Purplemonkey78@reddit
No. ID Mobile is owned and run by Currys. They use the 3 network in the UK. I’ve had SIM only and Mobilr contracts with them in the past. Found them good value with no real issues.
EpicFishFingers@reddit
No, but they're on the 3 network, which is shit in East Anglia. I frequently have 2 or 3 bars of 4g yet nothing loads on data. 5G is slower than 4G typically, too.
Slartitartfast@reddit
Presumably lower priority than regular 3 too if it's anything like Giffgaff/voxi. 3 is shit where I am anyway (York), voxi is fine but I know they prioritise Vodafone customers for 5g.
Scared_Vehicle108@reddit
It’s a niche case for me, but honkai: star rail wouldn’t work over mobile data for me when I was with 3 a few years ago, but after I switched to iD, it worked completely fine 😭😭
luckeratron@reddit
Are there any decent networks in East Anglia. I use Smarty which is 3 and it's super hot and miss. My work phone on Vodafone is only slightly better.
Giant_Gaystacks@reddit
I hear 'Three is rubbish' all the time on Reddit, and it must be the case for some people. I live in a large city, and my experience couldn't be any better.
Jebble@reddit
This was my daily experience in London before I moved to 1P.
No_Preference9093@reddit
0.42 down for three in London is pretty good!
No_Preference9093@reddit
It’s luck of the draw. I was stuck in a three contract for two years when I got my new iPhone and I don’t know why I spent so much money on an unusable phone. I mean try going to London, it just straight up doesn’t work. Even round most of the south it’s just black spot after black spot.
VeganCanary@reddit
Yeah, exactly. All networks are good in large cities.
I live in a town with 50,000 people and didn’t get a signal most places when I was on Three.
EpicFishFingers@reddit
It falls off massively in rural areas and especially between towns and cities. I moved from EE because EE were going to start charging roaming fees; I've only found one area where I have signal with iD/3 where I didnt have it with EE. Meanwhile, I have dozens of new deadspots that I notice every fucking week.
Ill be switching back after my next holiday.
Souldestroyer_Reborn@reddit
Generally speaking, 3 are good within large city areas.
For example, great in Glasgow, but drive 20mins outside of Glasgow and the signal is atrocious.
Jimmyj84@reddit
Not everyone live in shit-hole London
Giant_Gaystacks@reddit
Are you talking to me? I live in Yorkshire.
redditguy1298@reddit
Common misconception but the bars are not really relevant to the 4G/5G strength or quality of connection.
EpicFishFingers@reddit
So what are they for?
redditguy1298@reddit
It’s the radio signal strength to the closest for phone call quality.
Vivid_Direction_5780@reddit
It's horrendous in Yorkshire too. You can't get a signal in Central Leeds. I finally switched today!
fromwithin@reddit
You could try flexifone or honest mobile if your phone supports eSIM. They automatically switch to the network with the best signal wherever you are.
Giant_Gaystacks@reddit
That's really not my experience.
Jazzlike_Quiet9941@reddit
I'm on ID and it sucks in Sheffield
InsaneNutter@reddit
Likewise and I walk about playing Pokemon Go so I'd be aware if signal dropped more than the average person.
Isgortio@reddit
I found Lebara (Vodafone network) had the best signal when I was in Leeds. Especially in York which is where I had complete blackouts with Three!
celaconacr@reddit
It might be different once the Three and Vodafone networks are fully merged. EE might have some real competition. They are promising 5G SA for 99% of the population by 2030.
gaspoweredcat@reddit
They have already completed the merge as far as I know
audigex@reddit
The “99% of the population” thing is a fun cop out the networks use
That just means they have to have coverages areas that hit 99% of houses
It doesn’t mean 99% of the country, nor that it’s fast, nor that it actually works indoors… just that if you stand outside 99% of houses you’ll technically be on 5G
Anywhere outside in the countryside or a park? Good luck
At work, an industrial park, or a shopping centre? Good luck
Indoors? Haha, no
And then on top of that it makes no reference whatsoever to contention ratios (how many customers they have per mast) or how fast the backhaul is. Both of which can dramatically limit the speed. You may technically be on 5G, but if you’re sharing one mast with 50,000 people at a festival or even 2000 in an area with a bunch of offices, it won’t actually work very well.
Same if they’re sharing a small “pipe” back to their main network, you might not actually be getting 5G speeds because although your phone and the mast are talking over 5G, the mast is sharing a pitiful amount of bandwidth amongst too many customers and it can end up slower than 4G
It’s a complete bollocks figure they like to shout about, but it means more or less fuck all
Azzymaster@reddit
When I used to be with 3 it was common in central parts of London for me to have a full signal but just nothing would load
f1zoe@reddit
FWIW I was on EE until last year and got the same issue despite paying for the top tier plan that claimed to get priority access.
Original-Material301@reddit
I was with 3 for years and every time I went into London I also had full signal but nothing would load, was so frustrating.
Recently switched to iD after a few years with o2 and it feels like 3 hasn't changed.... at home I get about 2 bars with iD when it was previously 3 or 4 with o2. I guess that's why it was cheaper than the other ones i was looking at. Oh well.
Technical_Front_8046@reddit
That’s due to a lack of capacity in a busy area(s). I found ID mobile to have shite signal. My life was spent on buffer and dropped calls.
EpicFishFingers@reddit
3 and Vodafone are joint worst in East Anglia so I'm not holding my breath 😂
Jebble@reddit
That means nothing as a connection to a shit network is still shit.
retrolental_morose@reddit
Struggled with ID in the Midlands, too. I work for EE but moved to 1P and have much faster download speeds now. Nothing wrong with ID as a company in terms of support etc but the signal was just slow and spotty where I lived and worked.
BluegillUK@reddit
I thought 3 was shit in East Anglia so I moved to o2 and it’s my biggest regret in recent times! It’s absolutely terrible
EpicFishFingers@reddit
EE seem to be the only decent one. I've heard Vodafone can be okay in coastal towns.
chrislomax83@reddit
Around Christmas time I was absolutely done with spotty reception.
I have a main o2 account and reception in my area drops off. Got myself an ID Mobile sim only e sim and I have both networks running.
I’ve been trialling it for a few months and I have it so it switches data network for whichever is stronger.
No more spotty reception!
I’m going to cancel my main o2 contract and replace with another cheaper provider that piggy backs the o2 network. It’ll still work out cheaper than what I was paying to just o2 alone and I don’t get a spotty signal.
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
i’m on 3 and my school is in east anglia and it’s so bad but i checked EE and cannot afford £80pm so here we are
Phil_Mike-Huntin@reddit
Is 3 not with Vodafone now?
bennettbuzz@reddit
I even go the text from 3 that they are using some of their masts now but I’ve noticed zero difference. I’ve been with 3 for nearly 20 years now and never really have a problem connecting apart from literally the middle of Nottingham city center even with the Voda merge, it’s so bizarre.
pc772@reddit
Yes but not all 3 masts are with Vodafone and vice versa, but they’re trying to merge them
CrackersCloacas@reddit
Thanks for the feedback, I was wondering whether to leave them and also in EA! X
makingitstinky98@reddit
This seems to be a nationwide issue as it’s happening with me over in Bristol and I live right next to a tower
Zaruz@reddit
Yeah think I'm finally going to swap. Getting absolutely awful signal and as you say, even when you do get signal you can't load shit
HSPA_UMTS@reddit
Not at all. iD mobile has been quite trustworthy ever since its founding; known for their good value. Make sure you read the terms of your contract carefully!
mrthrowman1@reddit
Yeah If you say so Mr. Mobile, I see through you
HSPA_UMTS@reddit
Hahaha... £15pm unlimited data I cannot miss!
pb-86@reddit
Got my son his phone from ID mobile, £15 per month for a new Samsung A56 with 500gb of rolling data. I couldn't get the phone that cheap
Possiblyreef@reddit
Also the A56 is a REALLY good phone for its price point
Zgriptzor@reddit
I'm on this plan, it's a no brainer!
I even have roaming in Europe.
Basketcaseuk@reddit
Big mobile is amongst us
JDT33658@reddit
I'm with O2 but have a contract for a second SIM with ID on my iPhone 15. I live in london. They are not a scam at all. They are run by curry's and use the Three network. 3 has improved a lot since the merger with Vodafone and whenever I don't have signal on my main O2 SIM (which is a lot) I move to my ID eSIM and it works perfectly.
They are very cheap and have uncapped data speeds. The Three/Voda 5G network is very fast and i've seen it hit 2GBPS before. I would say go for it.
EternallySickened@reddit
Don’t forget to check if you can also get cashback as well! Quidco or TopCashback are usually a good bet for phone buying cashback.
JabbaTheHype@reddit
I got a contract with them a couple years ago and had no signal at all in central London.
Managed to get out of the contract with them due to it, so worth checking coverage quality where you live.
GuitarAzza@reddit
Not a scam. I’m on the same contract - great deal!
aolllaoooo@reddit
Shit reception tho
smith9447@reddit
I've been with them 3 years without problems. Would recommend
just-tea-thank-you@reddit
Do not join ID mobile.
My partners identity was stolen last year. She had several warnings someone was trying to access via her phone (some kind of sim swap). She informed ID Mobile countless times in the two week run up to the fraud.
They refused to take any action.
They got everything - emptied credit cards, extended overdrafts, financed laptops etc.
Dealing with ID Mobile in those subsequent months (almost a year to rectify) was one of the most stressful times we’ve had. They point blank refused to take any responsibility, hung up the phone after hours of waiting to be connected more times than I can count and offered the worst customer service I have ever seen or heard of.
They wouldn’t even let her leave her contract early as she didn’t trust them to keep her identity safe anymore. She had to pay herself out of it.
These companies operate cheap because they have no support behind the scenes. A skeleton crew to undercut the other players with no service team. You think it won’t happen to you, but when it does, you’re going to want some support.
A truly horrid company.
Sleepy0wl9969@reddit
Had their sim for years. Still paying £12 a month and while not unlimited data I never use the allowance I have.
My_Feet_Are_Flat@reddit
No, I am with this provider. The catch is that they don't have a physical shop, so everything is done online. That's why they are so cheap.
I have nothing but good things to say about them personally. I've got great reception everywhere, internet is fast, and any data I don't use gets bolted onto my allowance for the next month.
KingEivissa@reddit
No. They're a legit network. Not the best but legit.
Kiss_It_Goodbyeee@reddit
Have been with them for several years. It's a real network and definitely not a scam. What I like about IDmobile is the inclusive Roam like Home.
It's a great deal. The iphone itself from Apple is £26 pm on the 0% deal on its own. I might also be tempted.
Note that the price will go up next April.
CautiousCapsLock@reddit
ID isn’t a scam, they also don’t pay £799 for the phone, it just looks like a good deal.
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
wait can you explain how theyre don’t pay £799 for the phone i think ill get it
This_Suit8791@reddit
Retailers pay less for the things they sell otherwise they wouldn’t make any money, it’s not much less from Apple though.
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
ohh makes sense i didn’t think it through. alr thank you
ImDankest@reddit
It's not even a crazy good deal. Just pretty bang average tbh.
aje0200@reddit
They can do it because they buy many at once.
Koda614@reddit
ID is owned by Carphone Warehouse. They are known to sell grey imports which helps keep the costs down for them. No real difference in the real world as both they and Apple will honour the warranty on them. But there may be slight variations in the device itself - If it originates from Japan you may not be able to silence the camera shutter for example, or if it comes from North America it may have a mmw antenna on the side of it etc.
I buy my phones from Fonehouse who have the same grey import practices. My last 3 iPhones have all been Japanese models from there. No problems with it at all, and the most recent one even got replaced under AppleCare with zero hassle recently too.
Key-Competition627@reddit
The mobile network only gets a slight discount on handsets (especially apple), probably much less than you think!
Jazzlike_Quiet9941@reddit
With ID I got a £450 phone, for a total of £400 contract with data text and minutes.
Character_Layer_5938@reddit
I believe famously John Lewis made £0 when they started selling the iPhone, it was just starting to look back for their brand to not have it + ability to sell accessories / insurance etc
Sgreaat@reddit
No scam, but I found their coverage to be poor where I live when I've never had issues with 3, Vodafone, GiffGaff etc. I ended up cancelling my contract with them within the 14 days.
MrKrayzeeK@reddit
I’m with them, been nothing but great 👍
browney321@reddit
I have been with them years, their prices are unbeatable
Gullible-Try-3440@reddit
I'm also with ID. I pay £8 per month for 60 GB data (any unused rolls over to the next month), free EU roaming, relatively cheap roaming elsewhere.
Not a scam, they're part of Currys. They use the 3 network, so maybe check coverage for that first.
YogurtclosetSimilar9@reddit
No, just a smaller part of Three. I've been on a rolling contract for 5g internet for the best part of a year. Cheapest option at the time for internet without a lengthy contract. Pretty good speeds my way too.
Cool_Bottle3089@reddit
Think you should check whether they have good mobile data coverage in your area. Otherwise it may seem like a scam when you're internet speed is very slow when you switch to mobile data...
Rpqz@reddit
Quick Google shows a brand new iPhone 17 for £729. That makes it 148.56 for the data. They'll also up the contract costs by about 5% each 12 months, that's for the whole plan not just the data.
Still a good deal, if you value a phone at £729.
gaspoweredcat@reddit
Not at all, they are I believe owned by car phone warehouse and use 3 network, I've been on it like 6 months my partner has been for like 3+ years
Vaultaire@reddit
Cheap but you get what you pay for.
Been with them for years and considering changing only cause the signal is so bad.
Ok-Dig4576@reddit
Don’t forget ID or any provider won’t be buying the phone for RRP of £800. They will bulk buy or agree to buy so many, for discounted handsets. Then rely on high volume but low(er) margin compared to competitors. They will make insane revenue on the products (insurance, finance, cases, headphones or whatever else you can add to the bill when you buy the phone)
skibbin@reddit
It may be "unlimited" in terms of having no data cap, but the signal and speeds I was getting from there were extremely limited. Whatsapp was basically all that worked
MrSam52@reddit
I’m with them, I think I pay like £8 a month for my contract and zero complaints about them.
FWIW you should check the Apple price if getting an iPhone as they offer 0% interest and then get just a contract on top of that for minutes data etc.
A contract from a phone company will often have built in increases to it to match or better inflation.
cod1ngwolf@reddit
I'm with ID, best deal out there I found. I'm paying £8/mo for something that was costing me £40/mo with 02 previously, and I could have got it even cheaper if I didn't go for the rolling 1mo contract option.
(nb: this is specifically for a sim only deal, 02 had double data but only due to having VM at the time, otherwise data, phone, text all like-for-like)
JayTurnr@reddit
Buying phones on contract is a scam. iD mobile is not a scam.
No-Pumpkin4288@reddit
It's carphone warehouses own network. The signal kinda sucks at times but not a scam.
ActionBirbie@reddit
No, it's an actual company, you can look these things up alongside what the word "scam" means.
mxtchstick@reddit
No need to be a prick is there?
bsc1974@reddit
I don’t think he’s being the ‘prick’ in this exchange is he?
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
he knew what i meant no need for all this
bsc1974@reddit
So, say that without resulting to insults.
SlicerPizza@reddit
No I got the 17 pro with unlimited data 2 weeks ago, it’s fine :)
If you tick the box to save your details in the basket, wait 24 hours and they send you a discount code on the upfront cost too
Own-Story8907@reddit
I’ve been on iD for a few years and may move to EE now as I’ve been in certain situations of needing reception lol
mongosquad@reddit
They are a good carrier, i have been with them for years.
Forsaken-Original-28@reddit
I'm with id, they're generally cheapest. The contract will probably increase each April though
retroboyuk@reddit
i’m with iD for 3-4 quid a month
the call quality is shocking though, so if you’re a professional who uses a phone for work i’d perhaps think otherwise
I have resorted to Whatsapp calling people, as the clarity is so much better
Nithilia@reddit
Why not just use WiFi calling? Even when I was on ID, my phone calls were fine if it was at home / in the office and connected to WiFi?
Decent_Resource3879@reddit
I’m also with them, not a scam. Good app to manage your account, signal not always the best but a solid and very affordable provider
Jazzlike_Quiet9941@reddit
Definitely good and cheap but signal sucks
Master_Elderberry275@reddit
I'm with iD. I've paid £8 a month for my SIM card for the last four years. I think it went up to £8.50 recently? Idek, I don't care bc it's stupidly cheap and I never go over the limit. With rollover, I get like 57GB / month.
Designer_Pumpkin8921@reddit
Definitely not a scam, I had a iPhone 15 contract. The price was definitely a scam though.
mrmiking@reddit
How much is the monthly cost after the first 10 months?
Hairy_Doughnut5582@reddit
No have phone and broadband withthem
Effective-Stretch951@reddit
Just check threes network coverage. Its who ID mobile use and in my specific area the coverage is wank. I struggle to make a basic call. O2 was perfect however but I ain’t paying them prices and or sticking with them to have a 4 hour hold (not joking)
Wooden_Chain_1086@reddit
Might want to check service in your area, loads of service dead spots in Manchester so ill be leaving them once my contracts up, not a scam though and the roaming is great if you travel
Trixnglz@reddit
I'm with ID mobile, not a scam. I'm paying £15 per month for 500GB data
ColourfulSmarties@reddit
I switched to them from O2 around 3 months ago and wish I had done it sooner. The signal on O2 was absolutely awful in my area and since I’ve switched it’s been a world of difference.
Dependent-Waltz-8260@reddit
Joined ID Mobile, switched from O2.
Went from zero signal in my house, to 5 bars. Spotty data coverage, to pretty consistent everyday. Roaming in Spain last month, no issues at all.
All at half the price O2 wanted for the same phone and package.
crazypooper28@reddit
been with id for 7 years on a sim only. never had any problems. this screenshot is from uswitch which i know usually has cheaper deals than if you buy from the provider straight. i work at o2 and we constantly have people coming in asking us to match deals that they’ve found on uswitch but we just genuinely cannot.
OriginalPresence3907@reddit
It's owned by Currys so probably.
MutedIndependence674@reddit
I was with them for two years and the reception was the worst I ever experienced. Also customer service is atrocious so if anything goes wrong you are totally screwed.
treeplayz@reddit
Fyi Vodafone has the same price for a 100gb with a refurbished (customer return) iphone 17 pro
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
where?? that’d be way more ideal since 3 coverage is 💩
treeplayz@reddit
https://www.hotukdeals.com/share-deal-from-app/4881737
It’s expired now but might be worth calling them up and asking them to match it.
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
i found the same thing on uswitch just £20 more upfront. that’s the one thank you. i just wonder if it’ll still be avail by my birthday but if it is that’s the best i’ve sen
Affectionate_Team572@reddit
Price sounds about right, I got a prepaid 24month unlimited 5G data sim from scancom (three/vodafone network) for £59.99 a few weeks ago.
Informal-Intern-8672@reddit
No, their data plans are really cheap generally, I have a sim only.plan that's £6 for 50 gig of data.
Witcherten@reddit
No it’s a real network.
Flat-Flounder3037@reddit
Owned by Currys. Ive been with them for about 5 years now. Not one issue.
Sir_Madfly@reddit
Just a warning about ID Mobile: They send you a shit ton of emails and text messages that you can’t unsubscribe from. It’s highly annoying.
BloodyCuts@reddit
No, both my daughter and my sister are on ID.
one-big-enigma@reddit
I’m with them, cheap iPhone and contract with no obvious downsides
PhobosTheBrave@reddit
Not a scam.
Nearly unlimited data sims only cost about £100/year these days.
They are getting a good chunk up front from you which helps, rather than a small amount monthly.
Crucially, many people will forget and kept paying that monthly price long after the contract ends, this is where they make the real money.
SpyChinchilla@reddit
My mum is still on a £3 monthly plan with iD she bought when they were new to the market. She gets basically unlimited everything.
No scam
Stockers93@reddit
With them, no scam.
Unlimited everything, Fold 7 on release for 60 a month.
mikekettz@reddit
I pay £8 a month for 50gb of data. Don’t forget it rolls over. So basically I get about 100gb of data a month. And in the eu you can use your data package for free. No 20gb a month cap like with Vodafone
HelpfulSwim5514@reddit
Not a scam, I was with them. The only issue I had was the coverage and internet speed was nowhere near as good as EE
steelcity91@reddit
Been with them for over a year, not had any issues with signal, calls or speed etc. they are legit. Owned by Currys.
Used-Fennel-7733@reddit
I have an awful experience with them but anecdotes aren't datasets. My partners experience was good
Justboy__@reddit
ID mobile is just car phone warehouse so it is legit. Maybe I’m just too cheap though but what’s too good to be true about it? The handset retails for about £800 anyway and then you’re paying £80 a month for a SIM card?
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
nah you’re paying £80 total for an unlimited data sim card so 80/24=3.333 a month for the sim
Justboy__@reddit
Ah ok. I get you know.
Demolishonboy@reddit
ID and Uswitch are both reputable and trust worthy, ID is of a similar ilk to VOX or giffgaff, they are online only mobile providers, they piggy back off someone else's network and generally undercut the parent network by having less overheads and aiming for volume sales.
Impressive_Sir2623@reddit
No it’s legit , some areas just have flaky signal
djmonsta@reddit
Nope. Me and the wife are on it, £7 a month for 20GB data. Decent signal, no issues so far.
Critical_Role4753@reddit
Been with them for a while, it's Carphone Warehouse/Currys network.
Capable_Tadpole@reddit
You definitely get what you pay for with regards to the mobile network quality. I rarely get signal near where I live in West Yorkshire.
profesorkind@reddit
Using them for 4 years now. Crapy reception in rural areas but typically cheapest contracts for iphones
P-l-Staker@reddit
Nah, sounds about right. They get phones for cheaper than you and SIM plans cost them very little. They'll also jack up your price "in line with inflation" every April.
Chemical-Lettuce2497@reddit
I used ID mobile for years, it's a decent budget network. Had decent coverage but not the best and customer service was a ball ache to get hold of but some of the best value for money
Darkstar5050@reddit
Not a scam, also, get some more money off by buying via topcashback
ZantorGaming@reddit
I’m with ID, been using them for just over 2 years. Has absolutely no problems whatsoever. Their App is super clean and tidy, and you can change your plan at any time. Only problem is that when I was close to my 2 year contract being up I got a few unwanted calls trying to bribe me to upgrade my phone. Overall the best prices I’ve found
behemuffin@reddit
No, I was with them for over two years, sim only, unlimited everything, £17 a month's. I only left cos I got an O2 contract rolled into my virgin deal, and it's a step down in quality. ID's network coverage was some of the best I've had, I think they use EE infrastructure. The company, AFAIK, is a subsidiary of Currys PC World.
Don't expect much in the way of customer service, but you don't expect that anywhere these days.
bowak@reddit
I'm on my second Pixel a from them. Absolute steal of a price. I did question if it was too good to be true at first and really the only downside is that the network is 3.
BicycleFired@reddit
Not a scam. Legit company. But I only lasted 3 months with them. The reception in London was crap
OnPointTip1@reddit
Been on ID mobile for a few years. Best deal out there
1Pink_Petals@reddit
Nope not a scam. I’m coming up to the end of my 2 year contract on iPhone 16 pro max and I’m not sure I will switch to a different provider… it’s been perfect and yes it was super cheap.
Ant138@reddit
I've been with them for years. Never had an issue.
Kaliasluke@reddit
£78.46 is £6.55 a month and for the same data package they charge £8 a month for 12m then £16 for 12m - so you save a grand total of £46.84, so a \~5% discount on the total contract value. Maybe not a bad deal, but hardly “too good to be true”
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
it’s a 24m contract not a 12m so it’s not 6.55 a month it’s like 3.25 so you do save a lot imo because it doesn’t to to £16pm later but i have to read the contract to see
Primary-Bowler2963@reddit
Just make sure you have a good signal , I made mistake of joining , signal was so poor , 24 months of poor signal was painful , I actually bought a cheap Labara SIM card to use along side it
ChewMango@reddit
Nope! been with them since 2015 near when they first started and can happily say i’ve never had any major issues with them. The prices for SIMs and phone contracts have always been very reasonable too
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
how about calling. that’s the only complaint i’ve actually seen on reddit which is stopping me from getting
Mod74@reddit
Check your signal coverage on the Three website for the places you live/work.
Personally I got fed up and ditched them because of spotty coverage where I live. I do think it might have got better since they seem to be using a closer Vodafone mast now, and I mainly used wi-fi anyway, but switching provider is trivial nowadays and I'd had enough.
Arcendiss@reddit
I'm on iD, about 4 years I think? Outstanding value. Piggy back on the 3 network which can be hit or miss
anacrucix@reddit
I have been with ID mobile for the last few years. They do some exclusive deals through car phone warehouse which is definitely recommend taking a look at!
DevSiarid@reddit
They buy these phones I bulk so they get a bit of the discount which they pass on to you.
plug_and_pray@reddit
We’ve had our four family phones with them for the past 7 years. Nothing wrong with them.
Erubadhron89@reddit
ID Mobile are awesome, obviously that's dependant on you living and working somewhere with good signal though.
If you want some free money as cashback with them, use my referral :) https://aklam.io/8w8Z08x3
Tall_Moose9333@reddit (OP)
thank you
ENTPrick@reddit
Not a scam, but my god their network (which I think is 3) is utter shite. I had to hotspot off someone that was roaming in central London. And reception black spots all over the country.
Price wise, they’re incredibly competitive, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal, which is comparable to getting a new phone off fleabay + equivalent sim only.
bringandbuysale@reddit
Not a scam, got a good deal with them on the phone I'm using right now.
SmolFoxxo@reddit
I'm with them, not a scam.
harj-london@reddit
Depend where you got this screen shot from? ID mobile is not a scam. Best to Google iD mobile so you know it the original site.
Beneficial-Drink-998@reddit
The screenshot is Uswitch they’re a legit site loads of people use them to compare bills
fools-gold-@reddit
They're a legit company, I had awful service in Manchester with them though and went through a few SIMs before having to cancel my contract
Xp4t_uk@reddit
I used ID Mobile for 4 years, they piggyback off Three network. I think it's the old Carphone Warehouse. The only thing to watch out for is a very limited customer service (I guess the money needs to be saved somewhere to offer good deals).
mad-un@reddit
They're a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), owned by Currys and operating on 3's network.
Other MVNOs include Giffgaff, Tesco mobile and sky mobile, though they operate on different networks, if you're on the original network and get a good signal, you should be fine
MVNOs are great but users don't get priorirty traffic on the network, especially on data at busy times / places, priority goes to the direct customers on the network. Still great deals to be had on MVNOs
MattOnMatthew@reddit
I’m with them and it’s not a scam however I wouldn’t say my data is particularly good signal wise
Amnsia@reddit
EE, 3, and Vodafone are the scam
Bxsnia@reddit
No, ID are fantastic
Evening_Archer_2202@reddit
iD are fine their networks are just shit I get terrible signal
jajay119@reddit
I’m with them. They occasionally have really good deals. I actually cannot find anything right now that’s as good as the deal I got with them two years ago.
VENOM_LEADER@reddit
I’m on an id data contract and I rarely have problems with connectivity and their rollover is great
Hammy747@reddit
Legit but signal is fucking awful
Kingfury00@reddit
ID mobile is Curry’s brands i worked at curry’s and used to get everything unlimited for 5 pounds a month as an employee discount and you can get get good deals at mobiles.com it’s curry’s brand as well.
MrGeordie23@reddit
I work for Currys and pretty much all the ID customers I’ve dealt with have been happy with the network
mattcannon2@reddit
iD Mobile is the rebrand of Car phone Warehouse. Idk how but they're just priced really competitively
reddevil18@reddit
Been with them about 2 years, zero complaints
R-TTK@reddit
If only there was a website where you could go look at customer reviews and using some critical thinking deduct if it was a scam or not...
sim200610@reddit
They are literally owned by Currys (formerly Carphone Warehouse) now whether Currys itself is a scam is up for debate but iD mobile is alright.
Prince_John@reddit
They are legit but I switched away almost immediately after two days within a week of the network breaking and me being unable to use my phone while travelling and coordinating with others.
Supposedly it was to do with 3, rather than with them, but I went crawling back to EE pretty sharpish.
zero_sevenn@reddit
They’re owned by Currys
painful_butterflies@reddit
Legitimate network but please before signing up, use an independent signal checker for you area. Or even use a rival network signal checker. Because it's based on Three. And they seem to be either the absolute best, or complete dog shit, no middle ground, depending on area.
ale624@reddit
ID is a great carrier. With them for many years without issue
JustMrChops@reddit
No problem with ID here. 8 quid a month for 30GB, which can be rolled over. Works great for me.
Over-Entrance-2432@reddit
Not a scam, you’re paying cheaper but do get less coverage than some of the other bigger names. Best to check what 3s coverage is like in your area first. Otherwise they have great deals.
imaner76@reddit
If it's too good to be true. Then... go from there.
dewittless@reddit
Nope, but their signal is definitely worse where I live than O2 was.
cosmic_monsters_inc@reddit
I've been on id for years. Good enough as networks go.
stellarium_void@reddit
I'm with them. Phone contacts are fine but they do increase a bit every April. Also the signal is very poor in my experience.
Stock-Magician1097@reddit
Been with them for about 6 years now no complaints yet lol
Decard_Pain@reddit
ID iirc was a brand dixons used which piggy backs off 3s networks.
Richy13@reddit
They are/maybe were a provider span out of carphone warehouse, not sure if they are still linked or if they are a complete separate entity. But yes they run on top of Three
gosport4eva@reddit
Dixons was rebranded Curry's 15 years ago btw
No_Bar6171@reddit
I’ve been with iD mobile since December 2024, no issues and definitely legit. I’m typing from the phone I got from them actually. I’m in the Midlands and don’t have many issues with the data either.
Naetharu@reddit
I've been with them for around five years. Seem decent. Lower cost than alternatives. Did me an uplift to the latest pixel at zero cost, and a plan that was £25/month with unlimited everything.
Dylan1998x@reddit
As long as you’ve got a good Three signal, they’re great value.
ShelleysSkylark@reddit
iD is really good. I've used them for years. Always have great 4g signal wherever I go. The only place I struggled a little was in north Wales :]
BarbiePeonies@reddit
It’s because the data is SHIT
Tall_Stick5608@reddit
My parents both use ID mobile and haven’t had any issues for years.
SuperflyTNT1974@reddit
Totally legit. Owned by Currys. No issues for me, all been good.
