You are comparing a well optioned M3 to a base Blackwing with no options at all. Add blue paint and an automatic transmission and the Blackwing is already up to $110k before tax.

It’s also the fact that it has basically no proper competition for what it offers. Everything that comes close is either smaller, more expensive, has a worse engine and reliability or is old and doesn’t stack up to it.

It’s the same car but slightly tarted up. Better audio, heads up display, a little more sound insulation, leather seats, more comfortable suspension. If you don’t care about anything like that the type r might be the better option. The type R looks a bit cooler IMO.
