In partnership with NHS I never see (my GP), all my GP issues are noted, and I mention them at my 6 monthly neurology appointments, well I did, just do the chat now, stopped all bloods and MRI's while Palantir own our data.

I've never been too cold in my 38 years, I'm sure you can deal with Australian sun/heat better than me. Just our environmental passive nature buffs.

I was in the RLC for 11 years, If I respawned at 16 knowing how it plays out, I wouldn't do it again. Most interested to see if my disability was worsened by service, which I think it was. Fuck em.

I've been next to my brother when he falls asleep and speaks in German, he was born there (military dad), he was in England by 3/4, yet I hear him doing it from him from age 8-13ish. Then we had different rooms.

Is it common for people who are born in the UK to say they are “Irish” or “Italian” if they have a parent from there?

Posted by Charming_Usual6227@reddit | AskABrit | View on Reddit | 1408 comments

Real23Phil@reddit

I say my dad's side is Irish, but I never really knew them, my mums side is London. I'd never dirty the Irish history by adding myself to it. I'm English but will switch to British when talking to anyone outside our immediate isles, and specify if asked.

Are you feeling badly ill lately?

Posted by chuttiya1@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 70 comments

Real23Phil@reddit

Haven't been ill since 12/13yo, 38 now. I do have a disability which I would say has been worse than any illness I've experienced. I'm rarely around people so it's hard to catch anything. Only seen my mum (twice) in the last 2 weeks.

Do people in the UK wear football kits casually?

Posted by AffectionateYou1021@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 578 comments

Real23Phil@reddit

Kit I won't wear (shirt, shorts and socks), but I would wear a top on game days. I've distanced from the sport the last 3 years. Will watch my club, but that's it, used to watch any game.

I'm having a small living area built, I can't walk so won't need much, saw something I wanted the other day, may be a bit more than 250 I can't remember, but a portable (maybe not for me but a small) dishwasher. That or a dryer.

What to do instead of Uni or an apprenticeship?

Posted by New-Secretary5722@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 43 comments

Real23Phil@reddit

I stopped going school at 13, joined army at 16, MS was found at 26 after a lot of overlooked complaints, was told I couldn't serve, haven't heard or had help from them, at 36 I couldn't walk any more. Don't do what I did, learn something, Military should be a last choice, they'll use you up and discard you like they did me.

Why don't UK supermarkets put two members of staff on the self service checkouts ?

Posted by Fantastic-Rough-2472@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 317 comments

Real23Phil@reddit

Because it's self-service checkouts, aka serve yourself. More staff means more wages which means less profit for the store, surely you've been about long enough to know the importance of money. I have 3 big Tesco's near me, only 1 of them is mostly seen with 1 staff at self-service. Then there's the Tesco Extra that I've only ever seen with 1.

Does mixing up “your” and “you’re” give you the ick?

Real23Phil@reddit

Ick no, but I will judge, same with people who fill their post with errors in spelling or grammar.  I stopped going to school at 13, I'm supposed to be the idiot, atleast that's what I told myself at 14 'you will be the moat uneducated in most rooms'. Didn't turn out that way.
