How can I impress a British guy?

The wink emoji was meant to help convey the joking/teasing nature of my comment that could not be carried by tone or body language. Was not meant as an insult. Although there are some cities where the driving is perhaps a little less refined than your one. I like the style 😎

Oh, that's not what I was expecting - you guys drive on whichever side of the road suits 😂 😉 Even more kudos for the parallel parking 😎

That indeed is a rare talent. Although there's a rich vein of cynicism in most Brits, so usually evidence is required before being believed..... I find myself intrigued by which particular country you are coming from, as you seem to be being a little elusive.

What do British people not like about Germans?

That's only one aspect of the cuisine, there's so much more to it than that. Schnitzel is absolutely wonderful fresh from a takeaway van. There's endless cooked/preserved meats, many varied cheeses, fresh veg (especially asparagus when in season) that can be bought at the roadside in any small town. Restaurants that do local meat (eg wild boar) local foods all cooked into hearty and fresh/clean tasting meals. Plus a huge variety of wines, beers and different soft drinks (Mezzo mix I am looking at you) to wash it all down with.

I thought by 1944 the Allies had given up trying to assassinate Hitler because he was more helpful to the allies alive. His constant meddling and overruling his generals caused many setbacks in battles and also armaments production.

TB patients having a long hospital recovery before antibiotics were available. Some/much comedy and a little love interest tempered with loss. It's well scripted.

Do you know know why large parts of the M25 road surface is made up of slabs of concrete rather than a smooth road surface?

Posted by WastelandOfConfusion@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 92 comments

Worldly_Let6134@reddit

It was built quickly and cheaply. There could have been much larger slabs done by pouring concrete in a specific way. The current setup was cheaper and used the smaller slabs as a sort of bodge. It won't change (at least not yet) because of the sheer cost to remedy and the untold chaos of disruption that shutting the m25 for weeks at a time would cause.

What do I do if my neighbour is harassing me about parking?

Posted by Burnatheburner@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 453 comments

If someone is having a delivery that requires a very large vehicle, then they need to contact the council to arrange a parking suspension order. They shouldn't be entitled enough to expect the world to just bend to their will.

Oil price drop, how long till petrol drops?

Worldly_Let6134@reddit

That would be fine if the inverse was also true. However, the moment there's an oil price rise, the price at the pumps shoots up - despite the fact that as you say, the company has loads of oil they had bought at the lower price......

The Jaguar XF10 (often referred to as the Fuore-Jaguar XF10) is a mid-engine two-seater supercar concept. It was not a production vehicle but a design study unveiled at the 2003 Barcelona Motor Show by the Spanish design house Fuore Design, led by Erwin Himmel.

Is it true that for a period of two weeks in the 1970s. Speeding on motorways was legal?

Posted by HerrFerret@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 86 comments

Worldly_Let6134@reddit

It wasn't just motorways, it was any road where the derestricted sign was shown - the same white circle and diagonal black line which now indicates National Speed Limit applies. The limits were brought in around 1965 as a knee jerk reaction to public outcry whipped up by the tabloid press at the time (nice to know their M. O. hasn't changed any.....) in regards to the AC Cobra being tested ahead of Le Mans. On the Isle of Man, the sign still means derestricted as they never applied any limits as they are under a different political entity. So yes, you can have a Lamborghini overtake a police car at 110mph+ on a country road and they don't bat an eye.

Three vehicles abandoned outside my house! 1 car and 2 big vans. On a street which is very hard to park on anyway, they have been there 3 months. 2 of them have no MOT or Tax. DVLA and police haven't done anything. What things can I do, which are not illegal and which might sort it/cheer me up?

2kg of bird seed and around 1kg of blueberries, blackcurrants or blackberries per vehicle. Sprinkled all over the top, windscreen, bonnet and boot. Do this about 1 day in 3 for 2 or 3 weeks and they'll be buried under so much vile guano that the council will remove them as a health hazard. Or the owner will have a lot of cleaning to catch up with.

Jimmy the fuel flap open, leave a rag down the filler. Then call the police and state you saw some kids/teenagers/scroats messing about with the cars. If the police don't act, then try your local fire station - they might even take them for chopping practice.
