What are your views on AI? Good, Bad, Indifferent?

Posted by richbart1234@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 83 comments

dewittless@reddit

AI is a huge category. If you're discussing images, it's not coming for talented artists, it's coming for filling in gaps with the kind of art you don't really pay attention to. For video, it's a cheaper alternative tocexpemsive CG or reshoots. For coding, it may well engulf and entirely replace the junior level of the profession, which is a problem because nobody starts at senior programmer. For mental health an absolutely terrifying threat you must avoid.

Very low. Where I love the fruit and veg is often out of what I need and their selection across certain specific products is terrible (decaf teas for example).

That's even worse though isn't it, unstable civilisation that keeps having new fuckers with varying degrees of interest in preserving history. Say what you like about the British, we are pretty consistent in our preservation of ancient artifacts and structures.

I tell you what did great damage to the Parthenon: using it as a munitions storage site that then blew up either due to a dodgy grenade or lightning strike. If Greece is supposed to have been the protectors of the Parthenon they didn't have a great history of it. Anyway I think we should give them back now, or give you guys part of Stone Henge and then we have to visit each other's countries to complete each set.

The architecture and history attached. It's kind of brilliant being able to walk around a city or village and to be able to see the history of the place manifest. And then by contrast how great the landscape and natural sights are. Also the birds are great. But they're great everywhere.

Take luck, to keep open turn and hold the little handle and then move the small round nubbin and it'll lock the mechanism in place. Can also be used to dead bolt the door if you just move the nubbin without moving the handle.

£1mil invested correctly and with the attitude of not increasing your lifestyle to overspend it can absolutely last a lifetime. Consider it is about 27 years worth of the median salary, and that doesn't account for money made through interest, avoiding major debt like mortgages and being able to fix problems immediately.

What does "mischief" mean?

Posted by Muted_Reflection_449@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 30 comments

dewittless@reddit

To add to this, mischief can be as simple as pranks and general misbehaviour, but we also call Loki the god of mischief, and his powers and deeds extend into much more sinister acts. Mischief is both child-like and nasty, but can also be violent. That tension of the word's meaning is what the episode is playing with.

So the rental shop was a fixed shop, in town, where you went and got a video from maybe 1 or twice a month. And even then, they had maybe 200 or 300 titles. You can stream basically any movie ever made right now from your phone. It is not the same.

Are suggesting these cultures don't have Spotify, YouTube or Netflix? I think you are barking up the wrong tree here, I do not mean national identity (which we do actually have quite strongly). I mean shared cultural contemporary events. You think Japanese people all watch the same films and TV at the same time like it's the 90s still?

It's the death of the monoculture across the world. Used to be a select few TV channels, some radio stations and the cinema. Now you can stream basically any media any time anywhere, with more content being made than ever thanks to podcasts and YouTube. It makes collective events rare, basically sports and occasional TV and movie events, like Traitors or Barbenheimer.

For under £100 you might need to shop around, but for £120 I got a Eufy robot vacuum cleaner and they're great. It does mean you're swapping vacuuming for the new chore of robot maintenance but I still would take that over being bent double with the Henry.
