How many cups of tea do you have in a day?

M30 here, I have always been a lover of a good cuppa but recently I seem to have been enjoying more and more cups of tea per day. I am currently on my fourth of the morning Perhaps i'm going through the change....
I was wondering, how many cuppas do you have in a day?

BlueHeisen@reddit
Decaf tea exists
GiveUsATBob@reddit
Iāve switched to Sainsburyās decaf. Really good. I have loads less headaches and get much less narky if Iām out and canāt get a tea
Apprehensive_Ring666@reddit
Narky?
GiveUsATBob@reddit
Yeah, you know narky? Like being narked off with someone
Apprehensive_Ring666@reddit
Nah never heard it from Leeds here ? What does it mean
GiveUsATBob@reddit
Narky would be, being short / irritable with people
Narked off, is like one down from pissed off. Not as strong as pissed off, but one up from cheesed off.
Definitely north and south.
Itās a very very old phrase to be fair!
Apprehensive_Ring666@reddit
Hahaha cheesed off, I actually can imagine a good Etsy mug with
Pissed off - Narked Off - Cheesed Off - Not too bad - Fancy another?

Thatās like 1 hour of your day making brews. wtf. 365 hours a year brewing brews.
BasisOk4268@reddit
How slow is your kettle
Electronic-Sound331@reddit
Itās not boiling the water that takes all that time, itās letting the tea brew as well!
BasisOk4268@reddit
I boil my kettle remotely and then flick a teabag in. Iām done within 3 minutes easy

If you've recently been drinking more and more, and already had 4 when you posted this, then I'm wondering if this is an early symptom of diabetes or some other medical condition. I do hope not, but if you're worried you should get it checked out.
PhdLevelWeeb@reddit (OP)
Oh no I think it may be because I am working from home a lot at the moment and a cup of tea is very reachable. I did have a look at the symnptoms and I match none of them for early signs!
Prestigious-Garbage5@reddit
Glad to hear it. š
Cally83@reddit
4 on average each day

Too many- Iām basically never without a cup of tea from 6:30am to 10pm lol
Tired? Cup of tea. Bored? Cup of tea. Got a meeting? Letās get a brew before it starts. Home from work, feet up, mug in hand.Evening wind down? Tea.

About 6. My manager in work drinks 14 cups a day!
flyingfoxtrot_@reddit
Zero. The last cup of tea I had was ten years ago and that was only because someone else made it for me and I didn't want to be rude.
I hate tea. I'll pack my bags š
Stefgrep66@reddit
I only drink chai tea, and out of a thermal cup which is pretty large.
About 3 of those a day.
Qabbalah@reddit
0.5 on average. I might have one after lunch on some days but not every day. Probably averages out as a cuppa every other day.

For a typical working from home day:
2-4 coffees up until about 1pm-ish
2-4 teas in the afternoon, occasionally 1 in the evening.
If I'm out and about, all bets are off. I'll generally take a coffee in my travel cup, then get whatever when I fancy it.
Even-Way9768@reddit
Are all these caffeinated or do you switch to decaf at some point?
adreddit298@reddit
All caffeinated. You're making the same point my wife does. But it's not really about the caffeine content so much as I find tea more relaxing than coffee. I'll often get in from a busy day and have a cup of tea. I never get in from a busy day and want a cup of coffee.
Even-Way9768@reddit
Just curious really, I'm the same in that I find tea more relaxing and used to have caffeinated tea in the evenings but now I've switched completely to decaf. Some people just seem to be more sensitive to caffeine than others
adreddit298@reddit
Ah, fair enough, it must have just triggered me š.
I have considered it, but decaf just tastes like gash in general, so decided to stick with the good stuff

I think it increases exponentially with age - the odd cuppa a week as a kid and teen, one or two a day in your twenties, double digits by mid-life, finally hitting the enlightenment state of perma-tea around the three-score mark š«
kavik2022@reddit
This. It sounds awful. But, i normally have a 2 bags in my cup. Boil the kettle and keep topping up my cup with bags. Sometimes just using lukewarm water. For a quick cup

I'm on brew number three at 1230. First at the hotel I woke up in, then at brunch and now I've got home just chilling.
During the week I'll have one driving to work in my 500ml cup, then another at work, then one at 11, then I switch to squash in the afternoon then a tea on the drive home, then one when I get home and at least two decaf ones in the evening. So 7-10

Usually 1-2 pots a day, each yielding 4 cups. So yeah either 4 or 8 cups.

On a workday it's 5 or 6 (I have a coffee first thing if I've not slept well). Weekends it depends what I'm doing. If we're out and about it could be as little as 3, if I'm doing stuff around the house it can go as high as 10.

Thatās during the week in the colder month. In the summer itās less hot beverage and more water.
At weekends I drink less tea and more water.

Me? 2 or 3 at most. My bf will do at least 18-20 every day. Itās pretty much all he drinks.

I spent much of my adult life mainlining tea - at least one per hour throughout the whole day.Ā
It's only in my mid forties when I started to wonder why I spend the whole time feeling stressed, anxious and jittery, that I started to examine my life choices.Ā
Now I only drink caffeinated stuff before 10/11 am and switch to decaf for the rest of the day, and I feel better for it.Ā
alurlol@reddit
2-3 coffees and a tea if I'm working. People drinking 5+ must have crazy high caffeine intake.

No-Problem-1354@reddit
I have one maybe every three months or so. I have two hot chocolateās a week (one each day Iām in the office) but the only reason I do that is because the canteen doesnāt sell bottled water so Iām left in a situation of buying a hot chocolate or a tiny can of water for Ā£2. The canned water is just not worth the money for such a small amount. So I go for the hot Chocolate but I would much prefer a situation where I could just buy a bottle of water as itās much healthier.
Tall_Stick5608@reddit
3 - 6, but they are large mugs. I much prefer a kettle and bone china cups but I canāt be bothered most days

Four. Pre/post breakfast (which is NEVER cereal), lunch, evening.

I occasionally have a herbal tea if I can't sleep or just for something different but I think regular tea tastes kinda rankĀ
Prior-Syrup3406@reddit
Really changed over time depending on where I worked. When I was at University writing my dissertation I got up to 22 cups a day. In a previous job there were loads of tea drinkers so 5-7 cups a day was normal. Nowadays in my 40's where I mostly work from home and can't drink cows milk anymore, I'm on 1 cup of decaf after dinner. Go with the flow, although I wouldn't recommend 22 cups a day, that was a bit crazy.
EnjoysAGoodRead@reddit
One. Just one. And I savour it. When I'm ill it becomes more like 9 or 10, but they are usually mint tea, ginger and lemon tea, and a couple of extra normal cups of tea for the mood.
