Skipping, WTF?!?

Posted by roanokephotog@reddit | GenX | View on Reddit | 770 comments

nadacloo@reddit

In grad school I studied how much oxygen is used while skipping vs walking or running at the same speed. Skipping uses more oxygen because there's a vertical component, a small jump, that isn't used in walking or running. So skipping is less efficient than walking and running, more energy spent to cover a given distance. Our ancient ancestors had it figured out. Important when resources are scarce.

I just saw an episode of the TV series "Wild Wild West" (1960s) that had a very young Richard Pryor in a small, but speaking role.

What song from your past makes you crank up the radio and just rock out? 🎸🔥

As a retired Gen Jones, I 100% agree. People that have saved enough to retire should retire to make room for the next generation. Bored in retirement? Heck no! You can be as busy as you want to be.

Ok Gen X, anyone got crude yet wise advice or sayings to share?

I’m sorry you (and the lady before you, dang!) had such a bad experience. I’ve had several colonoscopies one or 2 polyps removed and it was all pretty smooth. Yeah, the prep sucks. If you’re over 40 with a family history of polyps or if you’re over 50, get scoped. Good luck to all.

The small hardware store that was in the tiny (population ~200) village where I grew up. Smelled of sawdust and oil and had so many different things all over. I have only a vague memory of it, but it was magical to the young me.
