It hit 48.2°C (118°F) in my state in India today. The news calls it a "severe heatwave," but living through it feels like standing at the end of the world.

How into Star Wars were you as a kid? And now?

Phone Wars is a cartoon that takes place between episode 2 and episode 3.  It was originally on cartoon Network for a few years. And then was canceled. Then a bunch of years later Netflix picked it up and gave it one more season. Then a bunch of years later when Disney picked up Star Wars they produced the final season. That ended right as episode 3 began.  A massive amount of new characters were introduced. A massive amount of backstory and lore. It introduced  Major characters who have since made their appearance in live action, who have had important effect upon the Star Wars universe,  Characters that you have absolutely no clue who they are or what their motivation is if you did not sit through 50 or 60 hours of a cartoon aimed at 12-year-olds that took about 15 years to finally get produced in its entirety. Did you know Darth maul not only didn't die but became a massive crime syndicate Lord?  Star Wars rebel is a cartoon that take place right before episode 4. Pretty much the same thing is above. Only. This was produced consecutively before it came to an end. Whole bunch of new characters, etc etc etc. they have since made their appearance in live action. Ahsoka Was basically the sequel series to this. Which I did not watch because I have no clue who any of these characters are or their motivation.

Clone Wars is a cartoon that came out in 2008 that takes place between episode 2 and 3.  However, it was not entirely finished. Years after the fact Netflix revived the show for one more season. That was still not the end of the timeline.  So years after that Disney revived the show and gave it one final season South ended right as episode 3 began.  One character from clone Wars made an appearance in live action in the book of boba Fett. Apparently was a big deal and a real end to the character Arc. Because didn't you know boba Fett had an entire huge character arc in the clone Wars cartoon?  I had no clue who this person was and so it meant nothing to me. Star Wars rebels is another cartoon that took place right before episode 4. In fact, you can see the ship from Star Wars rebels in rogue 1. And one or two of the characters from Star Wars rebels have now made an appearance in live action form in the mandalorian. The guy in charge of both cartoons is Dave filoni. Who kind of treats? Lore and his chosen characters as something to be shepherded and cared about and treated with reverence.  You can imagine this is a problem if you don't feel like sitting through 50 hours of cartoons aimed at 12-year-olds. With at times very subpar animation.

Let me put it this way: The first season was so successful and so well regarded. It was given a $270 million budget for season number two.  People were signing up for Disney plus just to watch Andor. Its viewership continued to increase.

Watch Rogue One, then it's prequel Andor. Andor is one of the best things I have ever seen on tv. Season1 is basically perfect. Rogue One is the best made star wars movie easily.

I was sort of interested in it. But then I realized It's probably going to have a bunch of Characters from the clone wars and rebels that I have no clue who they are or their motivation.

Modern fans ruined for me. One of them compared me defending the last Jedi to coming at their family with a weapon to kill them. Then Disney responded to their attitude by completely capitulating to their demands. They are more interested in being "star wars fans" then a fan of the media. If that makes sense. They are fans of he random and lore dumps/power scaling. So they can have it. I'm not bitter at al

What're some '90s "deep cuts" you like to listen to? My tastes were fairly mainstream back then, but I'd love to find more indie type '90s music. Bands like Bella & Sebastian, L7, Folk Implosion. Whatcha got, xennials?

Well you had to raise your kid, she won't. That will be the job of the nannies while she is off working. I also expect to see her working a lot more in the coming years. Royalties aren't what they used to be and the stock market isn't due to good for a lot of people.

The casting couch is absolutely real. They reward men and women who play along. And they punish men and women who don't. You can kind of figure out who played along with it when their careers dry up after an abuser is brought down.

>When the fuck are we going stop dicking around and collectively remember just how flammable everything is? When our stomachs are empty, our central air stops working, and our children are dying of easily preventable diseases. Generally speaking, that's what causes people to actually revolt. However, I'm rather sure if they've crunched the numbers and have determined just how many people in the United States can be killed before it negatively affects them. I imagine that number is everyone currently unemployed, plus the estimated number of jobs to be lost to automation in the next 10 to 20 years.

A 40-year-old millennial is not a 60-year-old Boomer. There is a big age difference between 40 and 60. Some huge changes in life. A 25-year-old adult is not a 15-year-old child. I don't think I need to explain this. I understand the point you're trying to make. But can we stop infantilizing people in their mid-20s? It's just another version of, " kids these days. Don't know nothing". And it just makes you sound like a World War II vet complaining about baby boomers circa 1970. Known

Do neurodivergent people see reality easier?

ClockworkJim@reddit

Honestly, I really get your last two sentences. Something happened to me about 10 to 15 years ago where I basically retasked or refocused my viewpoint on social interactions in the world and merely. By doing this I improved my relationships with others without actually changing myself. If that makes sense. I no longer mask. Not that I ever did, but I now have data that I did not have before and see things that I did not have before allowing me to make better judgment calls specifically in social situations. I realize things were not a hyper literal change of information, where only the words mattered, I started to take into account feelings as I am aware of to the best of my ability. While also following the most basic social guidelines established within my area. It's really no different than following a dialogue tree in a video game. If this then that. With the knowledge that I'm also allowed to just stay quiet and look awkward. Quiet and awkward is non-threatening, not annoying, and very forgettable. Which works for me. I can't exactly explain how I got there, but I do know that philosophy and critical thinking help me. Not so much because they taught me how to think, but they taught me that most humans whether neurodivergent or neurotypical, do not think that way. And so by learning how people don't think, I also learned how people think, if that makes sense also?

Was Hulk hogan as popular as sports stars like Jordan Bird magic Tyson etc in the 1980s?

A lot of articles like this basically have a low-key eugenics feel to them. And I really dislike them. They also operate under the assumption that we do not have our own flaws and own issues that make us more vulnerable to certain kinds of misinformation and misunderstandings. Unfinishing resoluteness is not always a positive. You can become so stuck in the mud on your own convictions that you're ignorant of your incomplete data set and incorrect assumptions.

No. In fact, we are subject to certain biases of our own where there are some things that can be right in front of us and yet to us they remain unknown unknowns. We completely discount a key piece of information because for whatever reason we registered in our brain as irrelevant and useless.
