Noticed this plane on the ramp yesterday. Any idea what could have caused this? There does not appear to be anything in the area that matches the for lack of better words, dent signature? Obviously a really bad day for the pilot and plane.

Seen this happen to a Warrior. Pilot (a student on their initial solo) took the plane off the runway while landing and smoked a runway edge light, then another as he brought it back onto the runway.

The wing hit something vertical with a good amount of force in two places. It is unlikely that it hit something like that square on so that it ended up with two similar dents that are both equally deep, it is also unlikely it hit some object, like a post, twice in a row. The dents are about the width of a truck or car, and there are some trucks (or tugs) with bumpers or brushguards that might create such damage. For those reasons I am going to guess that someone drove into it.

My guess is he ran into the back of a pickup truck that had the tailgate down. The spacing and narrow, vertical orientation of the impactors (I've been waiting years to use that word) suggest it. But it also looks like he was going pretty fast, so....??
Surely the rumor mill is already running there. I predict you'll hear pretty soon. Keep us updated.

Hit something upright
jerrygergich56@reddit
My guess is double bird strike
Infamous_Ad_9115@reddit
Maybe but you normally see blood and feathers
jerrygergich56@reddit
Yeah true. Didn’t look that closely

I have seen similar damage after someone taxied into a gantry ladder in the wash bay. Looks really expensive.
Infamous_Ad_9115@reddit
Kinda looks like someone hit posts surrounding the fuel pumps. But hard to know
Inner-Environment154@reddit (OP)
Fuel posts showed no obvious damage. Impact points on the leading edge \~1/2 the spacing of the bollards surrounding the fuel island.
theboomvang@reddit
Is that N89LF by chance?
Inner-Environment154@reddit (OP)
No

Cirrus pilots gonna Cirrus pilot!

Someone was probably fucking with their Meta rayban recoding glasses and probably crashed into the the airplane.
Ok-Money2811@reddit
Or the pilot was and taxied into a couple of poles…
Eaglepursuit@reddit
Probably else something ran into them.

This is a copy of the original post body for posterity:
