Jason Cammisa is really one of the only people I can stomach watching. He manages to really pull from his journalism background and be entertaining in a way I’ve really only ever seen Jeremy Clarkson do. 1000x more legit than blowhard YouTubers.

Yeah all the 911 stuff just comes off as rich people posturing because let’s be real here, almost every single generation of 911 is priced way out of reach for all but the highest earners. Your average middle class person could only really afford a crappy early 996 tiptronic in a dull silver over gray scheme, and at that point why even bother. Now the Caymans on the other hand, those are still very accessible to many.

Caymans are discontinued after the current model year to be replaced with the electric 718, whenever that happens, and the gassers will all be high end GT models Just to give you an idea of how unappealing Porsche pricing is, even if you're interested in a new base 718 it's currently starting at a higher MSRP than a C8 with the Z51 performance pack (at least here in Canada) 102k CAD vs 101k CAD. I had a Cayman GTS 4.0 on order (not even the GT4) and after multiple years of delays and 5 figure price hikes, I requested my money back because a non-top tier Cayman was fast approaching C8 Z06 money

I stuck with the GTS 4.0 because I abhor the C8 styling...not that I think the Cayman is some timeless beauty, but I honestly would rather spend more money for "less" if it meant I could enjoy looking back at my car.

Fair point, but I was thinking in terms of used car pricing, since even the new Caymans are quite expensive. Whereas you can buy an early Cayman S for like $20k or less which puts it within reach of many people.

I was wondering when he was going to get to the part where he admitted he hates the 930. I'm glad that he brought up why. (Though flooring at in 4th gear at <1900 RPM would've been rough on even a naturally aspirated 1975 sportscar, even if it illustrated the lag quite dramatically.) Seemed like a bit of a strange choice to include the GT2s in this video. I wonder what led to that. (I thought it was also amusing that the 996 GT2 wasn't mentioned at all but is visible in the background when they were interviewing the photographer, Jeff Zwart.) I would have loved a completely unfiltered review of each generation by Cammisa and Catchpole. That'd be amazing to see.

I figured they'd have a sort of companion episode of the podcast to go with this. I'm super behind on the show (I just finished the episode from April on hatchbacks and the Jeep Cherokee), but I'm tempted to skip ahead to this one while the Hagerty special is fresh in my mind. That said, yeah, I'm not expecting them to have much in the way of praise for any of them. Though I don't know if they've driven every generation of 911 Turbo and GT2 to comment on them specifically. Surely they could at least crown a least-bad one!

I feel like the GT2s were connection to the racing history of the GT1 and the original Turbo's homologation status with 934 and then the 935 and finally GT1 (and how that ties back down to 996)
