It's a 4.5 foot bed. I would rather just buy a hatchback and leave bed duty to my actual truck. I enjoy the Maverick. I think they drive well and they look good, and they've been reasonably reliable in my experience in a Ford service department. I would never buy one though. 6.5 foot bed or bust, for me

Front wheel drive is excellent in the snow with snow tires. Bonus points with a limited slip diff. That was my setup when i was living in New England. I've never felt the need for all wheel drive. I live down south now. Zero reason for me to ever own an all wheel drive car at this point. Just more stuff to leak

Honestly. My last build was early 21 and i was able to build a 10700k pc for like $1200. I'm still using it today, with the only upgrades consisting of more ram, a 5070Ti, and a different case. I'm seeing dudes saying they got a screaming deal at almost 4 grand, which is nutty. 2021 wasn't even the best time back then. Just better than today

Yup. OP needs to realize that different people have different financial priorities as well, so some decide they can swing it while others don't at the same income level. Lots of nuance here

SHOs are cool, but i have a good amount of experience with them, having worked for Ford for a number of years. That car has the ability to bankrupt someone who isn't prepared for it. Higher mileage examples will probably need both turbos and a water pump at some point. You're like 8 or 9 grand deep there. Not to mention parts for them are generally pretty expensive for the SHO-specific stuff. I also just think they're incredibly cramped inside for how big the vehicle is, but that's just me. Tldr, SHO is cool but i wouldn't recommend as a first car

You're correct. It's fast enough. It's about on par with every other sedan of the time. I don't have any complaints about performance. That's not what I bought it for in the first place

Super beetle reminded me of some buggies I drove in Baja California. These things used non-turbo 2.5L subaru engines mated to what felt like a beetle 4 speed, all bolted to a purpose built tube chassis. Sloppy is right lol. I got a feel for it after a while but it was crazy compared to the 2020 Si i owned at the time

I'll occasionally get my high school go-to just for nostalgia's sake. A McDouble, a McChicken, and some fries. I always feel like ass after, but in the moment, that shit *hits.* Reminds me of walking to mcdicks with my buddies after school to hang out before going home for the evening. I'm fairly health conscious when it comes to food, so this is maybe a once-per-quarter type deal. That, or a road trip pit stop meal

Your car can't depreciate if you only buy at the bottom of the curve. I bought my Crown Vic for $500, put a few grand into it, and could probably sell it for 6-7k tomorrow if I wanted to. Same with my old F150 that I got for stupid cheap. Your friends got nothing on me, baby.

Worth getting a manual?

Posted by Trayceopolis32322@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 65 comments

iHaveLotsofCats94@reddit

I've been daily driving manual cars for a decade. They're fine in every situation once you're used to it. That said, my Crown Vic is much nicer in stop and go traffic, especially when driving up a hill. Manuals are fine in traffic as long as you try to leave a gap to minimize coming to a complete stop, but I'm not gonna act like an old slushbox isn't nicer in that context. Learn to drive stick and see if you like it. Some people don't, and that's perfectly fine. That's why cars are made with options

I have an 04 Crown Victoria and a 2000 F150. I don't see myself ever getting rid of the truck, but the vic is a pain in the ass. There's always something wrong with it. Both cars have 133,000 miles

It's much more convenient to have a truck when I go get stuff for the house, go to the dump, or buy big objects. I would have to find somewhere to park an empty trailer that would sit unused the majority of the time. Currently I have two cars and a truck. I swap between my car and my truck, and my SO has her hatchback. It's a great setup

> that was only the older ones Ironically, the older ones are the ones to get. Accents and Elantras from before the days of direct injection are reliable little cars. They're just shitty lol. I'm with you though. The internet loves to glaze the Korean cars these days, but I've been working in the auto industry long enough to know that it's a lipstick on a pig situation. They're still junk just like they were 10-15 years ago

Posted by Lurkie2@reddit | askcarguys | View on Reddit | 16 comments

iHaveLotsofCats94@reddit

If there's glitter in the oil, i wouldn't do anything aside from replace the engine. Not to mention that's an interference motor, so jumping time like that is typically a death sentence. My opinion is either replace the motor and drive the car for a good long while, or sell it for scrap/parts and spend the same amount on a different used car, which is a gamble in itself, especially on short notice

iHaveLotsofCats94@reddit

Why would they be shit? There are plenty of good torque converter autos out there. I personally wouldn't buy a dual clutch because they don't do anything better than a good traditional auto to justify the increased maintenance costs. They're also worse in low speeds than a traditional auto
