Were people as Anti-internet during the dot come era as they are Anti-AI now?

I used email in the late 90's to communicate with head office (I worked in a warehouse/factory), I seriously thought it was some kind of inter-office system, I had no idea I could email Japan. In the early 2000's I changed careers and started working in music entertainment as a manager/promoter/a&r person and had to buy a laptop and do a crash course in office/research/banking the whole shebang, in a few weeks. I had no idea the potential of the internet and have watched it grow since then into reddit shitposting.

Just recorded a punk rock record at 60. Hurt my foot running in November 2024 and haven't been able to run since, but I took up swimming and do 2 miles three times a week. I miss my kids, they live in a city not too far away where their mother moved them after we divorced. I regret letting her move them but I was naive and didn't know I could have legally stopped her. Biggest mistake of my life (not the divorce tho, best thing ever, she was mean and still is lol).

I swim and run and do a bit of strength training for each, three times a week. It might not make me live longer but I feel better both physically and mentally, and I look better. People think I'm in my 40s but I just turned 60.

It's been a long dark journey, but at this stage in my life so may things, my kids, playing and writing music in my bands, working out, swimming and running, a nice dinner while streaming a good series or movie, fucking summer, bring it on!

Since it's Star Wars day, did you see the original 1977 Star Wars in the movie theater?

My mom took us, it was a big deal and a great night. My brother and I spent the following months making battle cruisers out of styrofoam, masking tape and plastic model parts for our teddy bears.

Same. My dad asked me the same thing when I was 19. I was not ready for adulthood and ended up marrying the wrong person just to be out of the house.

To be honest, I wasn’t either, I didn’t read it until a couple years later in college when a friend suggested it, I had been too intimidated tackle it before then.

I’ll tell you why. It was banned in my school system, but I had an English teacher who wanted to teach us thick headed dummies something. On one of the first days of high school, he pulled it out of the bottom drawer of his desk and said, this book is banned by the school system, do not read this book, and then he put it away and started talking about Shakespeare. It was the first real book I ever read, and I discovered I loved reading and could actually do it.

I bought the Violent Femmes record based solely on the name and album cover. I was pleasantly surprised when I played it, and even more impressed that it stayed relevant all these years.
