I had a weather forced break of 8 days early in my training. When I came back for the first lesson after the break things started to click sooner. I agree a brief break can clear the cache in your head. It did for me and I didn’t plan it or know that I was hitting a wall

You feel you are ready? This post says no. If you don’t have the confidence you can get yourself in a dangerous situation pretty quickly. If you are confident but just complaining you don’t like your landings that’s different.

Did it on my checkride. Just did a touch and go on 32. Started my crosswind turn and he pulled the throttle and said “get us down”. I landed on runway 7 with no problem. Had to add flaps early. I had enough room

If he is in the US look him up on the airmen’s registry. Unfortunately people can know quite a lot about flying if they are into flying. A MSFS pilot with no experience can answer a lot of questions to sound real. Why did he “use to be a pilot?”

Feeling behind in flight training… haven’t even started landings yet

Posted by I-am_just-curious@reddit | flying | View on Reddit | 30 comments

HighVelocitySloth@reddit

Don’t compare to other pilots. Some it clicks faster. If you can’t handle the basics you aren’t ready to do landings. You need to be proficient enough in basic handling before you move on. Master 1 thing at a time instead of everything at once. Have patience. When things start to click your confidence will be high. Listen to what your instructor is saying. He or she is sitting with you seeing what you are doing. Nobody here can.

Yeah that’s ridiculous. I am interested as to how this plays out. The OP needs to make decisions that protect him more than the student. This isn’t a student adding an extra .1 to his flights.

Foreflight

Which is why I said “most likely”. In my case during the oral mine asked “after you pass today will you be using paper of foreflight?” I answered foreflight. He said “ get out the iPad” and we went over symbols on the charts. I have heard of others being told to use paper. I trained with both

Just follow the checklist item per item. You are a student. Creating bad habits this early is a bad sign I now use an electronic checklist. If I get distracted or interrupted I know where I left off. Prior to that I would have to start from the top (on whichever checklist I was on) to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
