I loooooved this movie when I was a kid. I remember my mom took me to see it and afterwards she bought me leg warmers at the mall. I still adore the Dancin’ mash up scene with the Tubes. So good!

Gen Z is Not Drinking, But Are You?

I am almost 7 months alcohol free. I was on the slippery slope of drinking every day and I was not happy at the thought of where it might lead. Feeling pretty great these days. I miss it sometimes but the sleep alone is so worth it.

It all makes sense now.

I was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD a few months ago at 52. I always suspected as much and I guess menopause really just made it unmanageable. I am taking Adderall now and it has made a huge difference for me.

I loved Sassy (and Jane) and saved every issue. I think I threw them out when I moved out of my childhood home. 😭 If anyone’s interested, there’s a great podcast called Listen to Sassy where they recap each issue. Brought to you by one of the creators of the hilarious Television Without Pity.

I really enjoy solo time, walking my dogs while listening to audiobooks, tending to my horde of indoor plants, taking photos of things I find interesting, crossword puzzles, and stay-at-home weekends cooking and watching shows with my family.

I was obsessed with her in the 80s. The Like a Virgin tour was my first concert. The Beastie Boys opened! I think True Blue was the last record I bought. I liked some of her songs here and there after that but none as much as her first two albums.

Anyone else have children later in life? We followed the advice to get through college, get our careers started, buy a house, THEN start a family. I’m exhausted.

Had my one and only at 40. 52 now and she’s 12. Things have calmed down a lot now that she’s pretty self-sufficient. The early days were EXHAUSTING. Glad I went through with it though. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

Were you able to buy a house?

Last_Inevitable8311@reddit

We did. In 2011 at the bottom of the market. I was terrified. My husband said we should go for it. Were able to put down 20% with savings, a gift from my in-laws, and a loan against my 401k. The value has a little more than doubled since and our mortgage is less than most people pay around here in rent. It was a very good gamble!

He’s a Playboy Bunny from the Playboy Club. My parents were members and we used to go eat dinner there from time to time. I named him Nick, after the bartender who would make me Shirley Temples with extra cherries. He looks like this except he lost his flag, his crotch split at the seam, one of his ears has been stitched back onand his sweater shrunk when my mom put him in the washing machine. https://preview.redd.it/8ocguxfnxrug1.jpeg?width=585&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=421af8c3ff6f7144f256200c5f56f78b61e2642d

Was just coming here to say the same. Was also recently recommended Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “Maybe In Another Life” that has concurrent plots based on the different outcomes of a choice. Kind of like the move Sliding Doors, which I loved.

I have become hooked on my local Buy Nothing group. One man’s trash, as the saying goes. I have cleared so much stuff through this group. Feels better than just throwing it all away. As for books, I recently put up a Little Free Library so that kind of stuff gets cycled through there. Kids artwork…that’s a tough one! It’s hard to part with but I try to whittle down, only keeping the things that really speak to my soul.
