People are people. You’ll get knob head neighbours or you’ll get good neighbours, no one is worse or better than another in terms of ethnicity.

Right? Like my village has a co op, hairdressers and a petrol station. There’s so many more business that could setup and make a decent trade - farm shop for one considering how many are around us. Go to the town 10 minutes away and theirs 3 barber shops on the same street with 4 vape shops lol

It’s the nature of expansion. There’s only so many houses that can be built and villages are the places with empty fields being sold for 50+ houses

Yeah I can understand someone not liking a heavy thrash metal drum solo but someone doing basic beats and just jamming is really quite something, supposed to be a very difficult instrument to learn

Honestly drums played well still sound really good lol there’s someone with a house where I walk my dog and someone there plays the drums and it’s good, I don’t think we should discourage people from playing instruments so long as it doesn’t sound like a bag of cats

I would argue though that’s only a recent thing due to climate change. I don’t remember summers growing up anywhere near what we get now in terms of humidity

500 a month is the cheapest rate for a room in a decent house, if you check out spareroom you’ll be able find some for a similar price and have your own freedom.

People in the UK who are over 30, single and childless, do you feel like time is running out for you to have kids, or you would be content to never have them?

31 never had a real relationship as I’ve always been caring for a family member and for some reason unlike most folk as I got older the desire to be in a relationship kind of fizzled. Would love to have kids but doubt it’s ever going to happen now.

I know right the 2 shops and hairdressers that already existed must have been inundated and and we need a Turkish barbers where 3 people just sit on a chair outside all day. 3000 for a village is small. The local primary school closed one part of the building because of the lack of children there 👍

Can you get a deterrent to put up outside your house ? Like one of those beeping things I think maybe for cats ? Also a motion activated sprinkler. Speakers to play classical music when they arrive (that would make me hang around outside though if it’s moonlight sonata) Uncomfortable sounds to be played again from speaker? Constant barking dog

Posted by DescriptionFuture851@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 47 comments

Demonthief27@reddit

Because you can train that out of them, my dogs don’t smell they get groomed and don’t go through shit up areas. Not boisterous at all just sleep all day and active when I take them a walk. Never really hear them, one barks here and there at people outside but that’s their job and it’s very rare and always for a cuddle. They do cost money but it’s cheaper than having kids. https://preview.redd.it/ob6lfp8rj43h1.jpeg?width=2208&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8996a6e05e8a2d6bf0094c890e0891e058a5c3c6

If in fact you are doing so well it’s because of a handout you were given. No one who was raised by working class parents is this disjointed from reality. So kudos to you. Maybe some of the parents are struggling because they didn’t get a hand out and could have lost their jobs during covid, off shored jobs, redundancy, sleazy boss. But no to you it’s down to the individual. I’m glad you’re happy to pay for families to have the support they need, there is more to raising children than just having money, seemingly this was lost on you in your childhood and I’m sorry that happened to you.

Demonthief27@reddit

Because there’s no point, you have 0 empathy or real life experience and it’s evident. It’s not parents’ faults that current world events have forced the cost of living up for everyone and now they wouldn’t be able to afford the cost of having air con installed. Working parents are having to use food banks and it’s their fault apparently for not being able to save. OAP require winter fuel allowance because they didn’t save. Fortunately we have a system that supports people and you’re paying for it so we thank you for that.

Demonthief27@reddit

You’re right how dare people in a country where there’s a massive cost of living crisis, being hit horribly by climate change doesn’t have the £500 spare to install aircon to use for about 3 months. https://www.reddit.com/r/UKPersonalFinance/s/5bIUlEHHqB “Doesn’t cost more than heating in the winter” You do realise a good portion of families can’t afford that either due to global uncertainty ? I’m glad you’re in a position to afford this stuff but compassion goes a long way.

They aren’t even overthinking life, they said it themselves if it’s morning they’re happy to be in PJ unless it’s afternoon they will wear clothes. This is normal for most functioning adults who have a work life, unless it’s a day off most folk will feel the need to present themselves as up and ready by the afternoon.

Is difficult adopting a dog these days?

Posted by TheyLuvSquid@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 257 comments

Demonthief27@reddit

I have adopted, was during Covid. I got a border collie and took my dog with me to make sure they got on and they did just fine. They said they would have to check my garden and stuff but then turned around and said that because I had a collie already it shouldn’t be an issue and he came back with me. They didn’t know much about him and didn’t say much but I loved him and wanted him. When he came back, the issues started. He had been abused from what I can tell, I was sweeping and he want to attack me, buried himself under a bed and bit me when I wanted to comfort him. He hated all animals, dogs and anything with a wheel. 6 years on and he’s not that dog now, he loves everyone and can get along with dogs now. He destroyed my stairs, he bit me a few times and was just a knob to start but I persevered. If you’re going to rescue you need to be very very aware of the breed you’re taking in, I was looking for shepherds and had I got one I don’t know how different the actions would have been but could have been worse. I think everyone should rescue a dog at least once, as you say there are so many out there and had I not had Clyde he may have been put down with anyone else he’s my best friend now and we do everything together. https://preview.redd.it/jemlf3i85jxg1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3775cdc85dc4c1778640232bc03c296919e52fd8

Posted by mybrainat3am@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 27 comments

Demonthief27@reddit

These tests won’t make or break your life. I got into a bad crowd and went from a* predicted in everything to not bothering attend my gcse. Revising while stressed is pointless and will make you more stressed because you won’t take any of the information in. If you want to revise try to make things into a song so it’s a little more fun. You’re young, you have many many years ahead of you and education isn’t everything. If you wanted to take a year out and work full time and earn some money you can, had I gone to university at 18 it would have been a waste.

Texting unless it’s an emergency. Just because I can be called at any moments notice doesn’t mean I appreciate it. People made do with leaving a message in the past so why is it different now.
