Sorry, hated Panda Pops as a kid (early-80s for context). They were made by Hall and Woodhouse, same company as Badger Beer. When I was old enough I realised their beer was just as bad.

In the 90s I worked in the UAE on the oilfields, staying in "camps" (basically loads of porta cabins). Every week you got a clean towel and a bar of soap. Didn't buy a bar of soap for 5 years. I think I even bought what was left when I moved back to the UK.

Why are there so many diesel trains in the UK?

Posted by PodcastListener1234@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 224 comments

mk6971@reddit

Because the successive Governments have failed to provide enough money for electrification over the decades. Unlike France and Germany who took the opportunity, when repairing the war destroyed railway infrastructure, to increase electric. We were too obsessed with steam and diesel!

What’s the likelihood of someone in the UK being pulled over or spotted as someone driving without a license?

You CANNOT be insured with no licence. She is breaking the terms of her insurance. If she is caught she will be arrested and her car impounded. She is a selfish bitch as she is one of the many reasons why insurance premiums are high. In my opinion you should anonymously report her to the police.

Posted by Burnatheburner@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 453 comments

mk6971@reddit

Write her a letter back stating the law. Ie it's a public road and people can park anywhere. Homeowners do not own the patch of road in from of their if there are no designated parking bays.

You act like Churchill has always been on the £5. He hasn't. He's just one of the many images added to our notes over the decades.

British people, were you taught not to use the Oxford comma?

Posted by acnllover2828@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 591 comments

I was taught that the last comma, before the "and", in the list wasn't required. I'm in my mid-50s so it's probably changed! 🙄

Should the bath mat get wet?

Posted by souptight52@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 359 comments

mk6971@reddit

The bath mat is to stop you from going arse-over-tit when you step out with damp feet. You dry off in the bath/shower. The mat is not a towel if it was you would be washing it every week.

Bike path etiquette. Do you always call out/ring bell when passing someone?

Posted by diatom_nerd@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 129 comments

mk6971@reddit

I always call out. People barely hear bells, especially if they have ear buds in. The hypocrital runner thought takes the piss. Round where I live runners pass walkers almost brushing your elbow. God help you if you get a load of runners, it's like they expect you to evaporate!
