I never said that Chinese cars aren't good? So idk why you lumped me in. What I did say was that it felt like some sort of an artificial thing online. Like the tariffs were being discussed and then at the same time all the media hype around Chinese cars came at the same time. It felt inorganic and I'd you know anything about the current state of internet, you know for a damn fact nothing is truly "viral" anymore. It's all just fabricated. So again. I have nothing negative against Chinese cars. But there is still something inorganic about how all the similar articles that pop up around the same time.

The dealers are ass too. We took our former car to the dealer because something wasn't working and we were under warranty. The dealer wanted $350 upfront to diagnose and said if it is indeed a warranty issue they will fix and refund. Fuck that! Even BMW doesn't charge me upfront for diagnostic on possible warranty issues. They just tell me that if it something caused by me then I would owe them a diagnostic fee. But after the fact.

Yeah man. The cost cutting has gotten ridiculous, especially since they're asking those stupid prices. Wife and I looked at the Q5 a few years back because she really like the way it looked over the X3, but that inside was so plasticky.

Could've fooled me. I have barely seen these cars on the roads. I think I saw 4 last year. None so far this year. And I live in the type of area where people like these types of cars.  So they might be selling, but let's not act like those are huge numbers.

One thing you're not including in your cost is that local is stable. I have my machine already and I can run local models on it. I don't need to pay anything more. With cloud models, there is nothing don't them from raising prices whenever they see fit.  But mostly in on it for the privacy. I'm tired of every company building a profile on me. I'm actively trying to limit it.

Nice. I can do most basic and some advanced maintenance. The main issue I run into is lifting/space. That's when I gotta take it to a trusty Indy or dealer.  Another poster said to avoid the 4.3 and go for 4.7. The timing chain issues. I'm not in the market yet but I'll definitely remember that.

That doesn't answer much? Some cars I can do the water pump on my own. Others, like Cayenne, I need to pull apart the whole front and remove turbos to get to it. So not exactly "any other car".

It's a catch 22. Part of the reason we're so used to going to the dealer and buying shit from the lot is because we don't really get to customize unless you're buying premium German. We bought my wife's SUV. Could have had any on the lot that were Black, White, or Gray. But my wife wanted the blue. So we had to wait a month and a half for that. And nothing else we could customize.

I get that. But the issue also is that cars have gotten very expensive compared to how much most people earn. And I'm not being US centric. Look around the world.  And their spending loads of $$$ on a car brand vs "lesser" cars were always a lesson in diminishing returns. The issue now is that the gap to acquire the branded (Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, etc.) Has gotten much much bigger. Just look at Porsche, who are in my eyes the poster child with everything that's wrong. I made the post in slight jest. Because we're broke is much easier to say than the ultra rich have fucked everyone and the wealth gap has widened significantly over the past 20-30 years. Today, people can barely afford a home to live in.
