How do you eat chilli?

Iβm from the UK btw
Me and buddy are in a big old argument on whether you eat chilli (and rice of course) with a SPOON or FORK.
This is really crucial btw I have money waging on who gets more votes- spoon or fork

Autumnclarke94@reddit

Spoon. It's hard to get the last juicy bit with a fork.
TikiKie92@reddit
I used to be a forker, until I realised that eating like a child and using a spoon was actually far more efficient and provided a more stable platform for the mound of food Iβm about to put in my mouth.
You can take anyone saying they eat chilli with a tortilla chip as team spoon too I think, for it is undeniably a more spoon like food vessel than a fork.
AnAngryMelon@reddit
I feel like the association with children is just bizarre, it's simply a better suited tool and the spite people have in refusing to use it because it's too easy or something is weird to me. And if anything that's probably more childish.
Idk why people think they're flexing by using a fork, the rest of us can do it too but we'd rather not waste our time. Sort of like using scissors to cut a potato and then acting like that's more mature because it's harder. π€·π»

anoolfishha88@reddit
rice = spoon, you're wither a sadist or a very wasteful person if you eat rice with a fork
AnAngryMelon@reddit
Spoon.
Spoon is specialised for malleable foods with few or no chunks (like chilli) or particularly wet foods. It's got scooping.
Fork is specialised for poking things, particularly large chunks, and can suffice for scooping but it is obviously inferior in that respect to a spoon.
Fork has little to no benefit over a spoon for chilli (unless maybe you cook chilli with massive chunks of meat in it?), and is not as good at scoop. Spoon is the clearly winner for me.
Zestyclose_Guess934@reddit
Spoon everytime
RBisoldandtired@reddit
Fork. The rice and chilli combined gives structure lol
If it doesnβt, youβve made it wrong
AnAngryMelon@reddit
It does give enough structure that forks are a viable option but that still doesn't mean that it is better than a spoon for the task.
The fork offers no practical benefits over a spoon and has reduced scooping capacity.
RBisoldandtired@reddit
I donβt see what a spoon offers either though. Like itβs not a soup. It shouldnβt be thin enough to fall through the prongs and if itβs about just shovelling as high a pile of food into your gob as quickly as you can, then you need to masticate more lol

I am from Texas. I've been making Texas chili for 52 years. But, I put lots of beans in my chili. And, I use at least three types of fresh and four types of dried chiles in my chili. Also, we have to eat it with a spoon. Although, it's thick, it's still a soup, almost like a stew. You make it with water (or beer) diced tomatoes and the juices from the tomatoes.
Chili is always served at bars and restaurants in the US with a spoon. It's popular during football games (American football, not soccor). It is ladled into a bowl like soup.
Chili is never served with rice. I think you are confusing it with red beans and rice, a totally different dish. Although some people like it over spaghetti topped with raw onions and cheese. That is called "five way chili".

Rice is to be eaten with a spoon in most of the world. Iβm not using a spoon to eat my pasta and Iβm not using a fork to eat my rice. However chilli doesnβt have to be served with rice so depending on what it is served with it can be eaten with a fork, spoon or hands.

As much as I love them I simply couldn't commit to just one item of silverware. Also, even given a level of open mindedness that would cause most to reach for their safe words, I would find consummating that glorious union on the more difficult side of problematic. The nuptials would be embarrassing for friends and family alike.
It's one of the more interesting suggestions made to me but, alas, I must decline. But I doff my cap to your fork purity and wish you many happy chillies.

Of course a spoon; How can a fork be more effective for eating rice or stew than a spoon? What use is a prong for either? If you're using a fork for chilli and rice, you are using it to scoop up the mixture. Scoop, not stab. A spoon is objectively a superior scooping implement to a fork. Using a fork for chilli is like using a spoon for steak.

TLDR: Chilli on a plate = knife and fork. T'upperware = spoon.
Normally (when it's on a plate) with a knife and fork. But... today I took chilli rice and cheese to work in tupperware, so I used a spoon as its easier to use ONLY a spoon with tupperware as you can get all the last little bits a lot easier. Where as on a plate, a knife and fork is far superior.
