The first time I ever heard this song was at the roller rink. 1988ish Mt Pleasant Tx. It was probably a birthday party we would have been 3rd or 4th grade and I remember specifically telling my best friend "Did you hear that song?" as we were leaving to get in his mom's car. I have a bit of a different take. lol I’m 48 now, but about 16 years ago I became involved in roller derby and as such spent a LOT of time at local rinks (obviously), for not only practices and bouts but also during public skate sessions.
Well, around that time groups/singers like Black Eyed Peas, K$sha, Lady Gaga, Flo-Rida, etc were huge and played all the time at the rinks and as such kinda became the popular music for derby at the time.
So yeah…when I see that pic, I hear something from the aforementioned list and immediately think of roller derby.
