My mom had a paddle with proverbs 22:15 carved into it, which I took as an adult to have as a keepsake. I then looked the proverb up online to be reminded of the quote, and the translation I’ve come to be really fond of is “folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far away”. It’s almost like God wants you to break your child like you’d break in a horse.

Everyone’s talking about taste, but it was the texture that stood out to me. It’s how I imagine what eating styrofoam is like. But like, in a good way!

The AMC show does so well covering topics in the book that were never addressed in the movie. I was super jazzed when they got to the zombie vampire storyline and thought they really did a good job extrapolating on it

I heard my breasts were fibrous any time I went in for a pap and my Drs checked my breasts for lumps. It only became a “concern” once I hit 40. Did a few rounds of additional tests, and all came back fine. But it still felt incredibly isolating since it didn’t seem worth mentioning to anyone until I got test results back :/

I remember getting teased in the 90s for not having the right kind of pants. Mine were like high wasted boot cut while everyone was wearing low rise bell bottoms. So in the 00s, when everyone switched to skinny, it took me a really long time to break away from the bell bottom hippy style. But now that baggy is back, I’m so on top of this trend. I have gained some weight, so baggie doesn’t particularly flatter me, but it’s so comfortable that I don’t care!

The only time I saw this was at a music festival in West Virginia. There was an American Spirt tent that was completely air conditioned at an otherwise sunny, humid camping event. I was also a smoker at the time, and I believe they were handing out whole cartons of cigarettes! It became my brand for a while before I eventually quit.

Concerts and ear plugs, yay or nay?

I went to a concert recently and wished I had my noise canceling headphones. I have to wear them to the theater to see movies now. Coming back from Covid, the volume seems way louder than it ever used to be. It hurts my ears to wear nothing, and movies sound normal with noise canceling on. Idk how people stand it without them. I don’t have earbuds that fit me well, and my ears end up aching either way. Makes me just want to stay home honestly.
