Objects speeding toward you don’t look like they’re moving at all. They just increase in size and even that isn’t all that noticeable until they arrive. People get hit by trains because they look slow and far away.

Flew out out of Santiago once and we were getting illuminated by four lasers from different locations. One of them was very powerful.

There was an experimental rocket helicopter called Roton that used hydrogen peroxide thrusters at the rotor tips for power. Due to the centripetal force they got crazy high propellant pressure for free.

It was dark, raining, and the plane was small and very fast. Easy to lose it in the reflections. They requested and received a tower clearance to cross the runway. Even then they kept looking, saw it, and tried to swerve out of the way.
