Reads like a pointless AI sloppy post. After 6 hours a 14m boat can travel well over 36 miles. You should be a fit ultramarathon runner willing to gobble up in excess of 4000 calories to do so. But that’s besides the point. If your goal is only to go from A to B a sailboat is a bad choice. Get yourself a motorboat and pollute away.

Being a glider pilot I totally get what you’re saying but again only a working wing can save you and in the case of copters that is not always the case (and yes I am aware of autorotation). Take care.

Of course I was joking. I think your stance is super wise. If one of you gets incapacitated for whatever reason, handling dails, navigation, radio, motor and comms should be well exercised by the other so they can be performed even under duress of the stressful conditions.

Supercool! Thanks a lot. My initial knowledge of aerodynamics was based on an old 'Model flight' by Martin Simons way back when I was building my model planes [https://medium.com/rc-soaring-digest/rediscovering-martin-simons-c4aca53b8fb5](https://medium.com/rc-soaring-digest/rediscovering-martin-simons-c4aca53b8fb5)

Yeah, fond memories. My first model had a small spring loaded mechanism which triggered the horizontal stabiliser deflection and initiated the descent even if the glider was climbing in a thermal. Sometimes in the summer it went really high and you doubted it would ever come down :)

I did begin my love of flying with those, and then progressed to actually designing my country's F3B sailplane many years ago (piloted by Marco Lorenzoni) and then progressed through real saiplane piloting with a golf FAI badge with two diamonds :) so empirically I know something about flying and aerodynamic but just thought the theory of the Bernouilli effect explained enough without giving much more thought to it. It is (an healthy) shock to have discovered I had glossed over many details.

Yes I do understand. Even though not my academic background I had read quite a lot about aerodynamic (especially low reynolds numbers for my F3B build with Selig-Donovan profiles) so thought I did understand quite well. Turns out I had a simplistic knowlege. Dunning-Kruger at its best :)
