Well I had a pigeon literally kamikazi dive bomb into my vans grill last year. Was travelling down the A130 and see it just nose dive, wings tucked into the front of the van. Spent about 2 hours wirh a set of needle noses picking feathers and cooked limbs out of the radiator assembly / steering rack. How it didnt cause a coolant look is beyond lucky.

Little pieces rub off over time. When you drive over a rough road surface, mostly when you corner. Dry steering will rub it off little by little also. Tyres mostly wear down from scrubbing from poor alignment. So id you want your brand spanking new Pilot Sports to last. Then go get a 4 wheel alignment done after theyre fitted. Sending it from standing starts is a big contributing factor if your wheel spinning it off the line as well as harsh braking events. If youre constantly tailgating and having to anchor it because your distracted thats a quick way to scrub off the rubber also.

Kid named Jay that had bullied me for 4yrs lobbed a nassive rock at me during lunch break and it hit me on my left knee and buckled it. I picked it back up and literally span like a 1080⁰ with my arm fully extended and huffed it back at him. It literally got lodged in his forehead Got suspended for 4 weeks for that. Then was back for 3 weeks after that and a lad named Paul that had been bullying me for about 2yrs came at me outside my music class at the top of a flight of stairs. He swang for me and i ducked and grabbed his arm and yanked it and sent him flying down the stairs. Ran down the stairs and stamped on his hands with my boots and broke two of his fingers. Sat in the head masters office being yelled at for being a quiet / good student up until recent until I burst out with "ive been bullied for about 4yrs and ive been telling you gormless dicks about it since it started and youve done fuck all about it so im doing something about it" Got suspended for another week and then put in isolation for 4 weeks after that. (This was the early 90's) These days i dont care if a bully gets violent with me ill always stand up and say or do something about it. Regardless of wether i get hurt or not. Fuck bullies

Ideally get some experience in either water treatment or plumbing before hand. Either 5yrs in water treatment or complete a plumbing NVQ (lvl2 minimum /3yrs) Or double down and study hard and memorise HSG 274 and ACOP L8 back to front..or spend the extra hours on site to get it right. (Likely unpaid though). Thing is if you hand back a schematic thats not readable or miss something that can eventually cause harm and someone else picks up on it. Youll be tossed aside. Its not an industry you can blag your way through the door, let me be clear on that. The rammifications both personal and financial if someone gets hurt / ill or dies are pretty major. The WH004 course alone costs ÂŁ1000 and if you fail it you get 1 re-sit. The other two courses for HTM 04-01 total up at ÂŁ1300 for the two courses (health care settings) and the course for cooling towers is another ÂŁ1000. Those arent courses you can just breeze through or be assisted via AI also. The trainers delivering the courses take it seriously and if they think youre not capable when you submit your practical exam they will not pass you because if they do and their name is signed off on your cert it looks bad on them and their company. If something was to go wrong the LCA / HSE will investigate every aspect including the person who signed you off also. And thats not something you want looming over your head.

How different is ‘work you’ vs ‘real you’?

I was offered a 12 month contract about 3 weeks ago. Not part time though. Risk Assessing is more of a full time role, cant say ive ever seen any part time positions advertised for the role. Its quite involved and your name is going against something which matters also. So if you get it wrong and someone gets ill / suffers a fatality. Your heads on the block for it. You could sit a WH004 course with no previous experience and pass with a good trainer but as I mentioned before if dont have a water treatment or plumbing background then youll struggle to land a role in the industry or pass probation because theyll suss you out pretty quickly

As long as they move when you need access to the public highway and arrnt doing anything bad. Looking dodgy wont illicit any action against them. If you really want to be petty, get a deck chair and a speaker and just go sit down at the garages and blast Classic FM out. If they moan, its a free country, right? Chances are theyll fuck off else where.

Also report to the RSPCA. If theyre living in heavily contaminated conditions they can and will do something about it. And if your neighbour has kids then thats a biological hazard shes exposing them to (elevated / consistant) Social Care and RSPCA will act pretty quickly on it.

No not really. It can site HSG274 / ACOP L8 easily granted but take a photo of a plant room and ask it to draw a schematic based off of the photo. It shits its brains out. Also same when you attempt it via video (and ive actually tried it a couple of times). AI isnt going to snoop around a building and find dead legs of pipework. AI isnt going to talk to the users of the buildings and ask questions and unearth info a human can. AI isnt going to be able to uncover what I can as a Risk Assessor. Do you think an AI is going to be curious enough to pick apart every inch of the building like I have to? I doubt its going to be *that* capable for a long time.

Cousin is very violent and abuses his family, what can be done?

Posted by Ding-Dong-Diddily@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 158 comments

-Rhymenocerous-@reddit

This is it wasnt a one off incident because he clouted my sister not long after and that was the first of a few times I bested my older brother. Dont assume you know my family. My younger brother beat his ex up and made her life hell until he had his head caved in by her new boyfriend. Same goes with my Dad after my parents divorce, he bullied an intimidated my mum until he copped a hiding for it and the police literally ignored him when he tried to report it. Take it from someome who spent their younger years being bullied by their own family & peers. Once you put them in their place they stop with the bullshit & violence. Granted he may divert his attention elsewhere but the consequences are going to be worse out in the real world and more imminent vs than at home and the lesson will sink in. I dont usually advocate for violence, nor do I ever invoke it in my everyday life but any lad / man that raises their hand to a woman (especislly their own mother) in my eyes needs to be put in their place. You can fairy up all the reasoning in the world. At 14 you know whats right and wrong. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way and that lad should either get a hiding for it or be sat in a juvenile center. Where the lads there will likely give him a clip when they find out he beat up his own mum anyway.

Anyone willing to hit their own mother doesnt give two flyings abour boundaries. Sometimes the Jordan Peterson approach works. I'll give you that. Sometimes they need to be brought back down to earth and be reminddd someone bigger than you will put you in your place.

At 14yrs old you know whats right and wrong and you know that raising your hands to your mum is not on at all. My older brother copped a fucking hiding from my dad once and that was because my brother raised his hand to hit my mum after she slapped hom for calling her a bitch. You think he ever did it again after that? I feel pretty strongly about boys / men that hit women. Theyre cowards, regardless of whatever reason theyve become violent. Anyone of the male gender that beats women deserve everything they get. Idc what anyone thinks about my position. Ive even had the shit kicked oit of me when ive seen a guy spank a woman infront of me and ive spanked them for it and lost. I genuinely dont care if I lose, I just want them to know theres a consequence for it and someone will hurt you back eventually.

Id ensure that extract fan is at least 150mm diameter or larger otherwise youll be dealing with mould very soon. Also if theres no window it should have a 15min over run time on the extract to ensure moisture is sucked out of the room after youre done. If it doesnt pass those tests then talk to the estate agent and ask questions

In 2005 my old man was pulling in ÂŁ40k as a British Gas / gas fitter / plumber. And about ÂŁ8k a year in scrap / ÂŁ20k per year in private work. As well as flipping used cars and idk how much he made off that tbh. Im one of 8 kids. As.much as I hate my old man, we never wanted for nowt. Nice 5 bedroom house, 2 holidays a year, mum had a 3 Series M sport on the drive and dad had an S Type jag when they were first released. Thats probably over 100k per year in todays money.

We’re trying to decide whether buying a newer car now is a smart move or not?

Posted by taytayyas@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 36 comments

-Rhymenocerous-@reddit

Depends on what the repairs are. A 2012 Juke is likely in need of; * new engine mounts * new control arms * suspension on the front has likely sagged a fair amount * rear suspension bushes are likely very crusty * rear shocks * Being a 1st gen (especially if its diesel) will very likely need a carbon clean (as its a city driven car) * Likely has never had a proper coolant flush / brake line flush * If its an auto, chances are the transmission is overly due a fluid change and the end points have drifted out of alignment for the TCM. (Also happens on manuals but you can easily re-adjust the gear cables) If your car savvy enough most of that is easy enough to DIY and fairly cheap if you use AUTODOC for parts. Youd need alignment after doing any suspension work though. If you take the 2020 car id strongly recommend keeping on top of the service intervals being a wetbelt and taking it for a motorway drive every so often and letting the car idle after a long trip for about a minute so you dont 'coke' the turbo and burn oil into carbon and brick your turbo prematurely. If you want an honest opinion book it for an inspection at a proper garage (usually 70-100) and just ask the mechanic when you pick it up wether its worth it or not. Theyll tell you outright wether it is or isnt.

It would very likely change pretty quickly. Plus youll.be stopping an illicit trade of drugs and regulating it. As it stands the drug industry is big enough to be listed on NASDAQ

Graft and pay attention to detail. In all senses. Its sooner time to leave when you do. Keep it up quietly for a long patch of time and stay consistant. Set that as your new level. Then improve on it every 6 months or so. Youll get better, faster, more accurate, more knowledgable. The devil's in the detail a lot of the time. I became very, very good at a job in an industry I knew nothing about in 6 months and got promoted to supervisor within that 6 months. Just off all mentioned above alone. Within 4 years I was the highest paid supervisor on the firm. When I went in and asked for payrises / further training I had a solid footing to base it off. (Heres how I started this year, this is what ive improved on, heres the problems ive eliminated and heres what ive saved in time & money over the year etc.)
