectly good cherry bakewell. I will not touch that radioactive cherry on top, except to remove it. But I will smash a bag of cherries in one sitting. I have to get them from the local veg shop, cannot find a decent punnet in a supermarket. They are so expensive now 😩 my mum bought a bag when I was visiting and got pissed because I ate the whole bag in half an hour. She knows they are my favourite. I bought a bag for her the day I left and her reaction was 'you know I won't eat all of them, take some with you'. I took half, and she actually finished her half before I even got home and said she couldn't help herself. No shit, I got my cherry addiction from someone.

Ladies: do you wear make up to work?

Posted by LunaValley@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 880 comments

liltrex94@reddit

I'm a cam girl, and 'natural' is kind of my niche. I wear powder for work. Lash lift, brow tint. In public, and every day life, no make up. Going out on a date with my partner? L'Oréal tinted serum, mascara and lipstick. I'm 31yo. I don't give a shit about what people think. Like I said, I'm a cam girl and my lighting does a lot of heavy lifting because I cannot stand the feeling of makeup on my face longer than a few hours.

Smoking and hanging around with the smokers. Luckily enough i sat next to my best friend from primary school. We are still best friends 18 years later. She is no longer friends with her other friends either. We went out into the big wife world, and are still best friends. I actually don't regret it. I have some really good friends at 32yo

Were you nervous before you smear test? What's your experience of them?

Posted by MooseAndMice@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 361 comments

liltrex94@reddit

For me it is uncomfortable but very important. I found out I had HPV and irregular cells. This meant I had to go and have a colposcopy. Obviously, I wasn't thrilled. It is much more invasive than a smear test and I had to have 2 biopsies on my cervix. Which, I will tell you, take the whole day off of work and take paracetamol 30 mins before your appointment. It is not great, but cervical cancer is much more scary. I had 3 years of getting a smear test every 6 months, resulting in 2 more colposcopies including biopsies until I was finally all clear. I am now back to a smear test every 3 years. Look, I know it is uncomfortable but it is necessary. Cancer is way more uncomfortable than a smear test or even what I went through. Take some paracetamol 30 mins before your smear test and hopefully it will make it less traumatic.

I find this an interesting subject. They were going to introduce wolves and bears into a sanctuary in the UK. With bridges above for people to see below. Many articles say that this would happen. But it hasn't happened. I am not sure why they haven't done this, but I think that they haven't done this because they cannot find a way to do it without people being at risk.

They make a quote or estimate. They stay as close as they can as long as there are no surprises. Client can accept or decline. But yes they track their profit machines.

Why do people pick up dog crap but then throw the bag with dog crap in it back on the floor?

Posted by Lower_Canary5713@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 45 comments

My sister calls the field next to her house 'a dogs toilet and would never let her kids in there. I took her dog out there and her neighbours' dogs a few times and the amount of dog shit I saw not picked up and had to tell 1 of the dogs off for even considering eating it, I completely understand why. There are bins on all 3 entrances, specifically for dog poo. WTF? No on likes picking it up, but if you have a dog it is your responsibility.

When you try to avoid feeling rough after drinking, what usually stops you from sticking to it consistently?

Posted by Bottle-New@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 33 comments

liltrex94@reddit

Alcoholic here, I drink 1 bottle of wine a day (planning to taper myself to zero). Used to be a whole bottle of spirits everyday. Tapered myself over months. On one bottle of wine I feel less groggy in the mornings than I did with spirits, or even 2 bottles of wine a day. I would have a homemade smoothie when I woke up. Banana, frozen berries, raw spinach, kefir and coconut water. Very tasty, easy to digest and hydrating. I forced myself to eat marmite on toast, with grated cheese, baked beans, a scrambled and sauted tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach at about 1pm. Maybe I will have some streaky bacon for a treat. For dinner, I usually make some kind of chicken dish. I can't eat beef, but beef might be a good option for you. I do anything that has lots of veg in. Casseroles, curries, roasts, stir fries, sometimes even a soup. I try to include garlic and ginger. I also take supplements every day, but if you are not a regular every day drinker you shouldn't have depleted too many vitamins. I am hoping to be sober by the end of this month but will keep to a similar diet and the supplements for quite a long time. If it is just an occasional hangover, maybe you can take some supplements, buy a smoothie, get a veggie fry up and be able to cook a healthy protein filled dinner in the evening. I find that a full English does not do it for me early on in the day. The eggs, cheese and beans are plenty protein. Marmite is also a great replenisher for b vitamins, coconut water is great for electrolytes. Bananas for potassium, blueberries and spinach are kind of 'superfoods' apparently. I also put oats, chia seeds and flax seeds in my smoothies. Can't remember why I do the last 2, but the oats help make it more filling (1 tbs sealed overnight in the coconut water) add a tsp of flax and chia in the morning before blending. It has been doing me well for years. I also vary the veg I have at dinner time. Onions, carrots, asparagus, green beans, swede, bell peppers (all colours), chilli peppers (all colours), spinach (again). When making a stir fry, i use like half a bag of beansprouts instead of a little bit instead of rice or noodles. It really helps me, hope it helps you too

Makes perfect sense, mine is in the bathroom but still have dirty laundry on my bedroom floor. I think with them saying basket instead of bin is where you get confused. My laundry basket is also often filled with clean unfolded clothes 🤣 but is travelled around the kitchen (have a garden with a washing line and a tumble drying in the kitchen) to the landing to the bedroom or pretty much anywhere in the house.

Not entirely sure, although one of them is also being tested for cerebral palsy which affects mobility and her sister walks around most of the time on her tip toes. The sketchers seem to help more than any other brands of shoes.
