I just reminded myself of this absolute banger! We didn’t have a lot of money, but luckily my mom prioritized entertainment, so we had cable anyway!

Do you ever wear a helmet?

When I was commuting everyday on a bike in a metro area, I sure as shit wore a helmet. I’ve also been to the ER after a bike accident while wearing a helmet. Can’t say 100% that the helmet helped prevent a head injury, (my injuries were on my chin - 11 stitches), but I’m 100% glad I didn’t have to find out the hard way

Just writing to say thank you again bc I’m watching it rn and I’m finding myself standing in my living room like I’m at a concert or something, screaming at my tv, dancing, and laughing so fucking hard! Some of my favorite videos are on this one! I’m also really enjoying the bootleg quality, it really adds to the charm <3

An ex of mine had the closure VHS box set that had all the unedited NIN videos that were too graphic to show on MTV. Really loved it, and every now and again I’ll try to find them online, but to no avail.

My (much older) cousin had one of those, and I remember he let us watch Sliver on it, probably because he didn’t have many films for the thing. Think I tried rewatching that movie as an adult, and it was just as raunchy as I remembered 😌

That’s so awesome!! I grew up an a landlocked state so didn’t have a lot of access to sailing, which seemed so bourgeois. But I was lucky enough to be able to take a sailing class in college! This, however, involved capsizing a boat on the mighty Lake Merritt - it was absolutely disgusting and kind of traumatic lol I do not recommend doing it 0/10

Hah that sounds a lot like my experience! My dad was big on horror movies bc he himself was traumatized as a kid, having seen The Blob with his aunt at the drive-in when he was like 3 years old or something (one of his favorite Dad stories), and he was very thoughtful about wanting to pass that trauma down to me, so I got to see a lot of stuff I shouldn’t have seen 😂 Hence *the list*… RIP Dad! But I bet I saw this movie super young too! Just surprised your school was showing it. Some kids have all the luck! All we got was Voyage of the Mimi and Prancer. Eh, who am I kidding, Prancer was the goat

I did that for a while to hide my forehead wrinkles 😂 but they do grow fast, and if you’re like me, and get annoyed when they start getting in your eyes, you can purchase some nice trimming shears to keep them shorter between cuts

Has anyone ever successfully explained to their Boomer parents that "more" is not equal to "better?"

My mom told me a story when I was a kid that always stuck with me. Sometimes when she watched me put a PB&J together, she would tell me how her father would scold her about how much jelly she would use when making her PB&J sandwiches growing up. “You’re only supposed to use enough jelly to taste it, not see it.” Apparently I reminded her of this story because of how much jelly I was using. She explained that grandpa said stuff like this all the time because he lived through the Great Depression and World War II rationing. I think back to other memories as a kid growing up, like her strongly held belief about how I should eat every single thing that was on my plate, for instance, and how it was probably just a weird holdover from being raised by people who didn’t have enough of anything. Maybe parents thinking “more is better” is partly due to the people who raised them too.

I was just walking by a HS as they were being let out for the day, and commented to my friend how I saw 3 kids, who all seemed completely unrelated to each other (other than they went to the same school), and they were all wearing the same wide legged heather grey sweat pants. It made me wonder if it was a trend right now, and if that meant I should buy a pair 😂

The rules are so arbitrary for Gizmo tho. What time zone do we go with? The one from his origin, I assume? Also, no food after midnight, but then when is it safe for him to eat again? Every time I watch Gremlins (once a year at Christmas) I think about this 😂
