How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older?

I have two Registered Ford Trucks, 1997 Ford F350 crew cab dually 7.3 Powerstroke diesel pickup with 384k miles
I also have a 2001 4x4 Ford F350 crew cab long bed dually 7.3 Powerstroke diesel truck with 366k miles on it.
They are stock height, no lift kit.
LV_Devotee@reddit
2 of my 3 cars are over 20 years old. A 2001 Volvo V70 and a 2005 Audi A4
Ggeunther@reddit
We have a 1997 F250 7.3 litre with 455K miles on it. We also have a 2004 Chevy Kodiak with 184K miles on it. The Kodiak is used primarily for pulling a larger camper, and the F250 is my wife's daily driver. She loves that F250, and will not part with it. Both trucks are stock, no chips, no lift kit, nothing special on them.

2004 honda pilot, 284k miles, second owner. Purchased at 160k in 2018 for $3800.
There are some little annoying things now like AC doesn't blow in the back, and drivers window only works in the winter. Seat heaters were broken before I got it.
I installed a hitch, I've replaced 2 or 3 brake calipers, done a full brake pads & rotors job once I think, I did front struts a couple years ago. I've done timing belt once and spark plugs once.
Transmission is fairly strong. I've had to replace one (easy, external) solenoid. Replaced battery maybe twice.
Engine runs great. I did have a mysterious random misfire that turned out to be one bad coil. It loses about half a quart in 7500 miles.
Starting to have some rust problems. I'm keeping the frame together with PB Surface Shield and Rustoleum Rust Reformer.
xnoxpx@reddit
Lets see, daily driver is an 05 GMC, I also own an 06 Jeep Rubicon unlimited, since new (1 of 3 years produced)
I ride an 05 Harley Ultra Classic, and also have a newer 09 Harley Softtail Springer.
Though I did look at a '2018 Harley Ultra the other day that had a double DIN touch screen radio for $12K, but ended up passing (on a road trip to TN at the time)
anodraeus@reddit
I've owned, while on the smaller scale of vehicles, a 97 Saturn Sl2, 97 chevy s10, a 99 Honda Crv, and my current 97 Civic coupe. I seem to have a thing for 97 models apparently lol. The civic has been with me the longest; it's been repaired a lot because of the high volume of driving, but it keeps driving well. The engine functionality is basically pristine even for being over 300k miles. As long as I i keep the car from rotting away from rust, I'll probably always have this car.
i-call-your-bluff@reddit
I did up till Monday was a 1999 toyota corolla still was going strong but was wanting something new. Went with a honda civic

1982 Datsun 720 here. Well, she’s not my daily, but she does put in work
Due-Challenge9934@reddit
All my cars are "classics", 2002's and 2006's. I wouldn't buy newer than 2012 due to electronics and overall complexity plus plastic parts on engines.
Professional-Math518@reddit
My current car is 19yo. Until 2022 I had a car (Mitsubishi Colt) from 1998. Still one of the most problem free cars I ever had.

My daily driver is from 2007, almost there!
awesomeperson882@reddit
Same here, 07 Passat wagon, 6MT. 273,000km on the clock.
Gaffja@reddit
I had one of these and loved it, especially in a manual. Rust won the day unfortunately.
2006 Porsche Cayenne replaced it which may be my favorite vehicle I've owned.
awesomeperson882@reddit
Yup, the rust is just starting to get to a few spots unfortunately, underside is clean. Honestly a great daily, and as a perk it tows dirt bikes or a seadoo shockingly well.
It’s fast enough and very comfortable, plus the Blue gauge era of VW was the best
OldeWorldWays@reddit
My 66 doublecab and my 93 Corrado would disagree with your blue light instrument era.
awesomeperson882@reddit
I want a VR6 corrado so bad lol
Responsible_Bus_7695@reddit
I had a 91 Passat Synchro G60??1.8L supercharged, loved it
Gaffja@reddit
I loved those back in the day.
There was a red synchro wagon with the synchro graphics on the rear quarter I'd see often.
Responsible_Bus_7695@reddit
Yes, it was a great driving machine. As a father but also driving in a car pool, I always checked the back seat for comfort. The back seat in that car actually reclined by way of the seat pan sliding forward with the back rest hinged at the rear of it. Still had enough leg room! And it would go like heck, had it just over +230km/h by throttled back at that point.
OldeWorldWays@reddit
I've had mine since 1998
Intrepid-Grade6625@reddit
I looked at a pristine 2008 Cayenne but couldn't get past the low gas mileage. I hated to pass on it but knew that as much as I have to drive, it was not going to be a smart buy for me at least.

Love it! 2007 Audi RS4 with 212k miles here.
DaHooze@reddit
Love myself a B7!! RS4 is peak
jafo@reddit
I had a 2005.0 B6 and loved that thing, but I was paranoid around 100K that if anything went wrong with that german watch under the hood, that it'd be insane to repair. Glad you've got 200+K on it!

214k on an audi! Lots of repairs or not so much? We had a 99 VW Passat 1.9 turbo, lots of sensors, lots of electrical issues, only kept it five years.
NakedJamaican@reddit
We had a 2001 A4. Lots of sensors, lots of electrical issues. We finally sold it to our mechanic. Two weeks later the turbo exploded.
currancchs@reddit
I bet that mechanic had some fun in those two weeks
NakedJamaican@reddit
Not much fun, actually. The car was mostly in the shop. He took it around the block for a diagnostic run and kablooie!
currancchs@reddit
aww, too bad. I had high hopes that it was at least a fun two weeks for the new owner and that the turbo went to Valhalla.
p-angloss@reddit
i had a slightly younger a5 and it was issue after issue and every time you need proprietary diagnostics.... :(
Responsible_Bus_7695@reddit
I had the same Passat, syncro, but that was supercharged, not turbo. Same as the Scirocco.
DaHooze@reddit
Yes 214k on an Audi V10. Not too many repairs, lots of maintenance.
SNOWR8R@reddit
An aluminum body and a lambo V10. It takes a real automotive masochist to daily something like that! I salute you! And that’s coming from a someone with 13 cars from 1986-2001.
DaHooze@reddit
It's honestly not been as bad as most people expect. There were a couple of big ticket items when it had 140-170k but nothing out of the ordinary. It was 100k+ car new so obviously it's more money to maintain than anything else on the road, especially considering the engine has no business being in this chassis really.
Access to some items is nearly impossible without dissassembling the front end or an engine removal, that's really the biggest problem with the car. Now in 2026, some part availability is a problem, this car only shares an engine with the R8, and even that isn't a 1 to 1 comparisson.
I usually expect to spend 2-3k a year to keep it on the road, I drive about 20-25k miles a year.
Let's not talk about MPGs though....
GreenGrass_Bees7@reddit
We have a 2007 Infiniti G35 with 85,000 miles on it. We bought it as a summer car and only drove it in the summer. Now my husband drives it but he only goes to the office 2 days a week. We plan on driving it as long as we can. That car is fun to drive, too. It’s the coupe with 2 different sized tires on the front and the back so tires are expensive since we can’t rotate them, but that’s the only downside.
froction@reddit
Same, fellow 2007er! I've got about 235K on my piece of crap HHR I paid $900 for in 2020.
FirehawkLS1@reddit
No matter if it was before or after the pandemic used car market got way more expensive, that is a heck of a deal. Last time I spent around 1000 USD on a vehicle, it was my first car in the late 90s!
hatchhazard@reddit
Hell you could pick up cars here for 1k, shoot I'm selling one right now for 1k with 140k miles and new Toyos, whole new front end of the motor save the ps pump n pulley, and new fuel pump n starter, regular maintenance. And no one is biting.
FirehawkLS1@reddit
Seriously? What car is it and where are you located?
hatchhazard@reddit
Northern Wyoming Ford Taurus
FirehawkLS1@reddit
Any Ford Taurus that runs and drives is worth at least $1000 and more depending on what the age is and what has been replaced. I have an 08 Limited AWD.
hatchhazard@reddit
For real, for being a Ford its actually a reliable American platform. Parts are easy and cheap, it'll go 300k plus miles with regular oil changes and maintenance. It's not a cool Awd or even that new lol. It's 2002 or 2003, the ugly bubble body lol
FirehawkLS1@reddit
Still a reliable and good year. Those things will outlast a lot of things if maintained.

I missed your cutoff by 2 years. I had an 18 year old car's transmission go out. At 343,000 miles, it was time to move on anyway.
I didn't plan to, but I bought another car the same year that was owned by an old lady who drove very little so at least the "new" car was much lower miles.

You’ll need to explain why you wanted to, but didn’t need to, rebuild a Jeep engine.
Competitive-Pie-Eate@reddit
I had a small manifold leak. So I took the opportunity to rebuild as much as I could (without removing it). Learning moment before my 17 y/o got the keys.
NakedJamaican@reddit
My 2003 Liberty is currently on my lift with 85k miles; might not make it to 86.
spider1178@reddit
I got my 04 Liberty to 375k before I traded it in. The lower doors and rocker panels were rusted out, and rear differential had a slow leak, but the engine still ran good (except the terrible gas mileage).

It has held up amazingly well to a 17-going on 20 year-old college boy. It’s fucking huge and has tons of trunk space for all his football gear. It fits all his friends. It isn’t pretty, it has a column on the shifter, but the V6 is smooth and gets close to 30 miles per gallon.

91 Ram cummins dually 97 Firebird Formula 2005 Toyota Sequoia 2005 Yamaha R6 2010 Subaru Impreza base
The ram is a project truck but I still daily it (unfortunately, it's going to be retired to project work truck status soon when I'm able), the firebird I got to drive as a sports car but it ended up blowing a head gasket I believe, or possibly issues with the Optispark, not sure. The sequoia I got as a reliable daily driver / adventure and camping vehicle, the r6 was originally gotten to be a squid on, but now being in California with a regular 4-5hr round trip drive at least once a week I ride it whenever possible because it can shave off 20% of that trip by splitting through traffic, and it's actually affordable to use in this state. The Impreza I bought as a winter car back when I lived in Wisconsin, I blew the motor (don't buy a Subaru) and swapped a refurb one in but the return one burns crazy amounts of oil and the oil gets dirty within a thousand miles. I'd say the r6 and the Sequoia are the ones I'm the happiest with. I wouldn't buy another 4th gen Firebird I don't think, and the 1st generation Cummins trucks were shipping crates for the motor, if I got a truck I'd get an old OBS or Bricknose Ford and swap a cummins into it, I'd never buy another Subaru just because the engines are so bad but the AWD is unbeatable and the car itself isn't bad aside from the engine.

I daily drive a 1995 Honda Accord. Best car I've ever owned in terms of reliability. Only ever been on the side of the road once. Upper radiator hose clamp snapped, hose popped off, dumped my coolant.
I had a gallon of coolant, a 32oz water bottle, a bladder full of piss, and one of those universal inner tie rod removers that looks like an exhaust clamp. The tool sufficed as a hose clamp, and that piss finished topping off the radiator. Still circulating in there to this day.
I wanna say in 7 years of ownership its cost me a grand total of $3500 in repairs and maintenance items. Got it at 185k miles, sitting on 255k now.
bigcee42@reddit
I just bought a 30 year old car. Gonna apply for historical plates!
OldeWorldWays@reddit
I have two weekend cars with antique plates. No application needed here. Just fill out the form and pick up the plates.
On my VW 66 doublecab I did source a pair a 1966 Texas Truck plates at swap meet so when the last renewal came due I took those plates in and now they are assigned as the antique plates for my truck.
FirehawkLS1@reddit
I opted for the expanded use antique plates on mine. I just can't drive it from November up until March. I wouldn't want to anyways due to the fact that we get snow those months and I have another vehicle that I use during those months. That's awesome that you were able to snag those 66 truck plates!
OldeWorldWays@reddit
No snow here. Well nothing like when I lived 1400 miles to the east.
I don't drive them much in the blazing heat of summer here so that gives me a week of Autumn and two weeks of spring!
FirehawkLS1@reddit
I don't blame you. My A/C was inoperable for the last 10 years until I fixed it back last October. So I really didn't drive the car when it was hotter than 90 degrees out. Even with the windows rolled down and the t-tops off, I wasn't about to get home from work drenched in sweat. 🥵😂
OldeWorldWays@reddit
No a/c in my 66 doublecab or my 74 Type 181.
FirehawkLS1@reddit
Yeah I definitely understand not driving that when it's hotter than hell out!
OldeWorldWays@reddit
Six months of hell here in Texas during summer. I miss living in Europe and or Virginia for their summers vs this soul & asphalt melting heat that is a few weeks away.......
FirehawkLS1@reddit
I plan on moving to Arizona sometime in the near future, that's definitely my future as well. Might as well kiss any rubber suspension components, bushings, soft lines goodbye once I get out there. I'm getting ceramic window tinting done on all of our vehicles. I get it's trading snow belt issues for sun belt issues but I'm ready to not have to deal with the snow or salt ever again. The trade-off has other issues but I'll take them over this slop here.
OldeWorldWays@reddit
I lived in southern Arizona ages ago when my Dad was in the military & more recently I the phoenix area for a mobile air conditioning trade show (the other's half's work back then) so I drove to Chandler to step into one of the shops that I have bought parts from online.
Phoenix and south is hotter n Ballz in the summer "but it is a dry heat" haha! (it is Still f'ing hott!)
Rubber and plastic survives pretty well unless it is exposed to the UV/Sunlight.

Ya'll still buy license plates? It turns out that my folks were right all those years ago, if I stay out of town I stay out of trouble
no_clever_names@reddit
It might depend on the state, but there is a mileage restriction on historical plates where I live. I’m sure the DMV doesn’t check, but if it’s a car that stands out it is something to keep in mind.
OldeWorldWays@reddit
Curious as how mileage is tracked on antique vehicles that have no odometer?
Here in Texas there is no yearly inspection and the plates are good for 5 years.
no_clever_names@reddit
I think it wouldn’t be reasonable to track in that case. My stuff is 80s with odometers, though my county doesn’t have emissions or inspections so after initial registration I can renew by mail.
OldeWorldWays@reddit
Mine are 60s and 70s with odometers as well but still curious as to your "tracking if mileage"? I register by mail as well. Zero inspections here after 25 years and no inspection at all if diesel.

It needs some replacement suspension at this point, but 4 new struts will cost me $200! Even if I do get a truck at some point for heavy utility use, I will always have this little car, or some kind of compact commuter. Plus, I’m very interested in trying a K-Swap at some point. Not shooting for big power, just modern acceleration, because sometimes it struggles to get out of its own way with probably 90hp at this point. Having at least 200hp would be game changing for this chassis while retaining fuel economy!

My mom drives a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The odometer has about 320k on the clock. For a brief window of time, Chrysler offered an unlimited (yes, unlimited) powertrain warrantee as an extra add on, and my mom bought it. FCA and later Stellantis had to honor it. It’s on its third engine. Yup.
Needless to say, those warrantees aren’t offered anymore. There must be some kind of BOLO out for them by Stellantis to recoup them, because every time my mom brings it in to the dealership for service - they offer her an insane amount of money in trade in for a new one. I took it in for an oil change last summer for her, they wanted to offer $8000, for a Jeep that might be worth $3500 private sale.
thatvhstapeguy@reddit
Probably the only longer lasting warranty was the JCPenney lifetime battery. They pawned those off on Firestone when Penney’s stopped selling hardlines.
SaltyBeefCubes@reddit
A grand Cherokee with 320k is worth $550 in scrap, it would never sell for more haha
She needs to ride that Jeep into the sunset! That’s honestly so cool of her.
GoCougs2020@reddit
Around here any vehicle that can drive 2 blocks is worth at least $1k.
Well….. a WK with 320k isn’t exactly sought-after. I think it’ll still sell for $1,200-$2,500. Depending on the condition and what engine.
3.6 v6 is probably less desirable, but with how much gas cost. Who knows? Maybe it’s cool again.
BetCommercial286@reddit
I pray she never sells it that’s amazing.
Both_Painter_9186@reddit
Yip. I keep trying to convince her to get something more reliable, even offered to help out buying it. She lives in a highly car dependent rural area, and she’s getting up there in age, so I don’t want her to break down somewhere. She’s committed to keeping this thing on life support til something really expensive and not covered goes.

I believe the AW4 was the strongest transmission option through the years too, though the AX15 isn't that far off.

I’m so jealous.
I dailyed a ‘96 to well over 250k until the body rust got to be too much to fix. Sold it to a guy who specialized in XJs because I didn’t have the time, money, or space to work on it and I’m pretty sure the parts are still in use today.
I’ve got a wk2 now but nothing will ever be as much fun as the ol girl was.

The main parts engine, trans, transfer case and axle housings are all original. The jeep was lifted about 15 years ago. At that point it got chromoly axle shafts, tom woods driveshafts, crossover steering, and springs

4.0 inline 6? You got the puego transmission or a Toyota t100? I’ve owned about 4 of those Cherokees I love them.. the right ones.. the 4.0 inline 6 is bulletproof.. the puego transmission tho… i replaced mine with the t100 if i had the chance n it was manual..
dcabe1210@reddit
Yea its got the 4.0. They stopped using the Peugeot transmission in 1990. Mine has the Aisin AX15. It's generally known as a strong transmission. Its getting a little clunky shifting though. I suspect worn synchros. I've also got a spare 4.0 sitting around I'm planning on building into a 4.6 stroker motor.

At 68k rn and well maintained by the prior owner, I believe that’s beginning to break it in for this car in particular. I plan to have it a lot longer. I just did all the regular maintenance oil, new tires, brakes and rotors + a ton of longevity maintenance on it: serp belt and tensioner, diff service, coolant flush, and transmission flush, smaller stuff like filters, some sea foam… hoping to have this car for a very long time. I've got a 2000 Ford Excursion, the trouble is I can't get anyone to work on it. Ford dealership turns me away, will not work on anything over 20 years old. Most other local shops will tell me it won't fit on their lifts. It's an Excursion, it's no different than a Ford F-250 but nobody will touch it now. So, really can't drive it anymore. That is the trouble with older cars. I would surmise you are having the same issue.

I did when I was young and broke, but this is a bad idea in general. 20 years is a lot of time for the technology to change that makes driving much, much safer. There's simply no comparison between how safe my current car is and how unsafe my old car was.

94 Corvette (110k miles), 94 Geo Tracker (150k miles), 93 convertible Geo Metro (180k miles) are my current old cars. All 3 are manual, all 3 pretty reliable (all have needed some work but haven't left me stranded).
Corvette has aftermarket intake, exhaust, suspension, brakes, radiator. Once the engine gets a little more tired I'm going to 383 stroke it. Tracker is going to have its suspension totally redone this year as the shocks and struts are pooped out. Metro is totally stock. Block has never been cracked open and it's still humming along with good compression and MPG.
I don't really have a daily driver, I also have a 2012 Outback and 2022 F-350 and they all get used on a seasonal and need basis.

Mines an early 07 Chevy Cobalt, almost to the 20 yr mark (next year), recently rebuilt/refreshed from the last owner’s neglect/non-maintenance so she’ll be good to run again for hopefully another 300K+ MI!) But I personally love that I own it, parts are pretty easy to find for most stuff (there’s a few scarce parts but I’ve gotten those already so they shouldn’t need done again for a long time especially since I will actually be maintaining the car correctly) and it’s right in the middle, when cars were still built somewhat decent and easy to work on and everything isn’t all clusterfvcked together in electronics so you need a $5K scan tool to do anything on it, I can do everything on my car (already have done almost everything including a recent engine and trans rebuild, but the body itself or the interior, just did a couple things like bulb replacements/gauge cluster change/steering wheel change) with mostly basic tools and up on my Daytona high lift jack/stands in a driveway/garage (even did the trans/engine rebuilds that way, no lift used, jacked car high up, put on stands, removed subframe and dropped trans from bottom, engine was rebuilt from top first when I did timing/water pump and head gasket and head rebuild, and then when trans was being rebuilt I redid rear main oil seal, flexplate, and new GM OEM oil pan and dipstick tube, checked compression for piston rings when doing head gasket and compression was fine from piston rings from testing after head rebuild/head gasket replacement, it was bad at the valves which was reason for head rebuild, and the crank/crank bearings were good when I pulled off the pan and got a look, nothing looked mangled/too worn so I sent it with everything else in it being new and it’s been running like a champ for over 20KMI since rebuild) there was a couple specialty tools for things like doing the transmission rebuild, engine head rebuild and for the rear axle trailing arm bushings, but 80% of stuff on this car is doable with just a basic 3/8 ratchet/socket set. And I’ve already done all the big/important stuff, so I should only have to worry about maintaining her from here on out 👌🏻

Funny really; ok I was writing a story on this but its easily stated. Older vehicles are relatively cheap to repair and when you repair them they will generally run a minimum of 1-3 years with stability. I don't care about what I drive other than it carries what I want to carry and gets me there reliably over and over. I drive generally between 250-500 miles weekly every week so thats a must.

I recruited my 2002 Sentra Spec V into a daily over the winter. It has about 34k now. Boosted, some other stuff. No issues except relating to the heat generated by the turbo. Want to stay ahead of the rust, it's still almost showroom. Got it 2017 with 24k on it.
My daily was a 2001 Suburban. Oil pressure dropped, actually need to look at it today. It has about 235k? Would have been good to keep but it's starting to rust (got it from AZ in 2017). Tried to get another same gen Suburban but couldn't get one (looked April-Aug 2025 in AZ). Settled on a 2011 Suburban, which is my new other daily.

I own a 2006 Acura MDX for my daily driver and it’s excellent aside from the fuel economy. I put a CarPlay stereo in it and a backup camera, can’t see myself needing anything else out of a daily driver. It’s got plenty of room to haul stuff and the AWD system is excellent in the snow. Currently sitting at 160k and has zero mechanical issues.
My fun car is a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT, almost 20 years old, currently at 115k miles. I’ve had this car for about 5 years and it’s been a blast. 6.0 V8, a stout 6 speed automatic, great aftermarket support, a very roomy interior and great driving dynamics. The Buick 3.8 and my LS3 are bulletproof same can't be said for modern GMs. I'm also not a fan of cuvs and how dumb big new trucks are. Cuvs are all bland and look the same. I have a 1986 Montero with 91,000 on it. It’s okay but I only get like 10 miles a gallon, 15 hwy. I keep it because it’s fun. I’ve had to replace some relays for the lights, windows, and washer fluid motor as they burn out. My wife’s got a “new” beetle that’s an 03. The plastic smells like crayons and I’m fixing something every week. Most recently the module that controls the power windows and doors needed to be…coerced into functioning again. Runs alright though.
That being said my daily driver is a 2026 and it’s for a reason. Having a car 20+ years old is only worth it if you have love for the game…. and a free Saturday. It shouldn’t be your commuter.

I still have a 2004 Chevy Aveo at 104,000 miles that runs but I hardly ever drive it, it's just sitting in case I need backup. It was supposed to be given to my teenager but I think it needs some work. The air conditioner doesn't work (I've gotten the freon recharged/filled and the very next day it's back to warm air), it needs some type of belt and brakes, and I read that around 100,000 miles it will need a new timing belt. I'm a single mom and don't have the money to invest in something so old so it's basically just sitting here in case my car breaks down, at least I'll have something for local driving while mine is in the shop.

2022 Mazda 3 manual is my daily, 131,000 miles on it. I do my own work. Only oil, front brakes, gear oil, air filters, and undercoatings (New England) I’ve done. Easy car to work on but I fear I’ll blow up the rear calipers when I do the brakes there lol.
Other car is. 1996 miata, also have done work on it myself. Biggest item was rear suspension rebuild with new shocks, bearings, and poly bushings. I need to do the front still, steering feels a little ‘wavy’ at speeds above 60mph. I also did the timing belt/water pump/new aluminum radiator and some engine seals. That was a fun experience!

The early 2001 e46 convertible (first registered in September 2000, when Clinton was still president) still gets picked for errand duty in nice weather. The aftermarket jvc radio broke (as has everything JVC I have ever had) but once I replace it, this car will be back to “first choice” for lots of stuff. 200,000 miles and counting.
The 2018 3-series is a plug-in hybrid, and it gets picked for some errands (14 miles of electric range) and for all long highway trips (35+ mpg, quiet, good nav and audio / infotainment.) But the car it replaced 2-1/2 years ago was a 1995 maxima that my dad bought new, and gave me in 2003. It was still running great at 303,000 miles when a tree fell on it. It actually ran and drove after that, but the tree was heavy enough that it damaged the struts and strut towers and control arms. This was a daily driver through 300,000 miles.
We have a 95 Miata that needs a top and alignment and tires. And a radio. Those Chinese single-DIN CarPlay touch screen ones look tempting, surely nobody would steal them. My only concern is that they might be even shittier than JVC and, like, drain the batteries or catch fire or something.
My newer motorcycle is from 2002, and my daily driver / forever bike is from 1989. The 89 needs an engine rebuild, it burns some oil and is weaker than I remember. But the brakes and suspension are brilliant, and I just put a Sargent seat on it last year and I have a thousand-mile weekend ride coming up soon that I’m looking forward to. Maybe this fall I’ll pull the engine.

I have a 2003 S10, 4x4 and 5 speed (pretty rare combo) with 326k on it, original engine/transmission/diffs/transfer case and AFAIK the original clutch (bought the truck in 2012 w/110k on it and have done nothing to the clutch as of yet). For years it was a combination daily driver and part time work truck (did junk hauling on the side before back problems convinced me it was time to get out of physical labor work routinely). It now lives a pretty easy life as a secondary vehicle that gets driven a good deal at least once a week so it doesn't sit undriven for too long (which can be detrimental) and it's occasionally used for light hauls (taking old, broken down furniture to the dump, hardware/home improvement store runs, etc.) here and there.
