Do you microwave baked beans?

I used to think that but once I learned how a microwave worked (it essentially heats up water in the food) and its pros and cons, it’s an excellent kitchen tool. Certain vegetables like peas and broccoli steam perfectly in the microwave with a spoon of water and retain all their nutrients. It’s also great at speeding up cooking of other veg — baked potato in microwave for 6 mins cooks the inside then you can just brown off the skin in the oven in 20-30 mins. Same for speeding up a big meal where you need to soften veg which contains a lot of water, like onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc. Usually you’ll have to stand by the hob for 15-20 mins waiting for them to cook down. But first pop them in microwave for 2-3 mins and it’ll remove a lot of the water, then once you throw them in the pan they’ll start browning almost immediately. Defrosting is also a great use. I could go on, but yes, microwaves are great once you know their strengths!
