What did you do for recess when the weather was bad?

I can't remember any rainy day events. Maybe we went to the auditorium or lunch room. I have no idea.
For those of you who remember 1970s or 80s recess, what did you do if the weather didn't permit?

Coloring / reading, in the class, drinking warm drinks provided by the cafeteria and being allowed a nap at your desk with the lights off in the room!

Heads up seven up but it had to be -20 to cancel outside recess.

We stayed in our classroom and played Heads Up Seven Up and Duck Duck Goose (we called it White Duck Yellow Duck though.)

You are a winking me!

We had to go to the gym and play dodgeball. I hated indoor recess.

That sounds great to me

We had a "covered area" where they stuck us if it wasn't too cold, otherwise classroom where when I was in third grade (1971/72) our teacher would play her Supremes 45s

Ate lunch in the classroom then played heads up 7up.

We stayed in the classroom and kids way cooler than I could even conceive of played the 45 RPM records they brought with them. I remember Blue Ouster Cult and being very confused by the name.

That's some sketchy stuff!

They'd stick us in the 'large' cafeteria/multi-purpose room. Then pandemonium would ensue. Food being tossed randomly - mostly unseen by the yard duties. People being tripped. Toilets overflowing. Nickels and pennies being tossed at the weirdos. The many things were "found" in the lost and found by people that didn't own the item - best one yet is when some boy found a pink polka dot jacket that belonged to the girl no one liked (ergo why it was the lost and found). He wore it all during the lunch recess why she tried to reacquire her property. The boy swore up and down to the yard duty it was his jacket, until the name on the back was exposed. We won't talk about the time someone tossed a Hostess cherry pie - talk about bad taste AND wasting a wonderful dessert....

Yeah, it's coming back to me now. I remember at least one multipurpose room and teachers who would barely look up from reading a novel.

I grew up in SoCal. I don’t understand the question

What about the wind and fires?! lol. I mean watch the news... it's a death wind of enormous proportions!! (cue the So. Cal. weather presenter with a long spiel about how winds form in the mountains and stuff)
I love San Diego, and wouldn't you know, my oldest girl just married a guy from there. His whole family lives there, and his aunt works at the San Diego Zoo and is internationally famous. Meanwhile, I live where there's four seasons.

Indoor recess. Usually in the gym. Sometimes games in the classroom.
