There is a big difference between being able to quantify the number of children who were left home alone per generation than it is who cares about stuff or not.

I don't know about this trope that an entire generation doesn't care about anything that y'all keep pushing on the sub, but...What I will say is that, after a while, you start to realize that you're arguing with someone who is trolling you, and they are getting their jollies off of it, and you're never going to change their minds, so you stop doing it. Instead, you post positive things in support of the cause in question.

When Gen-X finally runs things will life get better?

I was always the doggo. Yes, my family likes to play with money accumulating from Community Chest fees in free parking. We all talked shit on the purple properties, but someone invariably won with them.

I definitely feel like time is going by much too fast. I definitely feel my age in a way that I don't think my parents felt theirs. But I think contentedness is something that we have to fit in the cracks. I think most days are going to vacillate between just there and slightly unsettled. I certainly value things way more than I used to, when I'm in a nice moment, I do my best to savor it.

My mom was never the easiest person to deal with. She could be so funny, and we definitely could have fun together, but she could also be cool and critical. My dad's last 5 years were a huge challenge. He missed my mom, and he wanted to a shell. He became grouchy and clammed up all the time. I would have so much more guilt though, had I not just sucked it up and given them a few hours of my weekend every other week. To say that you miss them when they're gone is an understatement. I have to really push my own son for his time now, but I do it, because it's important.

Not sure I understand your question. Music then was about the same things that music is about today: love, sex, heartbreak, loss, getting famous, loneliness, depression. My ex was in the business for a while. He encountered Stryper backstage once behaving decidedly ungodlike LOL
