I think this was at the tail end of the national obsession with surfing clothes that morphed into bodybuilding clothes. Rude Dog was somewhere in between. For some reason it was cool to dress like a beach bum, even if the closest beach was a corn field on a flood plain. I'd still probably buy some ironic Jamz

I should have read the comments before I posted. Last House is close, but also kind of like Eden Lake Either way. There's two sides and neither one ends up in a good position. I don't know what that story structure is called.

It's still a thing. Child labor never went away. We usually just give our kids the cash for whatever it is because we don't want to rip off our friends and family, but it's still going on. The Scouts popcorn is just straight robbery

Not really. But they talked about it in school like it was a real problem. Killer bees, too. Turns out, you can't tell the difference between a killer bee and a regular bee except for their behavior which is not the time to be asking them if they're originally from Africa. They definitely told us they were bigger than normal bees.

Did anyone really understand what was going on in Æon Flux?

Posted by Josephthebear@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 546 comments

peloquindmidian@reddit

I did not, but I remember being made to feel very stupid for this fact by several people. Looking back, maybe I didn't understand it because I was always out doing stuff at that time and rarely saw it. Now, I see that those original people just sucked, like I thought back then.

Argh. What a blindsiding realisation.

It seemed clear to me. I don't know, buddy. I think some things would translate. Like personal growth and epiphany. You could start over self actualized but knowing nothing of what is to come, like everyone else. You might have a deeper insight into why things happen but you wouldn't have any more specifics than anyone else.

In Maryland. Our neighborhood woods had civil war era stone walls and the remnants of a chimney. We should have another civil war so our grandkids have cool stuff to play with.

Yes, but there are things I wish I had pictures of, now My friend started The Goat Club. They would eat weird things Like, the coffee table They would get saws, knives, and condiments; slowly eating the table If I could have a picture of that table I would die happy because no one believes me.

As an artist, I have been trying to capture the style for 40 years. Honestly, I still have no idea how he did it. It's illustration, so what it looks like in real life doesn't even count. All that matters is what it looks like in reproduction. It took maybe 20 years to even know that. Now that I have a reproducer in my pocket, I think I'm getting closer. It doesn't help that Stephen Gammell is a recluse and doesn't share his technique, but trying to figure it out has been a nice side quest.

Rat in a maze is what we did to ourselves It's very clear in a game like, Resident Evil 2, but it goes all the way back. Hit a wall, go back, sometimes to the beginning. Over and over til you get to the end Next time you only hit one wall Now, you don't hit any walls and are basically speed running the whole thing.

There was also a big push about lead paint, but almost no education on how to deal with it. My Dad and I scraped a bunch of that without even a dust mask. Right in the trash. Now, you need a whole ass abatement crew.

I've been searching antique stores for giant gaudy glass ashtrays that were in almost every house as a leftover from the 60s and 70s. Pretty fucking rare. I want one for an art project and I need to see it in person. Also, lucite fruit. Hard to find.
