Why is it so hard for our generation to send something back to the kitchen???

It's like one of those stupid leftover boomer fears, like paying property tax or 'going downtown' lol. I've had restaurant jobs and it's fine. Food is like anything else - if it's wrong it's wrong. No one wants you to eat crappy food. But be cool, let the server know you know it's not their fault, and say thanks. Don't piss off your pizza guy. He spends time alone with your food.

Where is our 'Now and Then'?

I tried “turned out fine” till I realized what I’d actually experienced as a kid. The swats just taught me how to lie and hide. It’s the attempted murder/suicide, impossible expectations with no idea what success looks like, bad abusive men and how selfish was I to make her do all that? Fucking boomers man. And she was put through it too so it’s not even all her fault. I don’t want to be that.

Pretty much. I don’t. Mine did that and a whole lot worse. We had a family friend who played cards with grownups on weekends. When his son did anything to bother him, he had a 300 bowling ring and I remember that because he turned it around before slapping his boy upside the head. It usually left an imprint. He outweighed his son by about 200lbs.

47 years old. Needed dress shoes. So naturally, I bought my first pair of Doc Martens’. 30+ years too late? Also, still Punk AF.

Why? So he'd disappoint us like everyone else? He gave us everything he had. We should be happy with what we got. Not disappointed, and I hope he's at peace.

It's weird seeing people I perceive as much older than me and finding out they're younger than me.

LOL same. My teen's friends asked if I'm gay because I don't dress like an adult (I think they mean "good dresser?"). Anyway, all I wear is normal jeans, band or record store t shirts and skate shoes. Oh, and a wallet with a chain. TBF, I dressed exactly the same as a teen lol. How did people in the 80s/90s look so old asf at my age?

Yea most flagship Jordan’s are not super comfortable, 3s are pretty ok. Believe it or not the J2/3 low hybrid is very nice. It’s basically a skate shoe with a puffy jumpman tongue. Throw some dunk laces in em and leave untied. Walk/skate happy.

Summer evening, windows down, mid/late 90s, what are you driving, what are you listening to, and who is in the car with you?

1. Jeep YJ that drove like it had square wheels. No top of course, because I did not own one. 2. Korn or Deftones or Bone Thugs n Harmony or Metallica before they got haircuts and became hypocrite bitches 3. My (now) wife, my (still) best friend, wife's best friend, 30 pack of Miller Lite (quit drinking), and a 13mm wrench in case the Jeep needed to be taken apart.

The rules haven't changed. Learn what you don't know, ignore shit you think is dumb that you can't change like ads (adblock works a little). Your phone is gonna serve you up things it thinks you like. You'll get over it. Listen to people who know more than you, like the young doctor. That old doctor of yours sounds old and set in their ways too. Boomers wanted to be told what they want to hear so bad, they overturned the fucking Chevron defense. Try not to get so mad. Time and tools change. People don't. Learn from the past. DON'T do fascism. DO be careful with massive change, like internet should have been and AI should be.

As many of us had the Atari for our first gaming system, do you think you asked for it or did your parents just buy it figuring you would enjoy it and let them have some quiet time?

This. Pop music in the 80s (and I like a lot of it) seemed more idyllic or at least sugarcoated. The 90s seemed like musicians started telling real stories again without the fluff. Perfect example: my first time seeing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was directly after "Blaze of Glory" by Bon Jovi. Also, my contribution is Gin Blossoms "Hey Jealousy."

She did it the hard way. I’ve heard she used to sleep at clubs when she didn’t have rent money. Wrote her own music and plays multiple instruments. Left home after high school and chased her dreams. Hard to beat that.

The dog isn’t wearing a collar. Should be but nothing can help that in the moment. They appear to be near traffic so the dog is the biggest chaos factor. Non issue. Dad should’ve leashed the dog, but he’s dealing with it appropriately. He’s also right about paws.

One of my best friends is a millennial. There's only a few years' difference and we are SO different in ways we approach things. It's like they know a card in the spokes makes noise, but they need a branded and bought card so it fits just right. Like...we improvise better or something.

I thought it was really cool when it I saw it as a kid. Then I grew up and realized the world doesn't revolve around me. A lot of people never got that message and that's a big reason we are where we are today, IMO.

What do you still do that's "analog"?

Girls are unimaginably cruel to other girls. My best friend now is the same one from 6th grade when we got in a fight over a girl. We kicked the shit out of each other and then probably played Goldeneye. At least we don't play the long game lol.
