For those of you that ended up divorced. Did you remarry? I don’t think I will ever get married again…

I have a friend who owns one half of a duplex and her partner owns the other half. It works really well for them as they have their own space, but can be together often if wanted.

So who has a GOOD relationship with their parents?

My mom is one of the strongest people I know. She lost her FIL, both her parents (within like a week of each other), and her husband in the first 3 1/2 years of my life. 10 years later she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She raised two daughters on a teacher’s salary, one of which (me) was an undiagnosed ADHD and autistic kid. She’s been an amazing mom despite all her life challenges and is one of my best friends. I feel very lucky for sure. :)

My mom is everyone’s mom at this point. She just has this warm, inviting personality that just makes people open up to her. She’s a retired teacher, working retail jobs to make ends meet and the stories she tells me about the people she works with and the people who come into the store. Her most recent job was in a hospital gift shop so she gets the medical staff in a lot, as well as patients and their guests. She has helped so many people cope with whatever is going on in their lives when they enter the store. :)

I’m a 48 year old college student currently. Most of my “peers” are in their early 20s. The shock on their faces when I tell them how old I am never gets old. 😂

I hate that word too!!! My mom always said it with a slight southern accent so we over exaggerated it when we would mock the word…I still do. 😂

Are others in that “this will be my last” mindset? Or is this just midlife crisis or depression?

I never heard of it until I started having symptoms at 47/48…or at least that’s when I noticed the symptoms because they started to screw with my life.

I liked Stranger and Kitty better, but loved the entire album. I got an autographed vinyl and a t-shirt for their 20th anniversary of that album.

Perimenopause is causing me to not remember any of my misheard lyrics, but my mom and I spent an afternoon listening to and writing down the lyrics to Shoop because I had recorded it off the radio and didn’t have the liner notes.

Long John Silver’s was maybe my favorite restaurant as a kid in the 80s and early 90s - who else had weird favorites from this time period?

When we were younger she would get so angry when people thought I was the older one (we’re 2 1/2 years apart), but now that we’re older no one ever accuses me of being older and I’m sure it kills her. 😂

When I was mid-30s I got hit on by an 18 year old who thought I was at least 10 years younger. The shock on his face when I told him my age! He was so cute too! I was single, but I needed my dates to be old enough to get into a bar. 😂

I’m childless (wanted them but couldn’t have them), but my young looks are in my genes. I have a 50 year old sister with 3 kids who also passes as late 30s/early 40s, and an 80 year old mom who easily passes for 60s. For all the stress all three of us went through in my lifetime, we should ALL look 20 years older.
