Definition of a millennial

It's so annoying that I have to occasionally defend my identity as a millennial. Some people take the definition of starting at 1981 so literal. I was born in late September (Libra!) 1980 and graduated in 1999 with the majority of people born in 1981. It's such a stupid metric to use. I have older siblings who I never had anything in common with (they liked the Breakfast Club or Ferris Buller for example and I always thought they were dumb). Anyone else feel like this? Yes it's almost always Gen Z calling me Gen X. Gen Xers definitely have always called me a millennial (as well as boomers but who cares what they think lol)
