Idk, as a controller I always loved them. Pilots were always top notch professionals, with a flawless safety record too.

You have to realize you are in the aviation subreddit. I think Spirit was always decently liked here. Their safety record was established knowledge.

I will be honest - I had great experiences on Spirit.
We flew Spirit around Thanksgiving last year - LGA to SAV. The gate agents were so friendly and lovely. They were super kind to us at both airports. We were traveling with our dog and while some other airlines make it seem like a major inconvenience, the gate agents were SO excited to meet our pup. The flight attendants were also excellent and FUNNY. A lot of smiles during what could have been a stressful time to fly between the holiday and adding a pet to the mix.
