What was this candy called? And what candy do you miss?

They were little mints in a sleeve, dusty pink. The packaging and presentation were very similar to Necco Wafers, but they were just these chalky pink mints. I loved the shit out of them.
Also Chiclets. Goddamn do I miss OG Chiclets. š
Outside_Outcome_8600@reddit
Brachs Neapolitan Coconut Sundaes. I've tried every copy I can find. Not the same. š„
Jcooney787@reddit
I miss Bazooka Joe gum with the little comic that came with it
Solid_Association_49@reddit
You can still buy it at my local wholesale club. We give it out by the handful on Halloween
Jcooney787@reddit
I didnāt think they were still in business I havenāt seen a Bazooka Joe here in Puerto Rico in like 20 years. Do they still have the little comic?
Solid_Association_49@reddit
Yep and theyāre still just as stupidly funny lol
Sufficient_Stop8381@reddit
Bonkers. I donāt think theyāre around anymore.
Oldebookworm@reddit
I separate them myself. Coworkers have commented on my color piles. M&Ms too
PixieCanada@reddit
I do this with skittles.
Oldebookworm@reddit
I do it to any candy that has colors. The different colors taste different
PixieCanada@reddit
Green apple 𤮠Lime š
youngkpepper@reddit
Lime lover too.
Even worse than green apple is fucking watermelon.
Cold_in_Lifes_Throes@reddit
Iām a fellow lime candy person who also isnāt happy they are turning all green into green apple flavor.
Moluv10Tymz@reddit
Bikers were so good they had like the light color center of the primary color for the flavor like strawberry š was pink inside right?
mmr1969@reddit
Certs!
EclipticEclipse@reddit
I saw that the mint ones are coming back. I want the fruit ones, though.
Educational-Earth318@reddit
i long for Bonkers
EclipticEclipse@reddit
There were people trying to bring back Bonkers about ten years ago. It turned into it turned into a whole shitshow on FB. It's worth looking up if you have some time to kill.
yourmomma5000@reddit
If you live near a Cracker Barrel they have a ton of retro candies!
Brittfish14@reddit
Dinosaur Eggs! Ugh I loved when I got my hands on those
Legitimate_Jump142@reddit
I do believe you were eating Rolaids
PixieCanada@reddit
Haha. My mother ate those like candy!
Waffuru@reddit
Pepsids are even more dangerous, they actually taste good! It's like Halls Breezers as cough drops... I'm sorry, that's candy. XD
dstarpro@reddit
Ludens are candy. I won't buy anything else.
Waffuru@reddit
Those are good, too! But, I'm telling you, strawberries and cream breezers... chef kiss
dstarpro@reddit
Yum!
HaloTightens@reddit
They donāt make Spree Hearts around Valentineās Day anymore. They were soooooo yummy.Ā
Imadethis23@reddit
Brachs Caramel Chews. The ones from the big pick-a-mix bins.
OkManner7521@reddit
The butter rum was my favorite
astronomisst@reddit
Brachs Sparkles. Oval hard candy with a dent in the middle. I especially liked the red one. It had a bit of a spice to it.
Flamegirl1972@reddit
My grandmother always had Canada mints (in the 70s)! I miss them.
Gratefulgirl13@reddit
Wacky wafers. They were kind of like giant tart n tiny but they came in a cellophane strip of multiple flavors. Strawberry was my favorite.
lancebassflavor@reddit
Still available!!
Gratefulgirl13@reddit
Where are wacky wafers available?!?! Iāve looked all over for years!
dechets-de-mariage@reddit
OMG Tart & Tinys! Thatās a throwback for sure.
LuckyAd2714@reddit
ABBA Zabba
Zaftygirl@reddit
Gimme gimme gimme
peeshofwork@reddit
I miss mixed fruit certs. From my youth, I used to love a Reggie bar and a Marathon bar.
CJK_Murph@reddit
I just looked on Amazon, Canada mints are crazy expensive now
Moist-Sundae-1116@reddit
Gobstoppers. They harder to find nowadays and theyāve made them easier to bite through, but I miss the OG bigger ones you could chip a tooth on.
Solid_Association_49@reddit
And choke on! I suspect thatās why we canāt find them anymore. Society is too litigious now.
HavBoWilTrvl@reddit
I miss Bottle Caps. I need to see if Mast General Store has them in their candy store.
Imadethis23@reddit
The original ones. The ones now have a weird taste and are too small.
No-Location-5995@reddit
Bought them at Walmart this weeek!
GunnCelt@reddit
Amazon has them:
https://a.co/d/03GMIX4Y
StrikingTradition75@reddit
I have terrible taste because my guilty pleasure was always Pucker Ups from the grocery store vending machine. Not a good candy, but positive memories from my childhood.
For reference: Pucker Ups
FeedbackExisting4762@reddit
Those remind me much of the Spree candy I loved as a kid. https://thewholesalecandyshop.com/products/spree-roll-original-36-box
GSWCPP@reddit
I loved Spree candies back in the day. They were my #1 road trip food :) Even more than the roll of regular Spree, I LOVED the giant, chewy Sweet Tarts (you can keep the regular Sweet Tarts though, Spree were MUCH better ;) that came 4 in a package. I usually just chewed on them whole but they were made to āshatterā into bite-sized pieces if you smacked the unopened package on a hard surface. Silly fun for middle school me š.
Pinkysrage@reddit
Marathon bars. They were my absolute favorite.
Slow-Objective-7440@reddit
Yes!!!!!!
Square-Wing-6273@reddit
I miss watchamacallits. And marathon bars.
Pinkysrage@reddit
So sad about marathon bars. Iād ride my bike to 7/11 and get them for a quarter.
Auntie_Venom@reddit
Whatchamacallits still exist
SugarsBoogers@reddit
Can confirm and will also say they are not nearly as good as I remember.
dechets-de-mariage@reddit
They ruined Whatchamacallit when they added caramel.
expespuella@reddit
I disagree. They are one of my favorites and I'm not a huge sweets person.
Present_Yak_6169@reddit
I loved (and I might be the only one) maple nut goodies by Brachās. They do not make them anymore.
MasterYam234@reddit
Maple nut goodies are the best! I havenāt thought of them in years. Sad to hear they donāt make them anymore.
Present_Yak_6169@reddit
We have a candy store locally that sells a lot of the older candy you canāt find anywhere else. I asked about them and he said theyāve been discontinued for a few years. Thereās really nothing similar on the market.
Pinkysrage@reddit
Rural king has fake ones.
Pinkysrage@reddit
Me and my dad were addicted to maple nut goodies. So yummy.
anon2univ@reddit
Marathon bars.
Pinkysrage@reddit
I said the same! My absolute favorite, loved that long Carmel braid.
ThisMomIsAMother@reddit
Yes! I loved those things. Cadbury has curly wurly bars that are the same thing but smaller.
TheeNihilist@reddit
Iām in sales and a decent person. Call the person by the name they are introduced. No brainer.
doglady1342@reddit
I think you might have the wrong thread.
TheeNihilist@reddit
What the hell. I responded to a comment about calling people the name they were introduced as.
Iāll be dumbass, I guess.
CDubs_94@reddit
No problem dumbass!
drunkenfool@reddit
No brainer.
PurplePenguinCat@reddit
I love Canada mints!
dstarpro@reddit
Or the ones that the diners used to have in a bowl with a spoon by the cashier, very hard to find now: butter mints.
PurplePenguinCat@reddit
A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I had a recipe to make butter mints.
dstarpro@reddit
I would love to see it!
Asleep_Caregiver_948@reddit
Certs: really great mints. Small pet peeve: all mints these days come in tins or plastic boxes that rattle in my purse. I miss mints in a paper roll.
drunkenfool@reddit
Was it Certs that sparked in your mouth if you chewed them up quickly?
SunshineAlways@reddit
Wintergreen Lifesavers sparked when you chewed them. I donāt know if Certs did as well.
LaLionneEcossaise@reddit
I think just the wintergreen ones did that!
Shopworn_Soul@reddit
I loved being able to stick a fingernail between two and pop the top one out without tearing a spiral of paper off the roll.
OkConsideration8964@reddit
I still get Necco Wafers. I also love Good and Plenty & Dots.
GrowlingAtTheWorld@reddit
Were the mints wintergreen? My Gma alway bought me pink wintergreen mints when I was a kid cause I love wintergreen. Search for Wintergreen Lozenges there are different brands.
dyscophant@reddit
Mojos
No-Ambition7750@reddit
I did!
PussySvengali@reddit
Chewels gum. It was little pillows of gum with a syrup center.
kabekew@reddit
Like Bubblicious Bursts. I think that was my favorite gum.
dstarpro@reddit
Freshen Up too!
VorpalBunnyTeef@reddit
The hard strawberry candies with a gooey center that only ever showed up at the Pepperidge Farm pop-up store in the mall at Christmastime. The wrapper looked like a foil strawberry. Theyād tuck a few into the gift boxes alongside the summer sausages and cheese balls.
Iāve found strawberry candies like them as an adult, but theyāre not as good as I remember. Maybe theyāve changed the recipe. Maybe Iām just old.
Livid-Improvement953@reddit
They sell these at my local Boomgaars Farm and Home store.
MB2katz@reddit
Do you mean Hickory Farm? āŗļø
VorpalBunnyTeef@reddit
Apparently I did! I think the last time I saw one of those pop-ups I was about seven, guess the memory is a bit fuzzy.
Difficult_Ad_2881@reddit
Canada mints. I used to choke on them as a kid. š«
Critical-Bass7021@reddit
I have a ton of Necco wafers stored away that I break out every now and then. So good.
doubleohzerooo0@reddit
Glucose tablets taste like Necco wafers.
SamHandwich0@reddit
Chick-o-stick
It was basically the inside of a butterfinger rolled in coconut
peacefinder@reddit
Zagnut bars are similar, though hard to find
DoookieMaxx@reddit
Those rule. Theyāre also still available. You can order them online with Amazon.
SamHandwich0@reddit
Damnint why did you tell me that? I just ordered a 48 pack.
DoookieMaxx@reddit
SamHandwich0@reddit
$17 for 48 of those bad boys is a deal!
eejm@reddit
I could find them really easily at Latin American grocery stores for a long time. Ā Then suddenly I couldnāt find them at all.
MedievalHag@reddit
You can get them at the Dollar Tree in the US. They are mini but still the same.
general-illness@reddit
Oddly enough thereās a pet store near me that has a old school candy section near checkout. They have chick-o-stick
Waffuru@reddit
I miss Abba Zabba. I think you can still find it in novelty candy stores occasionally, but it's not something you'll see in the grocery store anymore.
OTOKOKUMA@reddit
I grew up within walking distance of their manufacturing facility and warehouse. I ate so many as a kid in the 70s and 80s lol
Sadly, yet another thing ruined by private equity and covid.
Waffuru@reddit
Private equity ruins everything. I'm still bitter about Toys 'R' Us =<
japajew26@reddit
As a toy r us kid myself, Iām also still bitter.
Smallmyfunger@reddit
My local Winco has Abba Zabba.
Waffuru@reddit
Lucky! The last Abba Zabba I got was from my in laws, and they got it in a retro candy blind box XD
FormerCollegeDJ@reddit
Juicefuls (hard candies with a fruity liquid center)
Watermelon_Sugar44@reddit
Zots!! My husband was gifted a huge bag of Zots and it made me so happy to introduce our son to these.
youngkpepper@reddit
Milkshake candy bars
zanylanie@reddit
I miss Certs. My grandmother always had them. She kept them in her "pocketbook," but inside a sandwich bag, so they didn't take on that weird purse taste that was like a mix of staleness and copper.
Smallmyfunger@reddit
Or lipstick...
MindFluffy5906@reddit
They are still around! Different packaging though, as they now come in a bag, rather than a roll.
Leading-Love1212@reddit
Asto Pop, I don't think they were even that good, but I associate them with summers as a kid at the local swimming spot. They had a little snack stand that was likely way over priced. Boy could those suckers get stuck in your teeth.Ā
Duck_of_Doom71@reddit
I used one to pull out a loose tooth!
HavBoWilTrvl@reddit
You could stab someone with an Astro Pop.
You can still get them. Several "retro" candy places sell them online.
automaticgainsaying@reddit
Late to this thread, but throwing out a type of Little Debbie snack cake. They were coconut-based. Two sticks like a nutty bar, but white with coconut sprinkles. They disappeared sometime in the early 90s and I can barely even find reference to them online. (Although I havenāt done deep deep forensics on this - but I should.)
PollyEthyl@reddit
Yes!! I loved these. They were called Coconut Crunch. They also had one with mind covered in a thin dark chocolate that I loved too.
Moluv10Tymz@reddit
Wintergreen Canada mints?
RedditSkippy@reddit
I know exactly what you mean and I have no idea what they were called.
Maybe Vermont Country Store sells them?
bizzy816@reddit
Freshen up gum. Bubblegum flavor.
Shell-Fire@reddit
Omg. That squirt gum! Yes!
Goldie1976@reddit
I know exactly what you're talking about, but I have no idea what they were called.
Mom_who_drinks@reddit
I miss Marathon bars and one that was chocolate with a chocolate filling that was full of tiny bubbles but I donāt remember what it was.
Puzzleheaded_Try_911@reddit
Cadbury Wispa has the tiny bubbles in chocolate filling
Square-Wing-6273@reddit
Aero bars?
AryuOcay@reddit
Those are English and still available. Chocolite is gone.
Ok_Kick6546@reddit
Chocolite. Ā I loved both. Ā
la_winky@reddit
These are Canadian mints. No clue why theyāre called that.
I did like necco wafers though.
Auntie_Venom@reddit
OP are you thinking of Velamints?
zanylanie@reddit
I loved Velamints, but they were not the same consistency as Necco Wafers. Velamints had a kind of slick coating on the outside. Necco Wafers are like discs of the same material as conversation hearts.
Downtown_Anteater_38@reddit
OP, are you thinking of Canada Mints? The pink wintergreens?
wellbloom@reddit
Sky Barsā¦each piece had a different filling.
rollergirl77@reddit
A company in Sudbury MA bought the recipe and is making them again. I live local so itās easy, but you might be able to get them online.
wellbloom@reddit
Interesting! I grew up not too far from Sudbury!
rollergirl77@reddit
Same!!
AaronTheElite007@reddit
Ate a lot of candy as a kid. Don't touch it now. However, I have fond memories of PB Max and Zero bars
SecretLoathing@reddit
Mmmm, PBMaxx. (Were there two Xs? I think so, but not sure).
BottleAgreeable7981@reddit
Canada Mints
I-used2B-a-Valkyrie@reddit
I would commit WAR CRIMES for good n fruities!
myystic78@reddit
Canada mints were the first thing I thought of.
I miss pb crisps like flowers miss the rain.
HezFez238@reddit
The chocolate coated marshmallow snowmen but not the foamy stuff today. These were almost chewy (not rubbery), had a tiny bit of stretch to them. Like a marshmallow thatās been set out for a couple of days.
MedievalHag@reddit
Those and the chocolate coated marshmallow eggs at Easter. Havenāt seen those in years
Hemenucha@reddit
I miss Summit.
SubatomicGoblin@reddit
Wow, me too. I haven't even thought of those in forever, but they were good.
chubbymuppet@reddit
Scotch mints
Extreme_Succotash784@reddit
Did they taste like wintergreen? I think I remember them. Idk what theyāre called.
