No, the perfume was nice, it would just remind me of him. He wasn’t in college, he was a year or two older than I was at the time. He was a white guy with an orange lowrider that was such a shitbox, it broke down a lot and he barely had the money to fix it up so I often had to drive him to and from work, and I shared a car with my sister as it was so it was tough. He had weird friends and religious Christian parents and would automatically take it personally and think I didn’t want to see him, when maybe I just wanted a weekend to myself. When he met a friend’s boyfriend that worked at some stereo store, he had the nerve to ask the guy if he could get him a deal on a car stereo. The first time we broke up, I didn’t react to him saying it because I was upset, and he leaned over and bit my upper arm, which left a bruise, to try to get me to do or say something. The fact that I spent around 7 months with that guy should have sent me running to therapy but it would take me 20 years to be able to actually go.
