Are you still living at home and how do you feel about that?

Sphealwithme@reddit

Not technically at home, but I live with an am a partial carer for my grandmother. Moved in about ten years ago after uni, was experiencing mental illness and rent costs are so high here I just stayed. Ended up going part time after a breakdown, and with her increasing disability I’ve just stayed to help look after her. We both get on well so it works for me!

Do Brits generally respect the "private sphere" when it comes to personal matters?

Fair enough! I just think it’s something most people would benefit from, even if you’re not actively suffering from poor mental health. Having a completely impartial, nonjudgmental person to listen to you, focused just on you can be really soothing.

You don’t know anyone who’s mentioned going to therapy? At this point about half the people I know, myself included, have openly mentioned having it. It should absolutely be the norm and I genuinely think everyone would benefit from it, it’s not some scam.

I wish I had an award to give, as your comment really deserves one. I’ve been feeling really shitty today, but this was such a touching thing to read. Sounds like quite a challenging situation you’re in currently, but I bet you both have a lot of love to give!

Why does mistreatment against people with ginger hair seem so overlooked?

I wouldn’t remotely say better, just different, most likely to be sexually harassed etc, plus women bullying ginger women is a thing too. Even as a guy I’ve been sexually harassed because of it multiple times.

33M, Currently balding enough on the top that a friend said I should just shave it off. Has anyone tried any of those hair regrowth treatments? Have they worked?

Do you think people should have the right to end their lives painlessly?

Sphealwithme@reddit

Not everyone is able to recover from mental illness though, and some people do genuinely live with worsening conditions and remain resistant to any form of treatment. I think if you’re absolutely going to commit suicide anyway and avenues for treatment for been exhausted then euthanasia should be an option.

In a very likely painful way, with a large margin of error which may leave you in a worse state, leaving other people to unexpectedly find your body? Instead of a method with minimal suffering, guaranteed to work, and in a dignified manner where professionals and loved ones can be present and involved? Just saying off yourself is not an equivalent.

I think often just having it as an option is a relief for a lot of people. Many people sign up for assisted suicide programs but don’t end their lives that way, but knowing it’s an option makes carrying on easier.

Families would also be much more likely to be involved in preparing their deceased too, cleaning them, preparing and laying them out for the wake in their homes etc. We’ve become quite detached from it really, for better or worse.

I think that’s the issue often with depression sufferers, it’s hard to enjoy things, and hard to see the point in trying. You just exist, wait and watch things fly by. Have been struggling with this myself for years, have been trying to make little steps though.

Could it be possible you genuinely have undiagnosed discalcula? It’s always seemed a bit hit and miss when it comes to diagnosis and you have to wonder how many people never even realise it. I was diagnosed with dyspraxia when I was younger, but I wonder if it even stops there for me.

I get what you mean, we don’t do light stuff so much! Not sure I agree about beige so much though, we still have lots of rich browns and reds and make good use of herbs, if not spices so much other than in sweet dishes.

But Tika Masala is a British creation, so I don’t see what’s wrong with that. Lots of good Anglo Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi food that we’ve had for a long time now.

But we’ve had access to lots of those spices for hundreds and hundreds of years now, so I think it’s fair to say it’s part of our cuisine. Probably longer than we’ve had access to potatoes. If you only go by what was naturally occurring in any one country any cuisine would be considerably more limited and bland.

Partially because the two cars I’d most likely to practice in outside of any lessons and drive once I’m able are both automatic. Also because between dyspraxia and an anxiety disorder I’d rather minimize stress as much as possible. I agree though, being able to do both would be best ultimately.

I’m honestly not entirely sure? I’ve heard it could be because the cars are less common or fewer people want to learn in one, but it’s not super convincing.
