Do you think in future we will be working for lot longer than retiring?

OkTechnician4610@reddit

It’s going to get worse. With less people working there will be no pensions for them at least not much. Pension deductions getting higher for employees & employers that’s going to cause issues. People will be working till they drop. Businesses going bust or loosing money go straight for the pensions I believe that should be illegal. No one’s pension should be open to be used to bail a company out. Should be safe.

How possible is it to actually become a digital nomad?

It’s a digital dream & probably fake social media clap trap. If u have plenty of money you might be able to do it for a while. Sounds attractive but probably very very hard.

We saw a house a while ago. Very b& q matching decoration apart from son’s room. It was dark purple with a massive poster of Jesus with a huge cone split. & I mean massive poster about 6ft x 6ft above the bed. The parents seemed very strait laced & apologised for the room decor. It was very amusing. We didn’t buy it as it had stream at bottom of garden & I knew that area flooded.

How long do you give the "cake Shed" phase before we are left with thousands of unused pink sheds all over the UK?

Posted by Royal-Reporter6664@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 329 comments

OkTechnician4610@reddit

Some councils have started charging extra council tax - saying it’s a business even if selling a few cakes & a bit of honey. Some people I believe do exploit it & have it as a business. So not pay for extra taxes or deal with food safety . Once a few councils do it others will follow. I buy honey & eggs from a local person who has honesty box.

It’s going to slow down some councils are charging extra council tax as they are viewed as a business. Even if you just sell a bit of honey or cakes a few times a week. Some people are exploiting it by running a business. If it is a real business they need to have h&s & food safety to consider. I get honey from local person & eggs.

So very true. Most wealth is held by a small number of people. Think of comments to news the other day from the ceo of next moaning about costs of employment for starter jobs & minimum wage. When’s he’s getting 7m.

Are you wearing sunscreen in all the recent heat?

Tbh I avoid going out for more than a few minutes when sun is at is strongest. I have very pale skin & will be the colour of a tomato in a very short time. I always have sunscreen with me in the summer if I need to go out. High factor. I’ve been burnt before & remember how painful it was.

How much did you pay for your house?

Posted by ChoreomaniacCat@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 253 comments

OkTechnician4610@reddit

Nothing wrong with accepting asking price if it’s fair mine was 114k & we offered what the asking price was as it was a fair price. I sold my mums house a few years ago & person who bought it offered the asking price much easier & quicker for us. It’s not your families business it’s your money. Enjoy the house & make it into your own home.

In all honesty, do you view weight loss drugs (Mounjaro, Wegovy etc.) and the people who use them negatively?

Posted by XStaticImmaculate@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 1058 comments

OkTechnician4610@reddit

Agree they do work until you stop taking them. There have been several cases in the news about people spending masses of money on them then stop & pile the weight back on. It’s a sure fire profit maker for the big companies who make the stuff. Get people to take them for ever. I was offered but chose to not take up that option. They r good for some people but not for all. Reduce illnesses with less weight etc. thats true. they have not been in use long enough to tell if they have any adverse effects. Personally i wouldn’t touch it.

It’s hard to start out on your own with no clients. Can I suggest you take the McDonald’s job & save as much as you can. Starting a business takes funds. Do some extra learning online - there is plenty of free learning. Get an understanding of tax & finances. If you don’t have that ready. Don’t know if you have your own equipment if not the money from mcd will help. You also will need insurance that’s very important. You will have probably a lot of competition for your line if work do you may not be able to do it straight away. Learn other complimentary things maybe nails & makeup, facials etc. then you can offer extra services.

Why are so many young people out of work?

Posted by ikeafannypack@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 966 comments

OkTechnician4610@reddit

Less jobs especially for young people with little or no experience. Auto tills, ai online stuff. My son worked at McDonald’s when he was 17 he hated it but stuck it for experience. No offence but I do think younger generations are maybe too needy or expect too much - my son included, slightest stress & he was off moaning about it or saying he would quit he’s 23 now & just as bad even with a well paying better job. But overall there are less jobs. Red tape got employers also has impact. I want to employ a weekend person for a few hrs to wash my cars that have for sale. With opportunity to learn car related work. It’s so expensive have to jump through hoops to be able to get a part time person onto my books. Years ago it would be someone would pop round do a big of work & get a few quid in cash. Doesn’t work that way anymore. Plus businesses want to make more & more money. I do worry about how my boys going to get on & the next few generations it’s only going to get worse.

My mom always did. I do sometimes but it’s something I cut back on as they are not cheap. I have flowers in my garden in summer so bring some of them in. A bunch of sorry looking flowers for a 10er is not something I have available to waste.

Do you have any tips for my interview please?

OkTechnician4610@reddit

Be honest if you don’t know the answer to a question say you are not sure of the correct answer or terms but you are keen to learn. If you can’t think of anything to ask them just say the information they supplied you answered all your questions. Before you go look up information on that company so if they ask anything related to that you can answer & refer back to some info you may have gained - looks like you actually bothered then. Dry your hands b4 you go in just in case they go to shake hands sweaty palms yucky. 🤮 Overall don’t lie & also try to be yourself - good luck

Yes my mum went private for eye lense replacement she had one done on nhs & whilst it was ok she had to wait ages for an appt & location was not the nicest or cleanest. Private was a date she wanted nice location supplied with hot drink & biscuits on arrival. Treated with more respect & care.
